Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of modernization that occurred in Banjarmasin port to the existence of the people shipping and how they face the challenge of modernization. The development of Trisakti port has caused a setback to the people shipping because they have to deal with the modern technology that is not likely owned by the fleet. In that case, the rational choice that they can take is adaptation and relocation. Keywords: people shipping, traditional and modern technology, adaptation, relocation.

Abstract

The main aim of this article is to trace the role of Indonesian Navy for securing the ocean borders of the Integrated State ofthe Republic of Indonesia during the course of Indonesia history since its independence in 1945. For Indonesia, the issue of ocean borders is very interesting to be discussed consedering the fact that most of part ( 80 percent) the Indonesian territory comprises of ocean waters. It stretches across the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, from South-eastern Asia to Northern Australia. It is not suprising that Indonesia has a complicated ocean borders with its neighbors. In this respect, the role of Indonesian Navy to secure the ocean borders in the Indonesia history cannot be neglected. Abstract

This article entitled Structural Studies of Community’s Salt Trade System studied the problems of how is the portrait of community’s salt trade system and the structural’s core problem which is created the chaotic trade system of community’s salt recently. The result shows that salt trade system tended to be out of the governments controll, so that it is thoroughly depended on the trade mechanism. Therefore, it become dominated and controlled commodity by capital owners in every level both locally and supra-locally and showed a hegemonic and monopolistic pattern. The capital owners got the maximum profit from salt commodity. In such condition, the salt farmer as the producer of salt raw materials had a very limited access and equity to the trade system. Ironically, government as the authoritical policy tended to preserve the trade structure. It was proven by the absence of decisive action and sanctions for trader that sent-up the salt’s price. Abstract

The fisherman’s institutional has strategic dimension both for empowering fisherman community to do sustainable development of marine resources and to increase their independence and welfare. This institution has normative positions to serve as guidelines to be and behave in social relations and interaction in line with the socio-cultural and ecological environment. While the function of this institution is being regulativerules related to household subsistence, integration, and social control. With these functions, they may determine their manners, capacities, and their autonomy to fulfill life’s necessities, standard of living and culture. So this is also can be called "hidden insurance" and "social energy" to survive their problems of life and society. The strategic role has to be empowered, integrated and synergized, both at the level of individual, organizational, through regulation of human resources, business opportunities, improvement of governance, ecology, and marine resources.Abstract: institution, empowered, marine resources, sustainable development.

Abstract

By using historical method with political history approach, this research concerns on the dynamics of marine and fisheries policies in Rembang Regency as a response and consequence of reformation and regional autonomy. As coastal areas, Rembang responds all the authority delegation with the enactment of regional autonomy through implementation of marine and fisheries policies sectors which has dynamics in line with democratization. The policy transition processes have shown chronologically a significant transformation in the direction of the maritime development paradigm in Rembang Regency despite of its viable evolutionary implementation. Abstract

This research discusses the kingdom of Badung in Bali resistance against the Dutch that lasted six days, starting from December 15 until September 20, 1906. That event was known as Puputan. The main cause of this opposition stemmed from Sri Komala stranded boat on the beach of Sanur. The Dutch considered the king of Badung should responsibile towards this event. So this research entitle "From Boat Sri Komala until Puputan: Kingdom of Badung, Bali Resistance against Dutch colonialism in 1906. This research has calculated using historical methods, including heuristics, criticism, synthesis and historiography. Researcher also used a theory of Collective Behavior by Neil J. Smelser to analyzed research problems. It founds that the resistance was motivated by political ambition and intervention of the Dutch to colonized the whole of Bali areas. The Badung kingdom argued that it was better to combat than bear their shame. This decision has logical consequences of the King in emergence of a critical attitude by addressing the situation of the kingdom at that time. Meanwhile, the Dutch blockade access of the Badung kingdom that would not lose money to pay compensation Sri Komala boat owners.The uniqueness of this resistance there were critical attitudes and methods clashed as a final option in their war. In Puputan both the king of Badung and the Dutch were equally experienced defeat. Keyword: Puputan, Sri Komala boat, resistence

Abstract

This research analyzes salt production in Madura which has more intensified after the modern management carried out by the Dutch colonial in the beginning of 20th century. It has calculated by using historical methods, including heuristics, criticism, synthesis and historiography. It was also in line with increasing of salt transportation activities. The salt transportation was originally established by KPM, MSM and OJZ. However, after they were conducted a tender, Madurese sailing boat activities was increase. In the end, this situation created rivalries among them. It was also caused their eceonomy, housing, and mobilization among Madurese both inside and outside of the island. In addition, salt transportation activities affected the development of Madura’s trade network transportation. Keywords: rivalries, transportation, Madura’s salt
