Abstract

Based on the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (UN), where 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are identified, the present study aims to (1) propose a measure for the perception of green human resources management practices; (2) investigate its relationship with the employees’ person-organization fit, and (3) analyze the moderating role of personal environmental commitment in the relationship between the perception of green human resources management practices and employees’ person-organization fit. A quantitative and hypothetical-deductive approach was used, and a sample of 204 Portuguese employees responded to an online questionnaire. The results showed (1) that the proposed measure for the perception of green HR practices was adapted to the Portuguese population and showed excellent internal consistency; (2) a significant and positive relationship between perceived green HR practices and person-organization fit; and (3) that this relationship can be moderated by high personal environmental commitment. The study presents novelty and contributes to the existing literature concerning green HR practices by proposing an adapted measure, relating it to person-organization fit, and verifying the moderated role of personal environmental commitment. Abstract

The paper deals with two topics: Participatory Budgeting (PB) and mayoral impact on its success. Its theoretical background is rooted in the interrelation of the discourse of PB and characteristics of mayors as city leaders. The paper analyzes articles revealing personal, social and political characteristics of mayors and their impact on civic governance. The scope of collected characteristics was researched with a view on how they impact succession and the resilience of PB. The idea behind this analysis was not only to reveal mayoral characteristics and their impact on PB in general, but to test them against the background of the Covid-19 pandemic as an example of an external crisis. PB practice in Lithuanian municipalities was researched. Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with mayors or their subordinates and helped to reveal the mayors’ role and impact on PB resiliency. Relevant statistical data was collected and analyzed in order to obtain the specific characteristics. The results proved the impact of mayors’ social and personal backgrounds on PB resiliency, but during challenging times or even crises, political affiliation, interrelation with the council or administrative and political skills are supportive factors. Abstract

The analysis and classification of dates is based on their external features: size, appearance, shape, and colour. The process is currently performed manually after harvesting as part of the post-harvesting process. Grading manually is tedious because it usually results in time delays, product quality risks, and it is associated with time and cost delays as well. Although the use of computers and information technology has seen tremendous growth in many small and large sectors, it has been in its infancy in the cultivation of fruit and dates. Using image processing algorithms, we can enhance human vision capabilities through analysis and make images easier to comprehend. A major objective of computer vision-based algorithms for classifying and sorting of dates is to make the procedure fully automated by minimizing the manual component involved in the process. This paper presents an image processing-based algorithm that uses machine learning techniques to extract the characteristics of colour intensity and colour homogeneity, allowing us to grade images in a more timely and automated manner. In order to obtain the results, we extracted the appearance of the date images based on an image processing algorithm. It is used as a validation element for the results that the quality of dates-fruit images can be evaluated through the prior selection process in both separate and in groups. Abstract

In the study, an overview of the current situation in the field of inclusive education in Slovakia is presented. Since teachers’ attitudes towards inclusive education are among the key determinants of the success or failure of SEN students’ inclusion in mainstream schools, the main objective of the study was to investigate them in the context of implementing the new Strategy for Inclusive Education in Slovakia. In this quantitative study, Mahat [1] "The Multidimensional Attitudes Toward Inclusive Education Scale (MATIES)" was used and three components of teachers’ attitudes – cognitive, affective, and behavioral – were examined by means of univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods of statistical analysis. As the aging of the teaching population is an issue in Slovakia, age-related peculiarities were focused on in the study. The findings revealed statistically significant differences in the affective and behavioral components between the two examined age-groups of teachers. Since no extensive study has been focused on teachers’ attitudes towards replacing school integration by school inclusion in Slovakia, the proposed study aims to fill the gap and provide unique data useful in the process of changing traditional schools into inclusive ones. Abstract

The economic reform started in 1986 has transformed Vietnam from one of the world’s poorest countries 35 years ago to a lower middle-income country (MIC) in 2010. Poverty rates dropped from 70% in 1986 to below 2% in 2021. The transition from a central planning system to a socialist market economy is the fundamental underlying factor of Vietnam's success. Using the historical institutional framework that Lee (2018) [1] developed, this study aims to explore the country’s transition from a central planning system to a socialist market economy over the past three decades. The findings demonstrate that the country’s transition to a socialist market economy has been taking a gradualism and dualism path like China. In addition, the study also illustrates how the economic reform and globalization processes pushed the institutional transformation in Vietnam to meet the demands of multiple economic sectors and ownerships as well as accommodate international commitments that the country entered. Finally, Vietnam has been cautious in its political reform over the past few decades. Yet, this is inevitable as a result of the country’s socio-economic development process as well as the global and regional rapid changing context. The implications for Vietnam include: (i) Vietnam needs to transform its growth model toward a knowledge-based, higher-added-value, and more environmentally-friendly pattern; (ii) while there is significant progress in institutional transformation, bottlenecks and challenges remain. This should be addressed effectively to unlock the country’s potential; (iii) political system reform is inevitable as conditions are mature. Domestic demands and international requirements are putting increasing pressure on the changes. Abstract

