Abstract

TVC Djarum badminton scholarship 2018 advertisement is the only TVC PB Djarum that applies 2D animation, since TVC Djarum badminton scholarship has existed since 2007. This TVC’s 2018 was able to get the highest number of viewers on the official account of PB Djarum's Youtube platform. Thus, it was found the effect of animation on this TVC. Visually, the 2D animation in this TVC depicts children's characters and figures. This study aims to analyze how 2D animation in the form of illustrations of children playing badminton is applied to this TVC advertisement. Analysis of the application of this animation can examine the visualization of meaning, uniqueness, colors used, and the role of the illustration itself. The purpose of this study was to determine the character and meaning of the animation applied to the 2018 TVC Djarum Badminton Scholarship ad. literature review. This study found that TVC videos targeting the children's category would be better off using a 2D animation approach, using a cartoon style, and displaying color visuals that are impressively cheerful, enthusiastic, active, and courageous.

Abstract

Waroong Wars is a board game from Indonesia that can introduce Surabaya signature dishes to the people of Indonesia and abroad. The first printing was published in 2015. Waroong War underwent developments in 2018 resulting in a second printing edition which has a much different visual from the first printing edition. This study will analyze the visual style in the second edition of Waroong Wars which is heavily influenced by the realist style to assess the design. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with the analysis process using a design critique and is supported by boardgame theory and visual elements. Waroong Wars is an informative, persuasive, and creative board game. Unfortunately, there is no consistency of illustration style that is close to the local flavor. On the other hand, this second edition of Waroong Wars is an interesting strategy to introduce Surabaya's local culinary specialties through the board game and can be applied to other foods.

Abstract

Many people feel that changing the shape or stylizing the shape of the character of the past object cannot be done because it will be able to change the message that will be conveyed through the existing traditional form. Meanwhile, this form that has existed in the past becomes a form that can be considered boring for the next generation because the shape is considered complicated and not up to date.The character of Lek Jon, which was developed by Semarang Creative Content as an IP character, is expected to be a bridge between the shape of the Semarang mascot which is derived from the mythical beast Warak and the current millennial target. The various stylized forms that were carried out then made some people feel that there were too many things that were not the same between the two. In this study, we will try to see by comparing the shape and proportion between Warak Ngendhog and the character of Lek Jon. And in this study a conclusion was obtained that body proportions have a big enough role to convey a message about a shape to the target.

Abstract

Research on the Meaning Analysis of Jenga Block Game Illustration on WWF Poster aims to reveal the meaning or message to be conveyed from the illustration image. This research is a qualitative research. The research was conducted on the illustration of the Jenga block game on the WWF poster, data collection was carried out by observation, namely observing and analyzing the illustrations in the poster based on Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The results of this study indicate that the Jenga beam illustration on the WWF poster tells about the composition of the ecosystem and human actions that disturb its balance. The illustration of the Jenga block game on the WWF poster also illustrates the condition of a vulnerable ecosystem and aims to remind humans to maintain the integrity of the ecosystem.

Abstract

Color is present as a crucial component in its application to the branch of visual communication design as one of the elements forming a visual work. One of the visual works that in the process depends on using the coloring method is an animated film. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, an animated film released in 1998, was loved by audiences because it had a spooky feel that resulted from the application and color selection for each scene. But the reboot is Scooby-Doo! Return to Zombie Island drew negative responses from audiences. This triggered the phenomenon of the audience's comparison of the two films. There are changes and shifts in the atmosphere given to the reboot film. This research will discuss the application of colors that create a scary atmosphere in the animated film: Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island so that it is more popular than the reboot. As well as the role of color in communicating the meaning, message, and atmosphere that is formed for the audience.

Abstract

This research was made for us to know about how the usage of principles of layout in the infographic “Mengatasi Stres Selama Wabah Covid-19” are fit with the principles of layout stated by Surianto Rustan. The qualitative descriptive method was used in this research. The data needed was obtained by doing digital research on WHO’s official page, literature study, and sending out surveys for preliminary data. Analysist results said that the infographic “Mengatasi Stres Selama Wabah Covid-19” has fit with the principles of layout by Surianto Rustan which he stated, consisted by four forming points: Sequence, Emphasis, Balance, and Unity. The sequence in this infographic was descending, started right at the top of the page and ended at the bottom of it. Emphasis was shown by the title and the illustrations along with their circles. As in a whole, the balance was symmetrical and the unity of this infographic was shown by the usage of similar or same visual elements through out every page of the infographic.
