Abstract

The gills of nila fish which was exposed to the effluent of copper smelter and surfactant plants showed 100% hyperplasia. Whereas the effluent of paper plant caused 79,13% hyperplasia on lamella branchialis. The effluent concentration of copper smelter plant which gave significant influence of respiration rate was 40% volume with TDS, TSS, Fe, Zn, Cd, Pb, F concentrations of 1.590 mg/l, 27 mg/l, 0,39 mg/l, 0,116 mg/l, 0,12 mg/l, 0,048 mg/l and 0,044 mg/l respectively. Surfactant plant effluent that caused significant influence of respiration rate was 60% volume with BOD, COD, TSS, MBAS concentrations of 2,4 mg/l, 17,76 mg/l, 31,2 mg/l, and 0,6 mg/l respectively.

Abstract

Penetapan jalur alternatif sistem transportasi sampah diperlukan agar dapat mendukung sistem pengangkutan sampah ke Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Hasil pengolahan data yang diperoleh berdasarkan analisis hirarki (Analytical Hie-rarchy Process), terhadap masing-masing kriteria tersebut adalah sebagai berikut, yaitu : kriteria ekonomis (0,528), kri-teria teknis (0,333), dan kriteria fisik (0,140). Masing-masing hasil pembobotan dari ketiga kriteria tersebut diberi pem-bobotan prioritas terhadap subkriteria-subkriteria dari 2 zona wilayah yang merupakan jalur alternatif pengangkutan sampah ke lokasi TPA. Dari hasil pembobotan tersebut, diperoleh bobot prioritas terbesar pada zona I (Kecamatan Wo-lio) senilai 0,640.

Abstract

Chitosan can be obtained from chitin that gained from extraction process from shrimp waste in cold storage processes. This research was aimed to determine the capability of chitosan to reduce turbidity and organic coumpound that found in liquid wastewater on Monosodium Glutamat Industry, PT. Miwon Indonesia, in which the process consist of destilation process. The removal presentation to reduce organic coumpound was 61% and in turbidity was 61,8%. Flocculant particle had a short settling time (less than 1 hour).

Abstract

Experimental design with a magnetic strength of 0.55 Tesla, a flow rate of 1.84 ml/s, 6 paired of non parallel magnets, with pH less than 7 showed that the concentrations of BOD, NH3-N, COD and SS were decreased up to three times using the settling test compared to typical treatment. The percentage of SS removal was 85.40 compared to 29.92 with-out magnet, so as BOD was 41.54 compared to 17.54, COD was 43.43 compared to 25.26 and NH3-N was 60.99 com-pared to 27.15 without magnet. This study concluded that magnetic technology had the potential to be used to further increase the efficiency of domestic sewage treatment by increasing the removal of suspended particles.

Abstract

This research was done at turbidity level of of 160 NTU. The research was done with jar test by varying the number of blade (2, 4 and 6 blades), diameter of the padle (55%, 65% and 75% of tank diameter), rotation speed of 190 rpm, 200 rpm and 210 rpm and distance of the padle to the tank base of ½, ¾ and 1 times of paddle diameter. This research concluded that those four factors influenced mixing physical factor equal to 90%. The main factor which affected turbidity removal were the number of the blade (46,7%) followed by the diameter of the padle (26,1%), the speed of mixing rotation (17,4%) and the distance of padle to the tank base (9,8%). Optimum condition reached by the condition of mixing using combination of 6 blades with padle’s diameter 75% to tank width, speed rotation of 210 rpm and distance of padle to tank base of ½ of the paddle diameter.

Abstract

Surfaktan there are in detergent function as dirt fastener. Advanced oxidation combining between ray ultraviolet (UV) and peroxide Hydrogen (H2O2) can yield the radical Hydroxyl (OH•). This Research conducted in batch with the variation energy of lamp UV that is 15 watt, 30 watt and 36 watt, and variation of addition H2O2 equal to 10 mg/L, 15 mg/L, 20 mg/L. Result of this research indicate that when the the lamp energy increaser, the degradation of concentration surfaktan will be ever greater. And more dose of peroxide hydrogen (H2O2), degradation of concentration surfaktan also greater too. However process oxidize by using combination between UV and H2O2 more effective.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to evaluate how the change of land uses around Sidoarjo eastern ring road will be effected the occurence of flood in the area. The effect of back water, and the change of land elevation also reduced the capacity of the system, and cause overtopping to the area. The strategy that proposed was the law enforcement of the spatial law, identification of the drainage system, revitalisation capacity of the system and streghten the ability on planning, and supervising of the institution related to the drainage management.

Abstract

The effect of waste water containing Pb, variations to plant life spans, and variations of soil has been studied to examine the absorption rate of Pb in Cattail by using Michaelis-Menten equation. The plants and sediments removed each four days to examine the Pb content in root, rhizome, and leaf of plant. The experiment showed that the growth rate of 3 months old Cattail using soil and sand were decreased but on the contrary in absorption rate, with Vmax at 22,573 mg/kg/day and Km at 3,562 l/d. The life spans of plant, waste concentrations and soil has influenced the uptake rate of Pb in plant significantly.
