Abstract

This study examines the environmental literacy abilities of prospective Biology teacher students in the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP Sriwijaya University. The research subjects are Palembang and Indralaya class students who are teaching Human and Environmental Sciences Courses for the 2019/2020 academic year in Semester II. The skills measured in this study are Environmental Knowledge, Environmental Competence and Attitudes towards the environment formulated by the OECD and NAEE. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, with research subjects totaling 75 students. The technique of collecting data is through interviews, and surveys using an instrument sheet consisting of 20 multiple choice questions, 20 essays and 20 attitude scales. The data analysis technique used the SPSS 18 program. The test instrument used was modified from the Middle Schools Environment Survey/Instrument (MSELS/I) test questions and adapted to the physical conditions and environmental problems in the city of Palembang. The results showed that the prospective Biology teacher students were in the medium category for the Environmental Knowledge and Competence aspect, and got the high category for Environmental Attitudes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of the basic teaching skills of biology education students during microteaching lectures through an online learning model using peer assessment. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study consisted of 17 biology education students in the 6th semester of the 2019/2020 academic year. The technique of collecting data through observation uses a research instrument in the form of a rubric for assessing basic teaching skills, which is filled by lecturers and peers. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data display and conclusions. The observed teaching skill indicators consist of 8 components. Based on these 8 indicators, the results obtained are the skills of opening and closing learning, explaining skills, questioning skills, discussion guiding skills, and class management skills are in the skilled category, the skills to provide reinforcement and the skills to make variations are in the fairly skilled category, while the skills to use learning media are in the less skilled category. Overall, the basic teaching skills of biology education students have improved during the microetaching exercise using peer assessment.

Abstract

Existing learning has not fully facilitated 4C (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity) skills and there are obstacles for students to encounter in studying biology, especially the material about plant tissue. It happens due to various limitations in achieving basic competency skills. One of the learning approaches that can be used to support 4C skills is the STEM approach which is supported by student worksheets (SW) to guide the learning process. The purpose of this study was to measure the effectiveness of STEM-based SW to train students' creative thinking skills. The research method used is descriptive quantitative and qualitative with one group pre-test and post-test design. The research subjects were 21 students of XI grades at SMAK St.Hendrikus. Data analysis of the N-Gain test of creative thinking skills obtained an average N-gain of 0.7 with a medium category. The N-Gain analysis of creative thinking skills using the T-Test with a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 indicates that STEM-based worksheets are effective in training students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and practical science learning media that integrated with mobile application (EduKIT). This EduKIT provide activities so students can have experiences to string and think solution about any problems integrated by technology as demanded of Education in 21st century. This research using ADDIE model which is only limited to the development stage. At each stage, an evaluation process is carried out to produce the maximum product. To measure the validity and feasibility of the media, an instrument in the form of a questionnaire was used. Quantitative data is obtained from the score given by the validator against each criterion and indicator on the validation sheet. While the qualitative data is obtained from the advice given by the validator. The result shows that the EduKIT was highly valid to use with the percentage 98% and 99% for validation media and content validity respectively. This assessment was tested on two science education experts. While the result for the readability test by five teachers was 96% and 91% from ten junior students. Those percentage (>90%) show very practical and highly valid to be used. Based on the results of the validation and readibility test, it can be concluded that EduKIT was valid and practical, so it is suitable for students to use as a learning medium to practice problem solving skills in preparing the 21st century generation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of the E-Module Circular Motion Based Guided Inquiry. This research is a research development or Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The research instrument used was a validation sheet by the validator and student response questionnaires. The results of the validation sheet and student response questionnaires were assessed based on the Likert scale. The results of data analysis from the validation results of the E-Module Circular Motion Based on Guided Inquiry obtained a percentage of 92,02%. This shows that in general the E-Module Circular Motion Based on Guided Inquiry that was developed is very feasible to be used in learning circular motion material in class X SMK. E-Module Circular Motion Based on Guided Inquiry is a medium that can attract the attention of students.
