Abstract

This research was instigated by Chemistry subject that only had concepts, it did not connect the concepts to daily life.  This research aimed at knowing designing and testing Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson and knowing the levels of validity and practicality of Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media.  It was a Research and Development (R&D) with Borg and Gall development model.  It was administered at Islamic Integrated Senior High School of Al-Ittihad Pekanbaru.  The subjects of this research were material experts, media experts, Chemistry subject teachers, and the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science.  The object was Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media on Hydrocarbon lesson.  Media could be proper, if it was valid and practical.  Validity percentage obtained from material experts was 93.30% (very valid), validity percentage obtained from media experts was 96% (very valid), practicality percentage obtained from chemistry subject teachers was 84.60% (very practical), and 84% students responded very well to overall design of Macromedia Flash media.  Based on these results, it could be identified that Problem Based Learning based Macromedia Flash media could be implemented in the next stage. Keywords:  Macromedia Flash Media, Problem Based Learning, Hydrocarbon

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of understanding of students on colloidal concepts in chemistry learning and the absence of chemistry student workbook based problem solving. In this study a chemistry student workbook based problem solving design was designed to support learning in colloid lesson. It was a Research and Development (R&D) method with Borg and Gall design. This research was administrated at State Senior High School 1 Salo. Subject of this research were Media design experts, Learning lesson experts, chemistry teachers and tenth student at the tweleve grade of MIPA. Object of this research were chemistry student workbook based problem solving on colloid lesson. The instruments of this research were questionnaire of validity test by the experts and questionnaire of practicality test by teacher and students. Student workbook was good if it was valid and practice aspect quality. Validity and practicality could be seen from the result of validity and practicality by using validity and practicalities sheets. The level percentage of validity was 91.5% (Very valid) and level of practicality was 87.72% (Very practice). From the identifiy result that student workbook testing was good and practice to be an additional teaching material for teachers at school.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was instigated by Chemistry subject at State Senior High School 1 Siak Hulu that was dominated by Lecturing method, and the low of student scores on Atomic Structure lesson in the Academic Year of 2016/2017.  This research aimed at knowing the effect of Joyful Learning model with Recitation method using Physical Self-Assessment learning strategy toward student learning achievement on Atomic Structure lesson.  Experimental method was used in this research with True experimental pretest posttest control group design.  Purposive sampling technique was used in this research.  The samples were the tenth-grade students of Natural Science 1 as the experimental group and the students of Natural Science 2 as the control group.  The used instruments were learning achievement test that was supported by observation sheet and documentation.  The research findings showed that tobserved score 2.74 and ttable was 2.00.  It showed that tobserved was higher than ttable, there was an effect on learning achievement, and the effect was 11.5%.  So, it could be concluded that there was an effect of Joyful Learning model with Recitation method using Physical Self-Assessment learning strategy at State Senior High School 1 Siak.Keywords:     Joyful Learning Model, Recitation Method, Physical Self-Assessment Learning Strategy, Learning Achievement, Atomic Structure

Abstract

AbstractThe background of this research is difficulty of understanding chemical concepts by students. The teacher-centered learning strategy causes students potential and abilities at learning activities in the classroom does not develope. This research aimed at analyzing how student science process skill at the eleventh grade of Natural Science through Practical Work method, analysis is the first step for teacher to develop process-oriented learning strategies. It was conducted at the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science on Reaction Rate lesson at the first semester in the Academic Year of 2018/2019, and it was administered at State Senior High School 2 Siak Hulu. It was a quantitative descriptive research. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research and the samples were 34 students. The instruments used to know student response and to strengthen the results of the obtained data were practicum performance instrument, essay test, and interview. The results of analyzing the data showed that student science process skill through Practical Work method overall was on enough category.  The highest aspect of the science process skill was observing with 53,3% mean percentage, and the lowest aspect is classification with 34% mean percentage. The highest aspect through essay test is communicating with 58.5% mean percentage, and the lowest aspect is classifying with 36.4% mean percentage. Keywords: Science Process Skill, Practical Work Method, Reaction Rate

Abstract

ABSTRACT The design and testing of green chemistry practicum by utilizing scrap metal in voltaic cells has been carried out with the R&D approach. R&D research used with the 4 Stages of Research Implementation. Based on the results of the study obtained an average value of practical guidance in terms of material, media and teacher ratings respectively 4.76, 4.62, and 4.56. With the percentage values obtained respectively at 95.2%, 92.4%, and 94.8%. The results of the trial obtained ease in implementing the lab guide. Practicum guides can be used as a reference for students in practicum and can be used as a reference for teachers in guiding students. Keywords: green chemistry, scrap metal, voltaic cells, R&D research

Abstract

This research was instigated by the low of student learning achievement, student learning interest, and the use of internet based instructional media at the school.  It was based on the results of preliminary observation that was conducted in the Chemistry learning process.  The use of Quipper School instructional media aimed at increasing student learning interest in order to increase student learning achievement.  This research aimed at knowing whether there was an effect of learning using Quipper School media toward student learning achievement and interest on Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution lesson.  It was an experimental research.  All the tenth-grade students of Senior High School of Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru, there were 6 classes and 166 students.  Purposive sampling technique was used in this research.  In this case, the tenth-grade students of Natural Science 3 were selected as the samples based on the observation in the field and Chemistry subject teacher consideration at the school.  There were two instruments, student learning interest questionnaire and learning achievement test question.  Techniques of processing and analyzing the data were descriptive and inferential statistics.  The results of hypothesis testing in this research showed that there was an effect of using quipper school media toward student learning achievement and interest, tobserved ≥ ttable (2.064>9.820) and there was an effect of using Quipper School media toward student learning achievement. The score was tobserved≥ttable (2.064>9.820),   So, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted.  Based on the research findings, it could be concluded that  there was an effect of learning using Quipper School media  toward student learning achievement and interest on Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution lesson.Keywords:     Learning Achievement, Learning Interest,  Quipper School, Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solution

Abstract

Critical thinking skills is a very important aspect that students must have in learning chemistry, especially in solving problems that require deeper alternative solutions. This research aims to analyze the relationship of critical thinking on student learning outcomes on salt hydrolysis material. In this research, there were 48 students sampled, the technique used for sampling was purposive sampling. For data analysis in this research using correlation and regression tests with a probability value of 0.05. From the results of the linearity and correlation tests found that students 'critical thinking skills have a relationship with student learning outcomes on salt hydrolysis material by 0.599 and the regression results also show the same thing that there is a significant relationship between students' critical thinking skills with learning outcomes on salt hydrolysis material that is seen from the comparison of the significance value (0,000) with a probability value (0.05), (0,000 <0.05) means that there is a positive relationship between critical thinking skills with student learning outcomes on salt hydrolysis material in SMAN 1 Kampar. The contribution or contribution of students' critical thinking skills to learning outcomes in the hydrolysis material is 35.9% while the remaining 64.1% is influenced by other factors. The higher the level of critical thinking skills of students, the greater the significant functional relationship to learning outcomes, and also the greater contribution / contribution of critical thinking skills to student learning outcomes.Keywords : Critical thinking skills, learning outcomes, correlation and regression analysis, salt hydrolysis
