This journal, with ISSN 2088-1290, was firstly published on June 1, 2011, in the context to commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila's Name in Indonesia. Since issue of June 2012 to December 2014, the ATIKAN journal was organized by the Lecturers of FKIP UNSUR (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Suryakancana University) in Cianjur; and, since issue of December 2014 to June 2015, by the Lecturers of FPOK UPI (Faculty of Sport and Health Education, Indonesia University of Education) in Bandung; and published by Minda Masagi Press as a publisher owned by ASPENSI (the Association of Indonesian Scholars of History Education) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in ATIKAN journal are able to be written in English as well as in Indonesian and Malay languages. This journal is published twice a year i.e. every June and December. The ATIKAN journal is devoted, but not limited to, primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. The scope of our journal includes: (1) Language and literature education; (2) Social science education; (3) Sports and health education; (4) Economy and business education; (5) Math and natural science education; (6) Vocational and engineering education; and (7) Visual arts, dance, music, and design education.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Matematika, terutama materi Kalkulus, merupakan pelajaran yang sukar karena mengandung konsep yang sangat rinci. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) ini bermaksud untuk pengembangan sumber pengajaran berbentuk pedoman praktikum dan lembar kerja Kalkulus dengan menggunakan program maple. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah para mahasiswa semester empat Pendidikan Matematika di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan  UNSUR (Universitas Suryakancana) di Cianjur, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: Skala sikap, Lembar observasi, Lembar kerja evaluasi praktikum, dan Tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pengembangan sumber pengajaran Kalkulus dengan menggunakan program maple sangat efektif; (2) pemahaman dan gambaran mahasiswa meningkat secara signifikan tetapi masih di bawah indikator; dan (3) sikap mahasiswa terhadap praktikum Kalkulus sangat positif. KATA KUNCI: Kalkulus, program maple, kompetensi, pemahaman, dan presentasi mahasiswa. ABSTRACT: Mathematics, especially Calculus, is a difficult subject due to contain a detailed concept. This classroom action research is intended for teaching resource development in form of practicum guidance and Calculus work sheet by using maple program. Subjects in this research are students of fourth-semester of Mathematics education at the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UNSUR (Suryakancana University) in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia. Instruments used in this research included: Attitude scale, Observation sheet, Work sheet of practicum evaluation, and Test. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Since time immemorial, the Muslim youth who obtained Madrasah education are in doldrums in a modern world. It’s accepted phenomenon that Madrasah had played a vital role in preaching the gospels of the great faith Islam. In the meanwhile, they dodged to keep their level with the modern education due to certain vincible hitches. At the threshold of the Islamic education, Muslim youth of Madrasahs are unable to have modern education because of which they become peregrinators. In addition, Madrasah people are following the age old syllabi, whereas they abstain themselves to opt for modern syllabi. Moreover, it’s a right time for the learned Muslims to ferret out the loopholes and pitfalls in the Madrasah education system whereby reformation and rejuvenation could be done. In order to bolster the Muslim youth to go for modern education, Madrasah people have to jettison the prejudices towards modern education and reckon the scientific education with the Islamic education. The assessment and assertion of this study is that Muslims should come forward to juxtapose Islamic education with modern education. KEY WORD: Madrasah education, modern education, Muslim society, India nation-state, and reform in education.IKHTISAR: Sudah sejak lama, para pemuda Muslim yang mendapatkan pendidikan Madrasah menjadi lesu di dunia modern. Adalah fenomena yang tak terbantahkan bahwa Madrasah memainkan peran yang sangat penting dalam mengajarkan keyakinan Islam. Sementara itu, mereka mengelak untuk mempertahankan level mereka dengan pendidikan modern dikarenakan rintangan tertentu. Pada awal pendidikan Islam, para pemuda Muslim dari Madrasah ini tidak mampu memiliki pendidikan modern dikarenakan mereka merupakan para musafir. Selain itu, orang-orang dari Madrasah ini mengikuti silabus lama, sementara mereka tidak mau memilih silabus modern. Maka, inilah waktu yang tepat bagi para Muslim yang belajar untuk menemukan jalan keluar dan perangkap dalam sistem pendidikan Madrasah dimana pembaharuan dan peremajaan dapat dilakukan. Untuk mendukung para pemuda Muslim melalui pendidikan modern, orang-orang Madrasah ini harus melepaskan prasangka terhadap pendidikan modern dan menggabungkan pendidikan ilmiah dengan pendidikan Islam. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa Kelas VIII-A SMP (Sekolah Menengah Pertama) Negeri 1 Gunung Jati di Cirebon melalui pembelajaran kooperatif dengan tipe NHT (Number Head Together). Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Januari hingga April 2011. