Abstract

This article aims to seek (1) a new meaning of Islamic feminism and (2) its logical structure whether traditional or modern in its nature. I will examine Etin Anwar’s distinction between ‘Islamic feminism’ and ‘Muslim feminism’ and discuss the potential of self-ownership for developing arguments in favor of gender justice. While Anwar’s definition of Islamic feminism excludes male feminists in such a way, I argue that it is not strategic for gender justice, and it would be necessary to adopt self-ownership into the discourse of Islamic feminism instead. This suggestion manifests in the Minangkabau matrilineal setting, in which case men share their self-ownership with their wives, mothers, and sisters due to the institution of bundo kanduang. As a consequence, Minangkabaunese Muslim men shoulder some extra filial duties but enjoy nothing from the inheritance division. I also conducted several in-depth interviews with some experts concerning this issue. The upshot is that Islamic feminism should be inclusive of male feminists, and it should pay attention to the modern logic of dialetheia instead of the traditional logic.

Abstract

The advancement of quantum technologies and their integration with digital systems has resulted in enormous changes in society, providing new opportunities for furthering subjects such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things (IoT), and quantum computing. The ethical ramifications of these technologies, however, have not been adequately investigated, raising worries about their possible harmful influence on society. This research examines the convergence of quantum physics, metaethics, and the digital era in order to determine the implications of these technologies and to offer ethical frameworks for maintaining a just and equitable society. It will analyse the obstacles faced by the employment of quantum technologies in the digital era, including concerns relating to privacy, security, and the possibility for biased decision-making, through a thorough analysis of relevant literature. It then investigates the possibilities of multidisciplinary approaches that combine quantum mechanics and metaethics principles to overcome these issues and construct ethical frameworks that emphasize human values. The report suggests that a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes ethical issues is critical for the development of quantum technologies in the digital era. This necessitates a coordinated effort among stakeholders from many sectors such as technology, ethics, policy, and governance. The article provides a complete ethical framework that incorporates quantum mechanics and metaethics principles to ensure that the advantages of new technologies are realized while limiting any negative consequences.

Abstract

Transwomen community in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta) faces distress in obtaining their social, cultural, and economic rights as part of the society. The stigma attached to them as non-conforming in the midst of Indonesian people with a majority of binary genders causes discrimination. It becomes difficult for them to access healthcare services, deal with civil registration matters, and getting proper job opportunities that often leads many of them to end up as sex workers. Although those rights should be guaranteed by the state. This research aims to analyze the implementation of equality principles based on Nussbaum’s capabilities approach theory by examining the fulfillment of the transwomen sex workers’ social, cultural, and economic rights in Yogyakarta. In-depth interview method is used for collecting empirical data. While data analysis is done through a case study approach. It is concluded that the social, cultural, and economic rights of transwomen sex workers in Yogyakarta have not been fulfilled thoroughly since only the capabilities of life, bodily health, senses, imagination, and thought, emotions, practical reason, affiliation, and other species are fulfilled. However, control over one’s environment in political context, bodily integrity, and play capabilities were not.

Abstract

This study investigates and analyzes the religious experiences of Rudolf Otto using a phenomenological approach. The main objective of this study is to explore Otto's interpretation of religious experience and his contribution to the field of phenomenology. The research problem focuses on understanding how Otto's concept provides a framework for examining religious experiences that go beyond ordinary or everyday experience. The study uses a literature review, document analysis, and phenomenological analysis of Otto's works, including his important text, Das Heilige (The Idea of the Holy), and his personal documents, such as letters, journals, and notes. The study reveals that Otto's concept of the "Almighty" refers to a divine presence that transcends logical understanding and evokes deep emotional and intuitive responses. These findings demonstrate the importance of Otto's contribution to the phenomenology of religion, both theoretically and methodologically. Otto's insights have provided important insights for examining the complexity and richness of religious experiences in the modern world.

Abstract

Bullying in educational settings has become a significant global issue, exacerbated by the rise of cyberbullying and juvenile delinquency, particularly in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative approach and literature review to investigate the impact of the curriculum on shaping ethical values and character among students. By focusing on ethical education, particularly the principles of individualism and collectivism, and incorporating deontological and virtue ethics, this research proposes a holistic strategy for addressing bullying. It argues that understanding and integrating these ethical dimensions into school curricula can foster a supportive environment that mitigates bullying and promotes moral development. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of moral philosophy in healing the trauma caused by bullying. It advocates applying ethical principles such as justice, compassion, and empathy to support affected students, helping them overcome trauma and build resilience.  The study advocates for applying moral philosophies to help students navigate complex social dynamics, thereby enhancing their emotional well-being and contributing to a more empathetic and just educational environment.

Abstract

The use of intimate language in public spaces is a phenomenon that emerges in the interactions of economic actors in traditional markets. Therefore, language intimacy deconstructs social norms that should not be displayed in public spaces. However, language intimacy has emerged in traditional markets for a long time in the interactions of economic actors, including sellers, buyers, porters, parking attendants, and the social gathering community. This research explores how intimate language is articulated in an economic space closely related to the ethnic identity of economic actors in traditional markets in the Jember region. The ethnic diversity in question includes Javanese, Madurese, Chinese/Chinese, and Arab. This phenomenon was researched qualitatively using a post-structuralist approach and applying Julia Kristeva's theory of intertextuality. Data analysis uses two Kristeva concepts, namely intertextuality and suprasegmental. The data is processed by looking at the text production process originating inside and outside the text. The research results show that the intimacy of language, usually used in the private sphere, has succeeded in breaking down the rigidity of language in the public sphere, besides dissolving social relations between economic actors with various ethnicities and social classes. Thus, the use of greetings in intimate language closely related to ethnic identity is experiencing development and merging with the space of familiarity and closeness built by economic actors in traditional markets.

Abstract

Technology integration in education raises the need for a philosophical foundation that guides the use of technology in learning contexts. The philosophy of digital pedagogy is an approach that provides an ethical basis and values that guide the application of technology in the educational process. This paper aims to explore the relationship between digital pedagogical philosophy, critical consciousness, and the role of technology in shaping contextual and adaptive learning experiences. This research uses a hermeneutic approach to describe the reality of Digital Pedagogical Philosophy in building critical awareness of the role of technology in education. This method involves elements of interpretation and description in analyzing and understanding the implications and significance of technology integration in the learning context. The philosophy of digital pedagogy provides a foundation for integrating technology into learning to support the formation of critical, creative, and responsible individuals. Critical awareness of the role of technology in education creates a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced in the digital environment. This approach can increase student interaction with course material, increase understanding of concepts, and promote critical thinking.
