Abstract

The 3T region (terdepan, tertinggal, terluar or frontier, least developed, outermost) in Indonesia is an area that is prone to non-military threats, especially ideological threats that can affect national defense. Various efforts have been made by the government but the level of success achieved is still minimal. In this case, the state needs to seriously develop steps to socialize the attitude of nationalism, especially to people in the 3T region. The purpose of this study was to explore the appropriate socialization strategy used in inculcating the attitude of nationalism in the 3T society regions. This study used qualitative methods with data collection through library research and analytical methods using descriptive analysis. The results of this study are expected to find the right socialization strategy that should be applied in the 3T region in the future. The success in efforts to socialize the planting of nationalism in the 3T region by the government depends on many factors, and the involvement of the central government and regional parties, as well as all levels of society, is an important aspect in determining the success of these efforts.

Abstract

Liberal political economists typically ascribe the reasons, natures, and dynamics of development and security in the global South, including Africa, Asia, and Latin America, to internal deficiencies. As a result, among other things, weak institutions, policy deficits, ethnicity, corruption, bad leadership, and all other signs of an entity in desperate need of salvation have been recognized as dangers to the corporate existence and survival of African and other developing countries. While the decolonization of African and other developing countries has provided impacted peoples a sense of political belonging, the historical processes required to promote these nations' economic potential have been weakened. As a result, the capacity of postcolonial states to chart their development paths and reinvent themselves has been malignly berated, denied, and frustrated by neo-colonialist aspirations, strategies, and actions, those who had grudgingly and dishonestly foisted cancerous independence on the entire continent of Africa and other Third World regions. Relying, as it should, given the qualitative nature of the study, the study assesses the implications of the neo-colonial legacies for Nigeria's development aspiration.

Abstract

The agricultural sector is the main element in the food supply, especially to achieve food security, climate change, damage to agricultural infrastructure, land conversion and declining agricultural production are threats in the agricultural sector that are currently occurring both globally and nationally can cause a food crisis. One of the government's efforts to maintain sustainable food availability is the food estate program involving the Ministry of  Defense. This study aims to identify the role of the Indonesian Ministry of  Defense in overcoming threats to the agricultural sector for the welfare and interests of national defense. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The data collection technique is to examine empirical information or data sourced from books, journals, scientific research reports, and other literature that has links to the national defense sector and the agricultural sector, as well as open library materials such as magazines, newspapers, and websites. From the perspective of non-military defense, it can be concluded that the role of defense institutions in overcoming non-military threats, in this case, the threat of a food crisis, is as a form of support capacity in securing national food availability, both production and distribution as well as supporting non-military defense functions in the context of realizing national logistics reserves. To support the implementation of a non-military defense system in agriculture that can maintain the safety of the nation from the threat of a food crisis, it is necessary to empower non-military defense so that it has strong deterrence in preventing all threats that arise.

Abstract

It can be said that issues about Papua that often come to the surface are always associated with the legal aspect of the entry of Papua into an inseparable part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). Groups that want Papua to be separated from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia not only seek support from countries such as Solomon Island or Vanuatu but also voice it to the United Nations forum. In this regard, a historical reflection is needed to provide an overview with an academic approach regarding the validity of Indonesia's claim to the territory of Papua as an inseparable part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. This study aims to determine international legal practices that are relevant to the legitimacy of West Irian being part of the territory of the Republic of Indonesia and Indonesia's diplomacy in international forums in defending Papua. This study uses a historical approach in the form of a systematic literature review through source collection and is interpreted to answer the focus of this research. The results showed that Indonesia's success in defending Papua after independence was influenced by mastery of the rules of international law, the spirit of struggle of Indonesian diplomats at that time, and international legal practices related to the right to be independent and free from colonialism

Abstract

The steel industry plays a pivotal role in driving the economy of a country because its production is used not only as raw material by many downstream industries, such as defense, machinery, and automotive industries, but also for infrastructure development, such as roads, bridges, and buildings. This study aims to analyze the role of the Indonesian steel industry in supporting the Indonesian defense industry and analyze the steel industry value chain, the competitiveness of domestic steel products against imported steel, and the relationship between the steel industry and the defense industry. This research used sequential mixed research methods, using raw data of manufacturing survey by Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Descriptive analysis, such as geometric growth rate, competitiveness analysis using the Trade Specialization Index (ISP), and analysis of the linkage between upstream and downstream steel industries using the 2010 Input-Output Table, employed in this research. The results showed that out of 16 million tons domestic demand for iron, more than half came from imports. Regarding the role of the steel industry in supporting the defense industry, it can be concluded that the contribution of domestic steel products is very small and has not been able to fully support the defense industry, because there are still many types of steel that must be imported to meet the needs for raw materials for the defense equipment. The 2010 Input-Output Table also shows that the value of domestic steel products used as raw material by the domestic weapons, ammunition, and metallurgy industries was only around IDR. 247.44 billion or only 0.14% of the total domestic use of steel.

Abstract

In general, issues related to the threat of transnationalism at the border have long been a hot topic among academics. This issue includes a real threat that threatens the nationalism of people living on the border. The purpose of this research is to prove transnationalism from the real life of the people who live on the border of the hamlet of Camar Bulan Temajuk. The use of ethnographic methods deepens the analysis of data in the field in the form of descriptive and objective data taken from 12 informants from different community groups. Field data collection begins with observations and interviews with community informants. The result The data describes various threats and obstacles that come from military threats at the border. However, non-military threats such as the circulation of foreign money, kinship ties, infrastructure, social inequalities, and overly free community interactions have made the psychology of society towards Indonesian nationalism lose and fade. Furthermore, transnationalism also disappears the people's national identity at the border, prides themselves on being Indonesian citizens, and more trust in other countries. This research provides contributions and thoughts related to the real threat of transnationalism to be reference material and evaluation for academics, government, and field practitioners.
