Abstract

The research aimed to: (1) determine the effect of parities on the precentage of estrous andconception of Bali cows after estrous synchronization with prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) injectiontwice; (2) determine the best parity of Bali cows after estrous synchronization with prostaglandinF2α (PGF2α) injection twice from the various parities of Bali cows. The research was held in November until February 2013, located in Sukoharjo II Village,Sukoharjo District, Pringsewu Regency. This research used Completely Randomized Design(CRD) with three treatments and four repetitions. The treatments were Bali heifers (P0); Bali cowswhich have calved once (P1); and Bali cows which have calved twice (P2). Hormone used for thesynchronization was Juramate® with doses of 500 μg/cow or 2 ml/cow intramuscularly. Data ofpercentage of estrous and conception was analyzed by using Chi-square on significant level of 5%.The result of the research showed that estrous percentages after prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α)injection twice of Bali Cows P0, P1, P2 were 100%. The conception percentage of Bali cows P0, P1,P2 in a row were 100%; 75%; 75%. Based on the advanced test of Chi-square, parity was notsignificantly different (P>0,05) on the percentage of estrous and conception of Bali cows after theprostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) injection twice.

Abstract

Egg production phase consists of two phases which first production phases and second productionphase. The first of production phase in turkeys began at the 6.5 to 7,0 months of hen age, the peakproduction phase mains 9-10 ages, while the second of production phase on the life is more than14 months of the hen age. Egg production in the first phase of production is higher than of eggproduction in the second phase production. This is caused by the ability of the reproductive organs in the first production phase better than thesecond phase. The research was carried out on 1 March-12April 2013 held at the Ranch turkeyPekon Sukoharjo Natural Partners I, Sukoharjo District, District Pringsewu. Eggs were usedduring the study were turkey eggs as much as 60 egge with an average weight of 68,83 g egg onegg production phase of the 7 months of age and 82.45 g in egg production phase at 14 monthsage. This study used 2 treatment design, namely the egg production phase 7 months of hen age(T1) and egg production phase 14 months of hen age (T2), each treatment consisted of 10experimental units and each unit consists of experiments 3 eggs. Data were analyzed usingStudent's t-test with a significance level of 5%. Treatment of egg production of the first and secondphase of the turkey parent age 7 months and 14 months did not affect significant (P> 0.05) onfertility, hatchability turkey, and hatchability, whereas the hatching weight significantly (P <0.05)the turkey egg.

Abstract

The main problem in developing of ruminant production in Indonesia is the difficulty in fulfillingthe availability of feed continually, either the quality or the quantity. The abundant pineappleleaves are potensial to be feed stuff. However, the crude fiber content of pineapple leaves is high. Therefore, the pineapple leaves will be fermented by day treatment to reduce the high crude fibercontent. The aimed of the study to determine the effect of the best fermentation duration and todetermine the effect of Trametes sp. on dry metter, ash content, and crude fiber content ofpineapple leaves of Smooth cayene variety. This study was done in the Laboratory of Animal Feed, Department of Animal Husbandry, Facultyof Agriculture, University of Lampung. The treatments were arranged by using CompletelyRandomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatment consisted ofstorage during 0 day, 2 days, 4 days, 6 days. The dates of observation was analyzed by usingvariance analysis with significant level of 5% and or 1%. The polynomial orthogonal was usedafter the variance analysis showed the significant result. The result of this study showed that the treatment of storage duration of 0 day, 2 days, 4 days, 6days were significantly different (P<0,01) on dry matter content, ash content, and crude fibercontent. The duration of Trametes sp. Fermentation was significantly different to the content ofdry matter, crude fiber, ash. Longer duration of fermentation, more decrease the content of drymatter, crude fiber, and ash. According to the regresion equality of dry matter Y=12,11-0,61x(R2=0,84, r=0,92), crude fiber content Y=26,08-1,81x (R2=0,69, r=0,83), and ash content Y=7,39-0,47x (R2=0,73, r=0,85).

Abstract

Turkey meat has a high protein and low fat when compared with some other animal meat.Breeding companies commonly use hen age variation to maintain the availability of seed, hen agevariations lead to differences in performance hatching (fertility, weight loss, hatchability, andhatching weight). This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of hen age on fertility, weight loss, hatchability, and hatching weight of turkeys egg, (2) determine the best hen age of the on fertility, weight loss, hatchability, and hatching weight of turkeys egg. Research was conducted on March1 to April 12, 2013, held at the Mitra Alam Ranch Turkeys Partners Sukoharjo 1, DistrictSukoharjo, Pringsewu District. Eggs used are turkey eggs as much as 72 points. This research usedCompletely Randomized Design (CRD), with three treatments, namely P1 (egg from 9 months ofhen age), P2 (egg from11 months of hen age), and P3 (egg from 13 months of hen age). Thetreatment was repeated 6 times, and each experiment each unit consists of 4 eggs. Results of thisstudy showed that hen age was not a real is different (P> 0.05) on fertility, weight loss, andhatchability. However, the hen age showed significant differences (P <0.05) on hatching weight, and 13 month of hen age treatment gives the best effect on hatching weight.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of concentrate and amonium zeolite supplementation inration to the body weight gain of Boerawa goats. Fifteen Boerawa goats of 6—7 months old, withaverage initial body weight of 15,11 ± 4,44 kg/goat, were used in this experiment. This study usedRandomized Block Design with 3 treatments. The treatments were R0: ration of farmers, R1:ration of farmers 30% + concentrate 70%, and R2: R1 + amoniated zeolite 5% of ration dry matterof R1 with five replications. The water during this experiment was given ad libitum. The result ofthis study showed that the treatments of addition of concentrate without zeolite amoniated (R1)and addition of concentrate and zeolite amoniated R2 increased the body weight gain (P<0,05)compared with the treatments only addition of silage of cassava trunk and leaves (R0). However, the treatment of R2 showed the same result with R1 on the value of the body weight gain (P>0,05)of Boerawa goats. Besides, on the treatment R1 and R2 decreased the consumption of rude proteincompared with only R0 (P<0,01). However, on the treatment of R2 and R1 could increase theratio of protein efficiency which caused the increase of body weight heavier compared with R0 ofBoerawa goats (P<0,01).
