Abstract

Important control materials are used to achieve laboratory test quality. Control materials can be obtained from commercial serum or can be made independently in the form of pooled serum. Control materials commonly used in clinical laboratories are commercial control materials in lyophilized form. However, the price is quite expensive, so it is less efficient to use in laboratories where the average number of examinations is small. Homemade lyophilized control agents can be used as an alternative to expensive factory controls. This study aims to analyze the stability of homemade lyophilized serum as a control material for the parameters of glucose, uric acid, cholesterol, triglycerides, BUN, creatinine, SGOT and SGPT stored for 7 months. This research was an experimental study with a time series research design conducted at the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory, Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya, in January 2022 to September 2022. Blood serum was processed using the freeze dry technique to obtain a lyophilized form. Lyophilized serum was stored at 2-8°C in the freezer, dissolved using aquabides and checked every month, for 7 months. The results of glucose, uric acid, SGOT, SGPT, creatinine, cholesterol, and triglyceride tests did not cross the CV line (CCV). The Levey Jennings graph shows that the results of glucose, uric acid, SGOT, SGPT, creatinine, BUN, cholesterol, and triglycerides were in the mean ± 2 SD and did not follow Westgard's law restrictions, meaning that the results of homemade lyophilized serum were well controlled (in control) for 7 months of storage. It can be concluded that the homemade lyophilized serum is stable over 7 months of storage.

Abstract

According to WHO data 2021 that 41 million people died every year in the world caused by non-communicable diseases or equivalent to 71% of death globally and more than 15 million people who died from non-communicable diseases were aged between 30-69 years. The biggest contributor to death from non-communicable diseases in the world is cardiovascular disease which is up to 17.9 million people every year. Atherosclerosis is the basis of heart disease and blood vessels where dyslipidemia is one of its main risk factors. Based on Riskesdas data in 2018, it was found that the prevalence of dyslipidemia case in Indonesia is quite worrying where 28.8% of population aged 15 years old and more had total cholesterol level above 200 mg/dL; 24.3% has HDL level less than 40 mg/dL; 73.8% had LDL level above 100 mg/dL and 27.09% had triglyceride level above 150 mg/dL. The objective of this study was to identify and analyze factors such as age, body mass index/BMI and work status which have a relationship with the incidence of dyslipidemia so that the incidence of dyslipidemia can be prevented. This study was conducted in the one of power plant operation and maintenance company in Jepara Regency where 84.55% of male workers experienced dyslipidemia incidents based on medical check-up results in 2021. The design used in this study was an observational analytic with cross-sectional design. The population in this study was 220 male workers of that company which this study used a total population sampling technique. Data processing was carried out with Chi-Square and Z-test statistical tests. Data obtained that 186 of 220 male workers of that company with dyslipidemia incidence. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between the incidences of dyslipidemia in male workers with their age (p=0.002) and body mass index/BMI which 129 male workers have obesity (p=0.001) and there was no relationship between dyslipidemia incidence by male workers with work status (p=0.505). According to this study, the company needs to initiate health/fitness programs for workers and improve health promotion programs, especially about health lifestyle topics.

Abstract

Efforts to provide additional food to cronic lack of energy pregnant women aim to increase the intake of macro and micro nutrients (iron and vitamin A). Bangke cake is one of the traditional Indonesian pastries in South Sulawesi Province. Knowing the acceptability and analysis of macro and micro nutrients content in macro and micro nutrients in Bangke cake with the addition of brown rice flour. The assessment method uses 4 hedonic scales and the criteria for the panelists selected to perform the hedonic test are untrained panelists consisting of 50 pregnant women. The data from the test results of nutrient levels were analyzed by two-way ANOVA test and the data from the organoleptic test results, namely the hedonic test on acceptability was analyzed by the Kruskal Wallis test. The brown rice flour substitution cake that was most acceptable to panelists from all aspects was the F3 formula. Nutrient levels in the brown rice flour substitution showed an increasing trend of nutrient levels of macro nutrients and beta-carotene, except for iron.Keywords: brown rice; bangke cake; pregnant women; chronic energy deficiency

Abstract

Statistics has wide uses for making the right decisions in various areas of life, because statistics give a person the knowledge and ability to evaluate data. Through this research, researchers hope to create a new learning model from the results of the development of the Two Way Anova Design Block Statistical Test that can be used as a decision-making tool in the analysis of data on the growth results of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria on alternative media from sorghum media. The results obtained in this study, that in the variation of the sorghum period 4 grams, 5 grams, and 6 grams both in dilution with aqua distillation and meat broth the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in contrast to the growth in mannitol salt agar (positive control) media. Meanwhile, in the periodic variation of 7 grams of sorghum in both aqua distillation and meat broth, there is no difference in the growth in mannitol salt agar media. Two way Anova block design, used if the experimental material is grouped. So that each group aranges a replication for the treatment. The treatment was given randomly to each group. Based on statistical method approach block design, we find alternative mannitol salt agar media into sorghum.