In the 21stcentury, the tragedy of the pandemic shocks the world. This non-natural disaster is called COVID-19. Its dominant effect is also worrying about social and economic conflicts at local, national, and even international levels. The orientation of this research is to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the socioeconomic aspects in Indonesia from 2020-2022. We set the research using official/secondary publications. Data analysis was interpreted in three formats: Pearson, Kendall’s, and Spearman’s correlations. It channelled empirical testing through Microsoft Excel and SPSS v.25. Social items include migration, mortality, domestic violence, and sexual harassment, while the nine economic items are per capita spending, well-being, unemployment, poverty, and labor productivity. Then, statistical instruments were reviewed based on the correlation coefficient and level of significance (5% for Pearson and 1% for Kendall’s and Spearman’s). The results are not much different between Pearson’s approach, Kendall’s and Spearman’s. In Pearson model, it proved a negative correlation when COVID-19 increases, so migration, unemployment, poverty, and labor productivity decrease. COVID-19 has had a positive impact on mortality, domestic violence, sexual harassment, per capita spending, and well-being. In Kendall’s and Spearman’s tests, poverty and labor productivity have actually increased because of COVID-19. Implementing semi-lockdown is a priority so that the social and macroeconomic constellations continue without ignoring the latent dangers of COVID-19. Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic has compelled countries to conduct contact tracing vigorously in order to curb the highly infectious virus from further spread. In this context, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) has been broadly used, utilizing Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) for Close Contact Identification (CCI). However, many of the available solutions are not able to adhere to the guidelines provided by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention which are: (1) Distance requirement of within 6-feet (~2 meters) and (2) Minimum 15-minutes duration for CCI. In providing some closure to the gap, we proposed a novel approach of utilizing: (1) Low calibrated transmission power (Tx) and (2) Number of signal captures. Our proposed approach is to lowly calibrate Tx so that when distance is at 2 meters between users, number signal capture gets lower as the chipset’s smallest RSSI sensitivity value has been reached. In this paper, complete experimentation for Proof of Concept (POC) and Pilot test conducted are demonstrated. Results obtained shows that the accuracy for POC utilizing signal captures for 2 0.3 m distance is at: (1) 71.43% for 5 users and (2) 70.69% for 9 users. Abstract

Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of the hottest topics in the technological world. Although it is involved in many domains, it was recently involved in the healthcare sector. AI can be used for diagnostics, drug development, treatment personalization, gene editing, disease prediction, and many more. It helps to improve healthcare services by benefiting medical professionals, hospitals, and patients. Saudi Arabia has a particular interest in the healthcare sector, and it has a clear vision for the future, which points toward the development of AI-based technologies. Few studies investigated the use of AI in Saudi healthcare, and most of them focused on healthcare employees' perceptions. This study is beyond the focus of the existing works. It aims at: 1) presenting the main AI-based healthcare applications; 2) exploring the use of AI in the Saudi healthcare sector; 3) addressing their ethical and legal challenges, along with the policy questions in Saudi healthcare; 4) studying the benefits of these AI-based applications and the acceptance of professionals to use AI in daily practice; 5) introducing the new Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) in Saudi Arabia; and 6) discussing the importance of AI to the future of Saudi healthcare. To this purpose, a survey was distributed among four main Saudi hospitals. The findings showed that AI should not only lead to better health but also save manpower and simplify the healthcare processes. Abstract

Objectives: To deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and its unpredictable variations, universities must develop many different response scenarios in which online teaching is considered a suitable, strategic, and long-term solution. Our study aims to investigate and determine the relationships between digital transformation, satisfaction, word-of-mouth communication, and students' intention to continue learning online in universities. Methods/Analysis: Our study uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to measure the interaction with data processing tools such as partial least squares SEM (PLS-SEM), Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and PLS Bootstrapping with descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings: The results show a positive interaction between students, faculty, and schools with digital transformation; between digital transformation and student satisfaction and word of mouth communication; between satisfaction with an expression of mouth communication and the intention to continue learning online; and between oral communication and a student's intention to continue learning online. Abstract

Objectives: The goal of this research is to investigate the scientific basis for integrating neuroscience in general, and cognitive neuroscience in particular, into the field of educational leadership. In recent decades, the scientific community has shown a great interest in integrating neuroscience into higher education and the many levels of leadership education and decision-making that are crucial to a range of educational difficulties that leadership leaders are called upon to handle. Methods/Analysis: The present effort involves a systematic review of research publications published in the preceding two decades after a keyword search of reputable international databases. This review incorporates papers from Scopus, PubMed, Elsevier, and PsycINFO databases. The terms neuroleadership and education were used in combination with the four subfields outlined in the research: Among them are decision-making and problem-solving abilities, emotional control, cooperation and influence with others, and facilitation of change. Findings: The review's results underscore the vital relevance of neuroscience integration into educational leadership difficulties and highlight ethical concerns regarding its deployment in educational settings.