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode PTK (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) selama tiga siklus. Setiap siklus pada penelitian meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Data diperoleh dalam bentuk kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada setiap siklus mengalami kemajuan dan perbaikan. Hal itu bermakna bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif dengan tipe NHT dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa.KATA KUNCI: Pelajaran Fisika, pembelajaran kooperatif, tipe Number Head Together, dan motivasi belajar siswa. ABSTRACT: This study aimed at improving learning motivation of VIII-A grade students in the State Junior High School 1 Gunung Jati, Cirebon through cooperative learning with NHT (Number Head Together) type. This study was conducted from January to April 2011. This study also used Classroom Action Research method for three cycles. Each cycles included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data was obtained in form of qualitative and quantitative. The reserach finding showed that every cycles had progress and improvement. It meant that cooperative learning with NHT type could improve the students’ learning motivation. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Proses genesis dan perkembangan nasionalisme di Indonesia memiliki sejarah yang panjang dan dinamis. Pengenalan sistem pendidikan modern pada awal abad ke-20 telah melahirkan golongan elite terdidik dan cendekiawan yang tercerahkan. Sekat-sekat etnisitas mulai mencair dan gambaran imajiner tentang negara-bangsa yang bernama “Indonesia” mulai diwacanakan dan diperjuangkan agar menjadi kenyataan. Proses modernisasi dan pembangunan pasca kemerdekaan melahirkan banyak harapan agar Indonesia merupakan “proyek bersama” bagi semua anak bangsa. Namun gejala ketidakpuasan terhadap proses dan hasil pembangunan juga muncul yang ditopang oleh akar-akar etnisitas yang kembali menguat. Masalah etnisitas, nasionalitas, dan integrasi nasional di Indonesia memiliki konteks historis yang khas. Akhirnya, diperlukan kearifan sejarah untuk bisa mewujudkan Indonesia menjadi negara-bangsa yang maju, sejahtera, dan merdeka bagi semua anak bangsa di masa depan.KATA KUNCI: Etnisitas, nasionalitas, golongan cendekiawan, negara-bangsa Indonesia, dan integrasi nasional.ABSTRACT: The genesis process and nationalism development in Indonesia has its long journey and dynamic history. The introduction of modern education in the early 20th century has emerged the educated elite group and enlightened intellectuals. Ethnicity gaps have melted and an imagined community, i.e. “Indonesia”, has begun to be discussed and struggled in order to be realized. Modernization process and post-independence development have resulted in wishes to make Indonesia become “collective project” for all people of nation-state. However, the symptom of dissatisfaction on the development process and result appeared which were supported by ethnicity roots that were stronger. The problems of ethnicity, nationality, and national integration in Indonesia have particular historical context. Abstract

ABSTRACT: A number of scholars have identified considerable features in describing and conceptualizing school climate, using the characteristics of the school total means of operation. This paper discusses on school climate and students dropouts, focussing on a global perspective. This reviews the conceptual position of students dropouts from the perspective of the developed and developing nations, various school climate factors that lead to students dropouts where outlined, and the features of positive and negative school climate where clarified. Both in the developed and developing nations, it was identified that school climate can force students to dropouts from school and at the same time help a students to be successful. But the school climate of the developing nations is facing challenges of schools facilities to build up a fruitful teaching and learning climate. Some major problems facing schools of the developed nations are not the issues of policy toward school, because the schools have all the facilities required for a good school climate.KEY WORD: School climate, students’ dropout, developed and developing nations, and global perspective.IKHTISAR: Beberapa sarjana telah mengenal pasti ciri-ciri yang besar dalam menerangkan dan menkonsepkan iklim sekolah, menggunakan ciri-ciri bagaimana sesebuah sekolah beroperasi. Kertas kerja ini membincangkan tentang iklim sekolah dan keciciran pelajar yang memberi tumpuan kepada perspektif global. Kertas ini mengkaji kedudukan konsep pelajar tercicir dari perspektif negara-negara maju dan membangun, pelbagai faktor iklim sekolah yang membawa kepada keciciran pelajar dikenalpasti, dan ciri-ciri iklim sekolah yang positif dan negatif dijelaskan. Di negara-negara maju dan membangun telah dikenal pasti bahawa iklim sekolah boleh menyebabkan pelajar tercicir dari sekolah dan pada masa yang sama membantu pelajar untuk berjaya. Tetapi iklim sekolah di negara-negara membangun menghadapi cabaran bagi menyediakan kemudahan sekolah untuk membina dan menghasilkan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang terbaik. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Kekayaan alam dan budaya Cianjur perlu dikenali, diapresiasi, diekspresikan, dan dikreasikan sebagai wujud syukur masyarakat Cianjur kepada pencipta-Nya. Hal ini merupakan salah satu implementasi dari program Kabupaten Cianjur, yakni “Gerbang Marhamah”. Beragam keunggulan budaya lokal yang ada di Cianjur telah dikenal luas, baik oleh masyarakat Indonesia maupun dunia. Budaya Cianjur seperti “Mamaos” (budaya), “Ngaos” (agama), dan “Maenpo” (tangguh) merupakan budaya yang unik di dunia. Keunikannya itu akan dapat diapresiasi, diekspresikan, dan dikreasikan apabila disosialisasikan melalui bacaan. Sampai saat ini, bacaan tidak dapat dipisahkan dari pendidikan – yang merupakan jembatan bagi peningkatan sumber daya manusia. Pengungkapan potensi ke-Cianjur-an melalui bacaan diharapkan berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan literasi masyarakat Cianjur. KATA KUNCI: Potensi budaya, literasi, modal sosial, masyarakat Cianjur, bangsa Indonesia, dan era globalisasi.ABSTRACT: Natural and cultural richness of Cianjur needs to be recognized, appreciated, expressed, and improvised as an Cianjur society’s act of gratitude to her Creator. This is one of the implementation of the Cianjur District program, "Gerbang Marhamah" (the gate of love and affection). Various superior local cultural in Cianjur has been widely recognized, both by the people of Indonesia and the world. Cianjur’s cultures like "Mamaos" (culture), "Ngaos" (religion), and "Maenpo" (honesty) is a unique culture in the world. Its uniqueness would be appreciated, expressed, and improvised if it’s been socialized through reading. Until now, the readings cannot be separated from education – which is the bridge for the improvement of human resources. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Karya adiguna suatu masyarakat akan membentuk kebudayaan. Di dalam abad ke-21, penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan dan penerapan teknologi harus ditumbuhkan bersama dengan penghayatan terhadap ilmu-ilmu social dan humaniora untuk membangun kebudayaan yang utuh oleh seluruh anggota masyarakat. Tudingan miring yang tertuju kepada kita bahwa bangsa Indonesia seolah-olah telah kehilangan karakter, jatidiri, kepercayaan, dan gagap dalam menghadapi pertarungan antar bangsa harus ditepis dengan upaya menternakkan daya dorong kemajuan kedalam elan vital bangsa. Secara nyata, masa sekarang dan masa di depan kita terkembang oleh ekonomi beralaskan kekokohan sains dan penerapan teknologi. Dengan kata bersayap, kita harus membangun dan menstrukturkan kehidupan bangsa dan kebangsaan dengan tata harapan dan cita-cita agar mampu mengembangkan dan mengatur diri kita sendiri. Dengan sejujurnya kita perlu mengusung unggulan daya pikir dan kemampuan nalar pengetahuan bagi generasi muda kedalam sendi kehidupan, serta memilah sumber daya pembaharu sambil terus menafikan sikap semata-mata enggan menampung perubahan.  KATA KUNCI: Memijah ilmu, budaya dan karakter bangsa, etos kerja, sains dan teknologi, serta kemajuan dan kesejahteraan bangsa.ABSTRACT: A magnum opus of society will create culture. In the twenty first century, the mastery of science and application of technology should be developed together with the  social sciences and  humanities in order to achieve cultural values relevant to the society. Accusations that have been directed to us that Indonesian namely loosing our culural identities and  characters and harboring incompetency in the struggle of obtaining a better position among nations should be countered by our positive commitments to develop science-based economy. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Kertas ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbezaan amalan kecemerlangan sekolah dalam kalangan dua jenis sekolah berprestasi tinggi di Malaysia, iaitu SBP (Sekolah Berasrama Penuh) dan SMKA (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama). Kerangka teori kajian daripada Muhammad Faizal A. Ghani (2008) telah digunakan dalam kajian ini. Kerangka kajian tersebut memiliki 7 dimensi sebagai faktor penyumbang kepada keberkesanan sekolah, iaitu: kepimpinan sekolah yang profesional, persekitaran sekolah yang kondusif, menumpukan pengajaran dan pembelajaran, harapan yang tinggi, penilaian berterusan, permuafakatan antara sekolah dan rumah, serta sekolah sebagai organisasi pembelajaran. Data  dikumpulkan menggunakan soal selidik yang diedarkan kepada 180 guru SBP dan 180 guru SMKA. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif seperti peratusan, dan statistik inferensi iaitu ujian Mann-Whitney U. Kajian ini mendapati perbezaan yang ketara wujud antara SBP dengan SMKA dalam mengamalkan amalan kecemerlangan sekolah. KATA KUNCI: Amalan kecermelangan, sekolah berprestasi, sekolah berasrama penuh, dan sekolah menengah kebangsaan agama di Malaysia.ABSTRACT: This article analyzes differences in the operation of school excellence practices in two types of the high achievement schools in Malaysia i.e. boarding schools and religious schools. Theoretical framework of Muhammad Faizal A. Ghani (2008) was used in this study. The framework addresses the following 7 dimensions as contributing factors to the effectiveness of the schools, i.e. professional leadership, conducive school environment, concentrate of teaching and learning, high expectations, continuous assessment, collaboration and cooperation between school and home, and the school as a learning organization. The data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 180 boarding school teachers and 180 religious school teachers. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, and inferential statistics i.e. Mann-Whitney U test. This study found that a significant difference exists between the boarding schools and the religious schools in practicing the following excellence school practices.KEY WORD: Excellence practices, achievement school, boarding schools, and religious schools in Malaysia.About the Author: Muhammad Faizal A.
