Abstract

The extract of Pagoda leaves can play roles as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacteria. Interleukin 6 (IL-6 henceforth) is the primary mediator in responding to the inflammation, while mastitis is caused by bacteria often found in the increased level of IL-6. This research aimed to unveil the effect of giving the extracts of Pagoda leaves on the level of IL-6 of female rats (Sprague dawley therefore) induced by Staphylococcus aureus. This true experimental research employing pre-test and post-test control design used eighteen rats chosen randomly. All rats were divided into three groups, namely negative control (placebo), positive control (amoxicillin 9.6 mg/ml/kgBB/hari/oral) and treatment group (amoxicillin 9.6 mg/ml/KgBB + EDP 50 mg/ml/KgBB/hari/oral). All groups were induced by S.aureus 0.2x108 CFU. Treatment was given for five days. Investigating the level of IL6 was done using ELISA method. The data were anaylized using ANOVA formula followed by post hoc. The empirical findings showed that there was a difference in terms of the level of IL-6 in all of the groups ±24 before and after the induction of S.aureus. The result of investigating the level of IL-6 in the post-test was significant (ρ = 0.00), meaning that there was a significant difference, in which the negative control group, the level of IL-6 was insacalating; while it was dipping in both the positive and treatment groups. However, the treatment group experienced the most significant drop in terms of the level of IL-6. It can be concluded that Pagoda leaves can be used as a complementary therapy for mastitis illness caused by the S.aureus bacteria. Abstract

Early marriage in Indonesia reaches 50 million of the total population of 237.6 million people. The phenomenon of early marriage in other areas is not much different considering the fact that sexual behaviors of teenagers who have pre-marital sex often leads to early marriage. This attitude can be seen from early marriage to both women and men in general, marriage is more common in women than in men before they are 19 years old. So the adolescent prevention solution should know and understand about the dangers and losses of early marriage. Understand or not, can be known from the attitude of teenagers themselves in dealing with early marriage. The purpose of this research is to know the differences of attitude between young men and women about early marriage in PGRI 04 Bantur Junior High School, using a comparative design. The population was all students of grade 2 and 3 (89 students) in Junior High School of PGRI 04 Bantur, Malang, Indonesia. The sample size were 73 students (39 were male students and 34 were female students). The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. Data were collected by questionnaire then analyzed by Chi square test. The result of this research shows that young men had favorable attitude were 13 (33.3%) and unfavorable attitude were 26 (66.7%). While young women had favorable attitude were 26 (76.5%) and unfavorable attitude were 8 (23.5%). The p-value of Chi square test was 0.000 (there was difference attitude between young men and women toward early marriage). Keywords: Attitude, Early Marriage, Adolescent

Abstract

Fifty percent of maternal deaths occur within the first 24 hours of delivery. Furthermore, 30 percent of the population still practices traditional treatments for a mother in their postpartum period. Timor tribe in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) has culturally distinctive practices for a mother in their postpartum period, called as tatobi and panggang. These two practices put the health at serious risk. For this reason the present research aims to further investigate such cultural practices of the Timor concerning the postpartum care (tatobi and panggang) in Bello village, Maulafa distric. This present research was qualitative employing phenomenological research design. The sample was determined by employing purposive sampling method. The results show that the mother, during their postpartum period, chose to do tatobi and panggang because such practices are believed to be able to help the mother for the post-pregnancy recovery. However, in the actual practices they often caused excessive bleeding leading to a higher risk of suffering from infections and postpartum anemia. Some conclusions can be drawn; such cultural practices, tatobi and panggang, are seriously risky for the postnatal mother, but they are beneficial, on the other hand, to improve blood circulation and promote exclusive breast milk. Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia based on 2015’s Health Profile of Indonesia has reached 305 per 100,000 live births. Preeclampsia is known being one of the most related factors of MMR Studies suggest that the use of folic acid may lower the risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy. It has been suggested that folic acid and Folic acid containing multivitamins may reduce the risk of preeclampsia by lowering plasma homocysteine concentrations in pregnant women. This cross sectional study aimed to analyze the correlation between intake of Folic acid with preeclampsia. Data was taken using Food Frequency Questionaire (FFQ) with semi quantitative approach by interviewing subjects. Sampling was obtained by simple random sampling with total 80 subjects. Data was analyzed using Chi square test. There were 15% of subjects diagnosed with preeclampsia and 83.3% of women with preeclampsia were deficient of Folic acid. Data analysis showed there is correlation between intake of Folic acid during pregnancy with preeclampsia in Sidotopo Wetan Health Care Centre (p= 0.028), while OR value was 0.158 (95% CI 0.032 to 0.776). It can be concluded that insufficient intake of Folic acid during pregnancy correlate to preeclampsia incidents. Keywords: Folic Acid, Preeclampsia, Incidents, Pregnancy
