Abstract

The Chinese people play a great role in the World economy, especially in Indonesia, both in the past and at present. From the sixteenth century to the eighteenth century, as the revival period of Muslim trade signed by the growth of the emporiums in several Islamic kingdom areas, Chinese traders gave a large contribution to the economic development, especially in the Banten Sultanate at the time. The great work ethos of Chinese has caused them, successful in dominating business in many countries. The existence of Chinese people in Banten in the past was much different from that of European people who came into Banten to colonize and to arise the economic and political tensions in the Banten sultanate. In the Sultanate period, the Chinese people played a significant role not only in the trading sector of Banten, but also in its monetary sector so that they had a great influence to the socio-economic changes in Banten. The Chinese traders in Banten was considered by Dutch as a serious threat for Dutch trade in Banten. However, the Chinese skill and their social status in the community were frequently made use of by Dutch people for their own trade interest.

Abstract

School based management is the main issues in the educational quality improvement of both elementary and secondary education institutions in the world in the last three decades. It is the alternative school management believed to be potentially able to elevate the education quality. In Indonesia, it was introduced as early as the end of 1999 following the enactment of the decentralization policy. School based management, which is seen as a panacea of Indonesian education problems especially from primary up to senior secondary schools, when the 2003 Education Law No 20 was introduced, Indonesia formally adopted a policy of "school-based management" for the quality improvement of its 227.298 public and private schools, and madrasahs (Islamic schools), 47.813.166 students and 3.218.7 54 teachers. SBM in Indonesia is focused on the four aspects of basic education: quality, equality, relevance and efficiency. While international research has not yet proved conclusively that schoolbased management improves student outcomes, but in Indonesia, the experience has been to a certain degree more positive.

Abstract

The philosophy of man, according to Ali Shariati, covers several ideas. He explains the philosophy of man by stating that the verses of the Qur'an much more use the symbolic language. The symbols stated in the Qur'an are then interpreted by Ali Shariati to express his concept on the philosophy of man.The history of the creation of Adam telling that Adam is able to mention the names of several objects around him is a symbol of the intellectual ability of man. Performing the angels bow because of Adam's intellectual capability shows us the appreciation of Islam to humanism. The statement of the Qur'an that human spirit is created from a part of God's spirit is interpreted that human is endowed power (at a certain levels) by God in which it is, as a matter of fact, a manifestation of the attributes of Allah. Due to his intellectual capability and his power, man is, then, appointed to be His khalifah in the World.Ali Shariati states that human is two-dimensional beings. This conclusion constitutes an interpretation of several verses of the Qur'an stating that man is made of loam ( as a symbol of lowness) and a part of God's spirit (as a symbol of holiness). In order not to be fell into one of the extreme poles, man needs religion, God, holy book and prophet that have two-dimensional aspects, the mundane and the beyond. The only religion that has both of these aspects is Islam.

Abstract

Reduplication is playful in certain languages while informative in others. The recent emergence of the form together-gather, single-mingle, calling-calling and laterlater brings forth the need to examine where and how the form emerged. The social contact Malaysians achieve is a vocabulary enriching mechanism just as how English has some 900,000 words. Also the catchy-ness of reduplicated words, for businesses' branding holds a key to an economically successful country. Also, this paper studies the feasibility of reduplicating rules, in particular of the English language and Bahasa.

Abstract

This article explores the phenomenon of hadith that has become traditions of Muslim society. This study is also called “living hadith” defined as the religious phenomenon such as modes of conduct based on or responses to interpretation of hadith texts. By using the methods of obsevation, interview, and documents and the integrated-interconnected scientific approach, the research found that the phenomena of living hadith at Pondok Pesantren AI-Munawwir and Ali Maksum Krapyak could be classified into three traditions: oral tradition, written tradition, and practical tradition. Besides religious motivations, factors that formed these three traditions are also caused by cultural acculturation between local (Javanese) Culture and Islamic doctrine and differences of the interpretation methods on hadith texts among Muslim community.
