Abstract

Kalanchoe pinnata leaves was used as an alternative medicine by the people of Indonesia, such as burned wound healing. This research was done to determine whether the three fractions (fraction polar, semi-polar and non-polar) has a healing activity burns on white male rats 25 male rats was divided into five groups positive control (Bioplacenton®), negative control (Base Gel) and three groups of variations of the fraction (fraction polar, semi-polar and non-polar fraction. The backs of rats induced hot metal with a temperature of 100oC and with a diameter 2x2 cm for 30 seconds. Observations diameter wound was observed on days 3,6,9,12 and 15 with the parameters of diameter reduction burns and days where faster wound shut. Polar fraction Kalanchoe pinnata with a dose of 1,29%, semi-polar fraction of 0,05% and 0,03% non-polar fractions in a gel formulation has a burned wound healing activity starting from day 12.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder that leading the blood sugar levels become higher than normal. In Indonesia, one of the plants that traditionally used to cure hyperglycemic is raru plant (Vatica pauciflora). The objectives of this research was to investigate α-glucosidase inhibitory activity from stem bark, root, and leaf of raru plant. Extraction of stem bark, root, and leaf was conducted with reflux at 70 °C by using water as a solvent. In vitro anti-diabetic activity was tested using the method of α-glucosidase inhibition. The results show that water extracts of raru’s stem bark, root, and leaf have α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. The stem bark water extract has the highest activity than leaf and root with IC50 values were 13.53, 16.96, and 41.91 ppm respectively. All extracts is categorized as active in inhibiting the activity of α-glucosidase enzyme by having IC50≤100 ppm. The results obtain in this research clearly indicate a promising potential as anti-diabetic properties of raru plant.

Abstract

The research about the effect of lime (Citrus aurantifolia (chrism.) Swing) to levels of triglycerides and body weight of male rats (Rattus norvegicus) wistar strain at a doses of 1.5, 3 and 4.5 ml/kg body weight has done. This study conducted on five groups consisted of norml control , negative control (-), dose of 1.5; 3 and 4 ml/kg body weight, each group consisted of 5 rats , The normal control group were given regular feed, control (-) was given 2 ml cow's brain and regular feed then the test group were given lime each with a dose of 1.5, 3 and 4.5 ml / kg body weight was added with 2 ml of cow's brain and regular feed. The method of measurement used is Enzymatic Colorimetric Test GPO (Glycerol-3-Phosphate Oxidase) at a wavelength of 546 nm. The results showed that administration of lime doses of 3 and 4.5 ml/kg body weight have a significant difference (p <0,05) to the control (-). However, at a dose of 4.5 ml/kg body weight more effectively and more quickly lowering triglyceride levels because the first measurement time of the second measurement time already showed a significant difference (p<0,05) .

Abstract

Glioma is a type of primary malignant brain tumor. The presence of gliomas can be characterized by a mutation R132H of isocitrate dehydrogenase type 1 (IDH1). IDH1 (R132H) contains specific immunogenic epitopes to the tumor. It is appropriate to be used as a gliomas vaccine. Therefore, it was necessary to do homology modeling for IDH1 (R132H) epitopes. TMHMM, MEMSAT-SVM and MEMSAT3 were used to predict transmembrane topology of IDH1 (R132H). Analysis of IDH1 (R132H) epitopes was performed using NetMHCII and IEDB®. The antigenicity of epitopes were predicted using VaxiJen to obtained 91 epitopes. Homology modeling using Modeller, I-TASSER and (PS)2 was established for the epitopes that have probability as tumor antigen. The results of homology modeling of IDH1 (R132H) epitopes were validated by MolProbity, ProSA-web dan QMEAN. A 3D stucture model of the epitopes was selected from three models from the homology modeling based on the validation results. Refinement was established on the epitopes using GalaxyRefine and GROMACS for energy minimization.

Abstract

Furosemide is a diuretic having low solubility and low bioavailability thus the diuretic activity is not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of furosemide SNEDDS formation to the diuretic activity. SNEDDS was made with a mixture of 66% tween 80, 26% propilene glycol, 8% oleic acid and furosemide 40 mg/mL. A total of 20 test animals were divided into 4 groups, namely the negative control 1 (CMC 0,5% suspension), negativ control 2 (a mixture of tween 80, propilene glycol and oleic acid), furosemid suspension and SNEDDS furosemid. Tests on the diuretic activity is done by measuring the volume of urine released for 6 hours.Furosemide SNEDDS could enhance the diuretic activity of furosemide.
