Abstract

Condition Index (CI) of mussel is one of parameters used to analysis mussel health.  Interstingly, many researchers produce different CI formula.  This study was conducted to study the most appropriate CI formula to determine the health of green mussel, Perna vidiris. Four hundred of green mussel were colected from pollueted (Makassar) and expected unpolluted (Mandalle, Pangkajene and Kepulauan/Pangkep) areas. Afterward, the mussels were tranfered using cool box to laboratory for further analysis.  Some morphomometry parameters, tissue and shell weigth were measured to fulfil 10 types of CI formula. Lead content of mussel’s tissue was analyzed using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). The result revealed that the use of CI1-6 and 9 were influenced by shell lenght.  In contrast, the use of CI7 and 8 were not affected by shell length. The average of lead content in mussel’s tissue was 7.87 ± 0.53.  This value has exceeded the consumption threshold for shellfish biota.The results suggested that CI 8 is the most practical condition index used for environmental monitoring. Keywords : Valuable Condition Index, Makassar Waters, Toxicity of Lead, Eco-sentinel Organism, green mussel health

Abstract

The suitability research of Bungin Island for snorkeling ecotourism in Tambelan Subdistrict aims to determine suitability of the Bungin Island area for snorkeling ecotourism. The methods was used to determine the stations for data collection in this area using purposive sampling method based on the location of coral. Results of the research parameters taken from each station were as follows: (1) coral cover at station 1 is 48% or conditional according to snorkeling ecotourism as well as at station 2 and station 3 which is 69% and 65.6% which means suitable for snorkeling ecotourism , (2) the water brightness in each station is 100%, (3) the total types of coral life forms obtained by each station are 12 species which are dominated by coral massive and acropora branching, (4) total species of reef fish are 57 species of reef fish that is 56 types at station 1, 51 types at station 2 and 52 types at station 3, (5) current speed ranges obtained at each station ranging from 9.51-14.02 cm / second, (6) as for the range of depth levels of each 1.6-2.0 meter station, (7) the width of the reef stretch in the north of the island ranges from 51.3 to 113 meters (8) accessibility is classified as S3 according to conditional, based on the suitability index of Bungin Island ecotourism area suitable for ecow say snorkeling.

Abstract

Estimating the number of phytoplankton is something important in the field of aquatic science, including the field of aquatic ecotoxicology. Turbiditimeter is a device that can determine the level of turbidity of the water both caused by non-organic and organic matter, such as phytoplankton. Preliminary research has been conducted to estimate the number of phytoplankton, Spirulina, using turbiditymeter. The results showed that the correlation between the number of Spirulina which was directly estimated using the haemocytometer and the turbidity level detected by the turbiditimeter was statistically very strong and significant statistically (R = 0.9762 and S = 0.012). The linear equations of the correlation can be used to estimate the number of Spirulina with an error of 4.17-20.99% indirectly.  The conclusion of this study is that turbiditimeter can be used to predict the number of phytoplankton indirectly.Keywords : Quick assesment, ecotoxicology, Spirulina sp, turbidimetry, revolution, industry 4.0

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengenai struktur komunitas gastropoda yang telah dilakukan di Perairan Tanjung Siambang Kelurahan Dompak Kota Tanjungpinang Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas gastropoda di Perairan Tanjung Siambang Kelurahan Dompak Kota Tanjungpinang Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey, penentuan stasiun dengan metode purposive sampling, sebanyak 3 stasiun pengamatan dengan 5 kali ulangan menggunakan plot berukuran 2 x 2 meter. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 18 jenis gastropoda dari 5 subfamili yaitu Cerithiinae, Cerithioidae, Muricinae, Neritinae dan Nassariinae. Nilai kelimpahan jenis gastropoda tertinggi pada stasiun I yaitu 63,06 ind/m², terendah pada stasiun II yaitu 43,92 ind/m². Untuk indeks ekologi pada stasiun I keanekaragaman rendah, keseragaman sedang dan dominansi sedang, sedangkan indeks ekologi pada stasiun II dan III keanekaragaman rendah, keseragaman rendah dan dominansi tinggi.

Abstract

Perairan Teluk Sebong memiliki potensi sumberdaya terumbu karang dan merupakan tujuan wisata bahari. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis lifeform karang, indeks keanekaragaman lifeform karang dan kondisi tutupan karang hidup di Perairan Teluk Sebong Kabupaten Bintan. Pengambilan data dilakukan di 5 lokasi titik pengamatan yang berada di Perairan Teluk Sebong Kabupaten Bintan. Pengambilan data di lapangan meliputi kondisi terumbu karang menggunakan metode Underwater Photo Transect (UPT). Data karang yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan software CPCe versi 4.0. (Coral Point Count with Excel extension) dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui persentase tutupan bentik dan indeks keanekaragaman bentuk pertumbuhan karang. Hasil penelitian menujukkan lifeform karang di Perairan Berakit terdiri dari CF, ACT, CE, CM, CMR, CB, ACB, CS, dan ACD, Perairan Pengudang terdiri dari CM, CE, CF, CS, ACT, ACB, ACD, CB dan CMR, Perairan Lagoi Bay terdiri dari ACT, ACB, CE, ACE, CM, CF, CS, ACD dan CB, Perairan Banyan Tree terdiri dari ACT, ACB, CM, CE, CF, CS, CB dan ACD dan Perairan Pulau Rawa terdiri dari CM, CS, CE, CF, CMR, ACB, CHL dan ACT. Indeks keanekaragaman lifeform karang di Perairan Teluk Sebong berkisar antara 0,75 – 1,00. Kondisi tutupan karang hidup berkisar antara 30,87±3,08% - 45,40±3,77%, dengan kategori tutupan sedang.

