Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik
Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik is a peer-reviewed journal published by Indonesian Political Science Association (AIPI) and collaboration with the Laboratory Department of Political Science based in Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). This journal published two times a year in january and july and all papers written in English or Bahasa .The aims of this journal is to provide a venue for academicians, researchers and practitioners for publishing the original research articles or review articles. Politeia is available in print and online version. ISSN number of this journal is ISSN 0216-9290 (Printed) and ISSN 2549-175X (Online).
The scope of the articles published in this journal deal with a broad range of topics in the fields of power, politics, election, conflict, policy, thought, democracy, and another section related contemporary issues in political science.

<![CDATA[This article provides a consistent description of the al-Washliyah as a third largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, and the largest in North Sumatra, related to their participation in the contestation in local elections (elections). Specifically, this article describes the transformation of Al-Washliyah from the cultural movement to electoral politics. This article argues that there are two factors that underlie why the polarization of attitudes about participation in the organizations members as candidates in the election: (1) The structure of the organization itself, and (2) an open political atmosphere. A fortune that organizations like al-Islam Washliyah active as a civic organization, has the advantage of the network through the womens wing organizations, students, youth, welfare agencies, educationand other forms of public service that provides the opportunity and the chance to follow in pilkada. However, the transformation of the organizations involvement in electoral politics explains the tendency delivers attention to strategies of non-participatory could be beneficial for those with the potential to change the social order in non-electoral method.Keywords: Islamic organization, cultural movement, electoral politics.]]>

<![CDATA[Political socialization is important in general election. Itâs effects wheather the vote would be good or bad. Partai Keadilan Sejahtera also do this way to influence voters. This study discuss-es about the method of DPD Partai Keadilan Sejahtera Kota Medan to successful legislative election in 2009. This study found there are three important method, that implemented by the the Partai Keadilan Sejahtera in political socialization. First, visit the community directly, par-ticular to each residence. Second, utilizing the approach of religious organizations; Third, uti-lizing the missionary activities in the mosques. The method this study is used qualitative de-scriptive. Colecting data of this study is using field research, eg. interview. <![CDATA[This study tried to describe the agrarian conflict that occurred in the village of Sei Mencirim and Namo Rube Julu, Kutalimbaru District, Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Where the purpose of this study is to discuss about any form of human rights violations that occurred in agrarian conflict in village of Sei Mencirim and Namo Rube Julu, Kutalimbaru District, Kab. Deli Serdang. Therefore, researcher used a case study design and method of interviews as the main data col-lection technique and the study relies on the analysis of interviews obtained and its relevance to the applicable laws and the theories used. The findings of this study, among others, there are three forms of human rights violations that occurred in the village of Namo Sei Mencirim and Rural Rube Julu. First, agricultural land owned by the people of widely plantations; Secondly, acts of violence experienced by farmers; Third, farmers do not receive the decent result of the production itself.Keywords: Conflict, human right, violence.]]>

<![CDATA[Pemilukada be held in Padang Lawas Utara in 2008. This is a study about the role of political elites in Pemilukada (the election of regional head) Padang Lawas Utara. The focus is to de-scribe the role of the elite (political parties) in the procces of winning pemilukada. This study is using political elite aproach. Colecting data of this study is using field research, eg. observa-tion, interview and study documents. The analysis using descriptive analysis. This study found that there are three important explanation about the role of elites to manage few leap to win pemilukada. First, internally, the elite contribute to bring over the main candidate to win inter-nal mechanism for certain (in internal party); Second, the elite set up the direction of coalition between political parties; Third, the elite have participated in defining campaign strategy.Keywords: Political strategy, campaign, political elite.]]>

