Abstract-This research was inspired by the learning activity in Social Science subjects in SMPN 19 Bandung which was still teacher-centered. The Social Science subject itself is a subject which compact with the content starting from the real one to the one which requires abstract thinking, it makes the Social Science a subject which needs to be student centered, so that the students can be more active during the learning process and be able to arrange their own concept in their cognitive structure. This research was aimed to examine the effectiveness of the use of board game media towards student’s comprehension in the concept of social science subjects, using the quantitative approach. As for the research design used was a quasi experiment with the type of non-equivalent, pretest-posttest. The samples of this research were VIII-A class as the experimental class, was received treatment with the implementation of board game and VIII-B class as the control class, the one who did not receive the treatment. The data collection was carried out by using the objective tests and interviews which conducted to teachers and students in the experiment class.  After the data was collected, the next step was

Abstract

Abstract-this study aims to know, analyze and evaluate the differences of students’ critical thinking skills by using problem based learning model and conventional models. This study uses a quasi-experimental method with quantitative approach using Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control-Group Design. The data collection technique used in this study is using the test. The data analysis technique is done by independent t-test sample. Moreover, this research shows the significant differences if seen from the average of percentage of  experiment class; pretest is less while posttest is so gratified. The result of pretest control class is less and posttest is enough The results of this research give the recommendation for teachers and next researchers to apply problem based learning model to enhance critical thinking ability of students. In addition, problem based learning model is also expected to encourage students to be able to solve problems encountered in everyday life, especially in social studies. Keywords: Problem based learning, conventional learning model and critical thinking.

Abstract

Abstract-This research is motivated by the problems found in the early observation in class VIII-1 / Ibnu Thufail Islamic intergrated of Junior High School Fitrah Insani II related to the critical thinking ability of learners. Lack of courage of learners in answering and asking is a low critical thinking indicator in Social studies learning. Alternative problem solving chosen is the application of cooperative learning model TPS (Think-Pair-Share) type. The problem formulation in this research is "whether by applying the TPS learning model can improve the critical thinking ability of learners?". The research method used is Classroom Action Research with research design is model Kemmis and Mc Taggart covering several stages there are, planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques used were observation, interview, documentation, and field notes. The critical thinking indicator developed in the study refers to the ability to provide simple explanations, build basic skills, make inferences, make further explanations, and organize strategies and techniques. The results concluded that first, the research planning is well designed by the teacher through the development of the model in accordance with the instrument made. Second, the implementation of the action is done in three cycles by distributing worksheets and video to learners for pair discussions. Third, learners experience improvement of critical thinking ability in every cycle. Fourth, the constraints that occur are time allocation, learners' understanding of learning steps, and classroom management. These constraints are resolved by improvements in each cycle. This research shows that cooperative learning model of TPS type can improve the critical thinking ability of students in social studies learning. Keywords: Critical Thinking, Cooperative Learning, TPS (Think-Pair-Share), Social Studies Learning

Abstract

Abstract-This study is motivated by the author’s curiosity towards the effectiveness of Cooperative Learning Model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type in improving student cooperation. The purpose of this study is to implementate the Cooperative Learning model Student Teams-Achievement Division (STAD) type to improve student cooperation that includes teamwork in solving problem and doing task, sharing ideas, asking and answering questions, interpersonal communication among students, students and teacher, students and informant, as well as respect for gender, ethnic, race, religion, socioeconomic status, culture and perspective differences. The implementation of learning to improve student cooperation is by implementing the Cooperative Learning model Student Teams-Achievement Division (STAD) Type in Social Science learning. Over three cycles have consistent improvements. In the first cycle, the observation on student cooperation is in the "adequate" category, because the students are lack of interactive communication among students, students and teacher, as well as the students are still lacking in a teamwork. In the second cycle, the result of student cooperation is in the "good" category. In this second cycle, it can be solved by teacher by making improvement and guiding students during teamwork process. In the last cycle, it experienced an increase into the category of "very good", because each student contributes directly or actively in the team. Of this study, it can be concluded that the implementation of Cooperative Learning model Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type in Social Science learning can improve student cooperation. Keywords: Cooperative learning STAD type, Cooperation skill, Social science learning

Abstract

Abstract-This study aims to test how much influence the model of cooperative learning type think pair and share (tps) on student cooperation (quasi experiment on social studies learning class VII in Cikajang Junior High School). The design used in this research is non-equevalent controlgroup with "before" and "after" pattern and treatment done on class VII-A as experiment class group. While VII-B as a control class group that made a comparison. Sampling used is purposive sample technique. Student cooperation data collection using closed questionnaire. After data collection, quantitative analysis is done through hypothesis or T-test. The results of differences between "before" and "after" in the experimental class given treatment showed significant improvement. In control classes between "before" and "after" that are not given treatment there is also a difference, but not an improvement but rather a decrease. So it can be concluded that there is influence of model cooperative learning type think pair and share (tps) to student's cooperation in social studies learning. Keywords: Student Cooperation, Cooperative Learning Type Think Pair and Share (TPS),Social Studies Learning
