Abstract

There are three methods of interpretation used by commentators to interpret the Quranic verses, by riwayah, knownas tafs bi al-mats, by logic known as tafs bi al-rayi and by al-isyi. From three methods of interpretation, according to Ibn Taymiyyah, tafs bi al-mats is the best method and valid. It is based on the belief that knows themeaning of the verse is Allah, the Prophet, and his companions. In fact, the commentary by al-mats, not the wholeverse is interpreted by the Prophet, or friends but the majority carried out by commentators with ijtihadnya in placingthe Quran, Hadith and friends opinion when interpreting a verse. Thus, differences in interpretation among commentatorsbi al-mats can not be avoided. In case of Abrahams son who was sacrificed, for example, between al-Thabari, Ibn Kats and Ibn Athiyyah had different opinions and attitudes of understanding of the verses. Whiletheir interpretation is called tafs bi al-mats. Their different opinions indicate that al-tafs bi al-mats also needa review of the validity, especially related to commentators thought in placing the explanation of Quran itself,Hadith and opinion in interpreting the Quranic verses.

Abstract

This article is aimed to describe psychological approaches in the study of religions. Psychology provides many perspectives, such as Feudian psychoanalysis, eventhough it considered religion as pathology, also provided semantic tool to understand inner religious experiences. Another side of psychoanalysis functioned to study the development of children?s religious experiences. Psychology also can be applied to study spiritual awakening, or more precisely, conversion from non-religious into religious experience, or from situation to other one. Trans-personal psychology is more concerned with therapeutic practices, but in the view of Dan Merkur, this kind of psychology should be called as ?theology? rather than psychology in true sense of the word.

Abstract

This paper intends to address the emerging of Shiite genealogy in the history of Islamic thought. There are somequestion that needs to be asked: What is the Shiite? Furthermore, what is the background of the rise of the Shiite? As for the writer, Shiite is a group of Muslims who believe that the successor (khalifa) on leadership (Imamate) bothin the field of religion and politics after the Prophets death was Ali bin Abi Talib, cousin of Prophet Muhammadand his descendants were called Ahli bayt. There are several theories about the background of Shiite. Some said it iscaused by the privilege of Ali in comparating with the other prophets companion. Some said it is caused by theinfluence of non islamic cultural and religious teachings such as Persian and Jews. Some said it is caused by thepolitical conflicts in the Islamic community after the death of the Prophet. For the Shiites themselves believe that thequestion of replacement of the Prophet, that Ali bin Abi Talib, has got the legitimacy of both the Quran andHadith.

This paper described about psychology which had been discussing in the traditions ofIslamic thought. Either in religious perpective, Sufis or philosophys, the psychology inthe traditions of Islamic thought was basically different from the psychology in thetradition of western-secular thought. However the last psychology was reduced as astudy of mind and behavior or mental processes, the other has been a study of soul asimmaterial substansions, it was neither of body nor part of body, it would be existwhenever the body had been died and each may be repaid what it had earned.

Abstract

In general, most of Qur?anic interpretations (Kitab-kitab Tafsir, red-) have a systematic of Qur?anic order in Mushaf, started from Surah al-Fâtihah and ended at Surah al-Nâs. Unlike those, Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri, is commonly known as al-Jabiri, contemporary Islamic thinker from Marroco, wrote a Qur?anic interpretation based on chronological order of Surahs, Fahm al-Qur?ân al-Hâkim. It is started from Surah al-Alaq: 1-5 and ended at Surah al-Nashr. Al-Jabiri offered new methodology to understand Qur?anic text which he called as al-fashl to answer problems of objectivity and al-washl to answer problems of rasionality. He based his interpretation on Qirâ?ah Muâshirah (contemporary reading) so Qur?anic text will be contemporary for itself and contemporary for its readers in contemporary context. This article describes briefly about al-Jabiri?s works, Fahm al-Qur?ân al-Hâkim, his thoughts in Qur?anic issues and his offered interpretation methodology.

Abstract

Immanuel Kant is a philosopher who successfully defines ethicsin terms of moral imperatives, not in terms of efforts to attain happiness. He also proposes a rational metaphysics as opposed to the speculativemetaphysics. In the context of rational metaphysics, Kant leads his moralphilosophy to religion, even though the latter is not directly put as thefoundation of the former.

Abstract

One step of the verification of the validity of the hadith is to test the aspect of illahwhether in sanad, content or the combination of both. Illah is understood as a form ofhidden defects in the hadith. It distinguishes between muallal hadith and other weakhadith. The hadith scholars acknowledge that the research of Illah aspect is one of themost difficult to test the validity of the hadith. To determine the complexity of illahstudies, it is needed to review of the content and the chain of transmission of hadithwhich contained an illah by the hadith scholars. The result proved that the proof ofillah of a hadith was not easy. Hadith is born valid but apparently assessed withillah.

Abstract

AbstractIslamic philosophy and the science of kalam have the similar discussion about God. However, if Islamic philosophy, namely Ibn Sina’s thoughts really put the ratio first whereas the science of kalam also enclose the naqli argument. The discussion about whether God can be seen or not in the science of kalam has dissent, especially Mu’tazilah and Asy’ariyah. Indeed, currently humans can’t see God, but we can prove the existence of God through his creation, which is in the from of this universe. Ibnu Sina through his theory of emanation said that the universe was created from the emanation of the One and then gave birth to thr first reason to the tenth reason. In this modern times, it is easier to see evidence of God’s existence as technology develops.
