Abstract

Abstract: Abdurrahman Wahid or often known as Gus Dur, is a nationalist thinker, writer and kyai in Indonesia. His ideas and thoughts have given a glimmer of light to some Indonesian Muslims about the importance of respecting and living tolerance. In his intellectual perspective, the basic foundation for building a pluralistic Indonesia is based on a national cultural and ideological foundation, none other than Pancasila. Because these two foundations build on the history of nationalism, both personally and collectively. Grounding Islam as one of Gus Dur's noble nawacitas to unite the values ​​and norms of religious spirituality, namely the beauty of religion. In this article the author uses a biographical approach. The concept of historical writing: data, facts, sources and methods. With several approaches, concepts and methodologies of historical research, this writing uses a literature review or literature study with several primary and secondary historical sources from Gus Dur's works as well as several other writers who discuss Gus Dur and scientific journals. Gus Dur's thinking is a thought based on pluralism-humanism, Pancasila, Islamic indigenization and Islamic cosmopolitanism.

Abstract

Abstract: Problems that still often arise in social life today are ethical issues, especially in terms of maintaining privacy, both in the real world and in the virtual world (digital). Starting to lose awareness of asking for permission and waning understanding of the boundaries of privacy has the potential to cause various problems and even criminal acts in the future. So it is important to describe how the Qoran teaches adab isti'dzan (asking permission) to take moral values ​​and practice them in life. Through the ma'na-cum-maghza approach, this paper aims to analyze QS. An-Nur (24): 27 regarding how the Qoran talks about the ethics of asking for permission and its relation to maintaining privacy. This is done in order to prove that the Qoran is still shalih li kulli zaman wa makan (relevant for every time and place) and can be used as a reference in solving contemporary problems. The results of this study indicate that the Qoran through QS. An-Nur (24): 27 not only prohibits entering the house without the permission of the owner, but it can also be understood in the current context that it contains a prohibition not to disturb other people's personal data in the digital world so thatcyber crimecan be avoided.

Abstract

Abstract: Containing muti-interpretative text, al-Qur’an as the main text in Islam has been interpreted in varoius methods producing too much interpretation result. Not only protected in the authenticity, al-Qur’an should be protected by correct interpretations. Without the proper ones, its function as hudan li al-nās will not be realized. Unfortunately, Uṣūl al-tafsīr as a discipline that protects the validity of interpretation was not as popular as other diciplines like nahw and uṣūl fiqh. This article discusses uṣūl al-tafsīr as an academic discipline taking strategic position is Islamic studies. By studying some literatures, this article concludes that uṣūl al-tafsīr is a part of ulūm al-Qur’ān that is focused on the ways, methods and rules of how al-Quran should be interpreted. Even uṣūl al-tafsīr has been established during prophet’s era, uṣūl al-tafsīr was developed significantly in the 8th century AH which marked by the emergence of books of ulūm al-Qur’ān. Passing more various problems in contemporary era, scholars should develop the studies and research on uṣūl al-tafsīr.

Abstract

Abstract: This study explains about Shaykh Ahmad Khatib al-Minakabawi and his response to the problems that occurred in the archipelago in the 19th-20th centuries AD. This study aims to analyze the teaching of Shaykh Ahmad Khatib to reformers in the archipelago who had studied with him in Mecca as well as scientific works that were a response to problems in the archipelago in the 19-20 century AD. The research method used studies literature, namely a qualitative descriptive study with historical analysis to examine data on the contribution of Shaykh Ahmad Khatib. The results of this study explain that Shaykh Ahmad Khatib is a professor of the Nusantara ulema in Mecca who has succeeded in guiding them to become reformers in the archipelago and has great attention to the problems that occur in the archipelago which he responds with scientific works to explain and straighten these problems.

Abstract

Abstract: This article explores the Sufistic thoughts of Nashruddin Hodja with a focus on the study of the moral and spiritual messages analyze which contained in the works of comical tales. One of humorous Sufis who implemented his Sufism work is Nashruddin Hodja. He used this approach to educate the public and criticize the unjust rulers at the time of the 13th-century Mongol invasion of Turkey. The primary source of this research is a book written by Hodja under the title The Turkish Jester or The Pleasantries of Cogia Nasr Eddin Effendi: 1984. The researchers used qualitative methods analyzed using Schleiermacher's hermeneutic approach, which is grammatical interpretation and psychological interpretation. The result of this research indicates Nashruddin Hodja has Sunni Sufistic thought in terms of text and his psychology. The topics raised are human attitudes to God, individual and social ethics. Then the result can be formulated as a new approach in Sufism likes purifying the soul and fostering morals with an esoteric humorous nuance.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to observe the contestation and academic reception of fatwas issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) regarding Covid-19. These fatwas invite many responses in academic circles written in reputable journal articles. With a qualitative research paradigm and using Hans Robert Jauss text reception theory, this research concludes that; this study found four typologies of the MUI Fatwa monograph on Covid-19 during 2020-2021; namely (1) Monograph Typology, which discusses the Role of Fatwa (6 titles); (2) Discussing aspects of contact with other scientific disciplines, such as Maqāṣid,; (3) Unraveling the 'tangled thread' conflicting interpretations of the fatwa; (4) an article that measures the level of obedience of the Indonesian Muslim community to the MUI fatwa. Of the existing articles, 13 were built with justification based on the text, 5 articles were built with apologetic reasoning, and 3 used critical reasoning. From this conclusion, this study confirms that the academic response to the MUI Fatwa on Covid-19 also experienced Fragmentation, Resistance, and Appreciation.