Abstract

Green mussels (Perna viridis) are sentinel organisms that are often used in research and biomonitoring of metals. The current research aims to study the correlation between the condition index (IK) of green shells and Cadmium Metal/Shell Index. Mussels collected from Mandalle waters were 200. The length of the mussels collected was between 2.16-8.02 mm. Analysis of cadmium content in mussel tissue using Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometry (AAS). There are 10 IK formulas used in this study. One-way Pearson test was used as correlation analysis between IK and Metal/Shell Index . The results showed that IK1, IK3, IK6 correlate moderately and significantly with Metal/Shell Index. IK2 and IK9 correlate strongly and significantly with Metal/Shell Index. Other condition indices do not correlate with Metal/Shell Index statistically. These results indicate that IK2 and IK9 are IK that are sensitive to cadmium content so that they are potentially used as biomarkers. Keywords: Condition index, cadmium, simple biomarker, green mussel, Metal/Shell Index

Abstract

Microplastic has become a pollution problem that has received serious attention from people to scientists. There are several microplastic analysis methods in mussel tissue. This study examines two analytical methods, namely non-filtration and filtration methods. 99 samples of green mussels, Perna viridis, were collected by hand from the waters of Lae-Lae Island in Makassar. For the purposes of the study, green mussels are grouped in various ranges of shell lengths that are 4-5.9 cm (small); 6-7.9 cm (medium) and 8-10 cm (large).  T-student test was used to determine the difference in the average concentration of microplastic in the mussel with two different techniques used.  The ANOVA parametric test was used to calculate the difference in the average microplastic concentration between different lengths of shell lengths. The results showed that the concentration of microplastics found in the tissue of the green mussel is in the form of fiber. From the results of statistical analysis it was found that microplastic analysis techniques with filtration were able to obtain more microplastic concentrations compared to non-filtration techniques. The results of this study also showed that the longer the size of the shell the less the concentration of microplastic shells. Therefore it was concluded that the larger the size of the green mussel the less the concentration of microplastic in the tissue.

Abstract

Mackerel scad (Decapterus sp) is one type of pelagic fish whose sustainability is threatened. This study aims to determine the peak abundance of mackerel scad per week from May to July, production from 2007 to 2015, sustainable potential, optimum effort, TAC and utilization rate of mackerel scad. This research is expected to be considered in the management of mackerel scad. This research was conducted in May - July 2018. The research location was in the TPI Paotere office in Makassar. The method used in this research is survey and observation methods. Data collected in the form of primary data using observation and interviews as well as secondary data in the form of periodic data on catches and catch attempts from 2007-2015. To estimate the maximum sustainable yield of fisheries resources and optimal fishing efforts used in the Schaefer model, the data obtained will be analyzed to estimate and graph fishing efforts, and the level of mackerel scad resources in Makassar waters. MSY of mackerel scad obtained was 10,414.92 tons with optimal effort (fMSY) of 38,207.05 trips and permitted catches (TAC) of 8,331.94 tons. Abstract

Dunia ilmu pengetahuan saat ini sudah semakin maju dan berkembang, Hal ini didukung oleh berbagai hal termasuk semakin berkembangnya teknologi. Perkembangan teknologi memungkinkan dilakukannya penelitian-penelitian hingga di tingkat molekuler. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk melihat pentingnya pendekatan molekuler dalam mendukung pengelolaan sumberdaya hayati perairan. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara kepulauan yang memiliki kekayaan hayati yang berlimpah. Karena itu dirasakan sangat perlu untuk melakukan berbagai cara untuk mengelolanya. Salah satu pendekatan yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengelola sumber daya hayati perairan, adalah pendekatan molekuler. Melalui metode ini dapat dilakukan identifikasi jenis, mengetahui kekerabatan dan keragaman genetik organisme. Hal lain yang dapat didapatkan ialah informasi terkait perubahan susunan genetik akibat penyakit serta upaya-upaya penanganan terhadap penyakit tersebut. Informasi-informasi yang didapatkan melalui pendekatan molekuler ini sangat penting untuk dikelola secara dengan baik, sehingga dapat menjadi suatu dasar atau acuan dalam pengelolaan sumber daya hayati perairan.

Abstract

Bada fish is one of the high economic value fish resources that live in Lake Maninjau. Overfishing of bada fish by fishermen without paying attention to aspects of fish biology can lead to population decline. This study aims to analyze the form of bada fish management by looking at its biological aspects. This research was conducted at the Limnology Research Center of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Cibinong, Bogor in May-December 2019. Bada fish samples were collected from Lake Maninjau using fishing gear nets, lukah and chart. For the purposes of the analysis, the length and weight of the bada fish were measured and the level of maturity of the gonads. In this study, the t-test (partial) was carried out as an analysis of the parameters of the relationship between length and weight of fish. The results of this study indicate the growth of bada fish in Lake Maninjau based on the results of measurements of length and weight, namely length 21 mm - 124 mm with a weight of 0.01 gr - 13.85 g. The equation of the long relationship weight of female bada fish W = 3.1247L5,4128 , male bada fish W = 3.1296L5,4283 and combined W = 3.163L5,4899. The male dan female bada fish growth pattern is a positive allometric growth pattern. The value of the condition factor was obtained in female and male bada fish, namely 1.3086 and 1.0176. The highest results of bada fishing TKG III and IV were obtained in November. Therefore, it is concluded that the form of management can be carried out by limiting the size of the mesh, prohibiting the operation of non-selective fishing gear, modifying fishing gear, and regulating the catching season.