<![CDATA[Russia as a socialist state is an important part of the history of the world. The history show Vla-dimir Lenin dan Boshelvik Party had successfully apply revolution theory which pioneered by Karl Marx. This study discusses about the steps are applied Lenins revolution and the Party Boshelvik to reach revolution (1917) in Russia. This study is using historical aproach (political history). Colecting data of this study is using secondary data which is obtained from books, lit-erature and document. The analysis using descriptive analysis. The findings ofthis study, there are two stages of revolution that Lenin and the Party Boshelvik applied. <![CDATA[General election of regional head (Pemilukada) is influenced by various factors. This study explains the influence of ethnics towards political choice in local election. This study is using political behavior approach. Collecting data of this study is using field research and data anal-ysis using quantitative and qualitative method. The finding is, influence of ethnics found in sev-eral voter especially in case Malay Riau ethnics. But, in other case, several voters from Java ethnic and another âvisitorsâ ethnics vote without identification of ethnic. It can be seen from the factors that influence voter for voting Zulkifli AS-dr Sunaryo candidate. In the local election of Dumai in 2005 found mostly voters who votes Zulkifli AS-Dr Sunaryo candidate did not vote because of ethnicsâ identification. So, in this case there is correlation between ethnics and polit-ical. But the relation is imperfect. In other words there are many another relations except eth-nicsâ factors that is linked with political choice in local election of Dumai City in 2005.Keywords: Voter behavior, local election, etnicity.]]>

Sebagai partai yang berlandaskan agama, dimana politik pembangunan PKS dilakukan melalui kegiatan gerakan dakwah. Studi ini berupaya menganalisis As a Religious party, political development of PKS from a dakwah (missionary) movement. Studi ini bermaksud menganalisis bagaimana PKS, yang didirikan melalui kegiatan dakwah yang kuat, mengambil keuntungan dari reformasi dan sesudahnya menjadi organisasi politik? Studi ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan teknik studi pustaka. Analisis data menggunakan metode analisis kualitatif. Temuan studi ini adalah bahwa keberhasilan PKS tidak dapat dipisahkan dari adanya kontribusi para aktivis dakwah kampus.Para aktivis kampus ini telah memiliki jaringan yang kuat dan luas dan memiliki pemahaman agama yang kuat. Ada juga dukungan dari para aktivis muslim. Era reformasi menjadi momentum bagi para aktivis dakwah tersebut membentuk sebuah partai politik.Kata Kunci: Kekuasaan, partai dakwah, reformasi politik.]]>

<![CDATA[This is a study about the role of elite Muhammadiyah in Palembang in Local Election 2008. This study is using political behavior approach. Method of data collection using field studies (in-depth interview). Data analysis is using quantitative and qualitative method. The findings of this study that local election as one of the momentum of political contestation at the local level, especially the role of local elites Muhammadiyah Palembang. However, most of the local elite Muhammadiyah does not participate actively sponsoring candidate local elections (Walikota and Wakil Walikota Palembang) 2008-2013. Only a small part is doing it. This study describe that it is difficult to separate the interests of the local elite who linkages actively participating as a team succeed or else toward the Muhammadiyah organization in the city of Palembang. This is because they activity always giving effect to the Muhammadiyah. <![CDATA[This is a study about the political of regional head to strengthen the power. This study is using political system approach. Data collection is using field study techniques and literature (method interviews, library research (library research) and study documents. Analysis is using qualita-tive technique, especially descriptive analysis method. The finding of this study is the head of the region have a tendency to magnify its power. There is no execption to the regional head which is the individual candidates. This is because in politics, great powers it needed to run and maintain power. In the case in Kabupaten Batubara, efforts to to strengthen the power can be seen from the success of OK Arya Zulkarnain gaining a strategic position in a political parties. OK Arya Zulkarnain joined the Golkar Party and also became Chairman of DPD Kabupaten Batubara of the Golkar Party period (2010-2015). So the influence of OK Arya Zulkarnain in parliament becomes larger. <![CDATA[This is a study about regional partition. Especially about aspirations about regional partition in Medan City. As known, in the year 2011 there is discourse about the formation of the Medan Utara City in Medan City. This idea was reported in various media. Interestingly this idea received from various community. This study analyzes the background of the aspirations of the regional partition. Analysis method is using qualitative analysis. This study found that in the case in Medan City, the aspiration about regional partition motivated by a variety of things. One of them is the economic background. There are economic disparities in the core area of the city and the suburbs. In addition there is also a background of the interests of local elites. However local ethnic interests is not raised it is because the area is not the area where the majority ethnic settled.
