Abstract

The influence of one’s leadership is influenced by charisma and a lifelong struggle to be a leader. Leaders who have a good profile will always be an encouragement and inspiration for change, even after the leader has long died. To achieve this, a leader must be able to realize the vision in the reality of life. The purpose of this study is to explain the reflection of Gus Dur’s thoughts and movements in the view of Cirebon figures. The method used in this research is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. A literature review of various relevant sources, such as books, journals, and other scientific articles, is used to collect data. The results showed that K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid, commonly known as Gus Dur, produced many ideas and thoughts with the movements he made. These ideas and thoughts are not only for the benefit of a group; they are for the benefit of humanity, especially the Indonesian nation. Many of Gus Dur’s ideas and thoughts, especially regarding humanity, were produced, including the indigenous Islam, pluralism, and defending minorities. Some of the ideas and thoughts produced by Gus Dur were reflected in a movement. As a result, the Indonesian people, including Cirebon figures, can continue to reflect their ideas and thoughts in the form of movements in their daily lives.

Abstract

‘Iconoclasm’, which may simply be defined as the destruction of artworks as a result of hatred towards them is a common phenomenon in all the three major Abrahamic desert religions; Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Because Islam frowns at representational art, especially sculptures in the round, many Muslim artists pursue and develop their creativity in the elegant Arabic calligraphic embellishments used to adorn the walls of mosques, palaces and the covers of Islamic books. However, despite the growing nature of iconoclasm amongst mainstream Muslims, the Sufis see no harm in visually and artistically representing their saints and hermits as a way to honour them and seek their barakah (blessings). It is on this basis that this paper examines selected sacred Sufi paintings of Kano, Nigeria. Relying heavily on oral interviews and written sources this paper traces the historical development of sacred Sufi paintings in Kano, Nigeria, focusing largely on the art historical appreciation and contextualization of such paintings. The paper also found out that despite the importance of sacred Sufi paintings in the reconstruction of history, they receive little or no scholarly attention.

Abstract

This research discusses the meaning of social education and its value in forming social character from the perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith. The assessment was done through a literature review, taking references from commentaries, books, journals, and related articles, accessed online via the Internet network. There are many values of social character education taught in the Qur'an and Hadith, such as brotherhood, mutual help, caring, forgiveness, tolerance, mutual giving, not being individualistic, and giving each other space to others. Many more social and community education values are presented in the Al-Qur'an and Hadith, which can be used to form social character. Due to limitations, several examples of social and social education values are taken, as informed in the Al-Qur'an and Hadith.

Abstract

Dialectics focuses on understanding the context of the al-Qur'an and is integrated as a method of dialogue between the original text and the translation. By developing a new framework that combines al-Qur’an dialectics and religious values through textual analysis and literature review. This study provides a critical review of translation theory, investigating the relationship between language and religious meaning in the al-Qur'an text. The combination of dialectical aspects and al-Qur'an perspectives is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of theories on the translation of religious texts, especially in the Islamic context. The practical implications include the development of more contextualized and detailed translation guidelines as well as a more comprehensive understanding of the religious meaning embedded in the al-Qur'an text. The methodology used is library research using a descriptive qualitative approach and book research involving textual analysis of religious texts in the al-Qur'an, followed by a literature review of existing translation theories. The results of this analysis form the basis for the development of a dialectical model in the translation of religious texts, in which cultural, historical and linguistic contexts become key considerations. By utilizing the al-Qur'an perspective, this research directs the translation of religious texts towards a deeper and more contextual understanding.
