Abstract

Bone is one of the wastes result in environmental pollution and public health issues if it is thrown directly into the environment. The aim of this research was to study the characteristics of activated charcoal of activated sulfuric acid goat bone. The process of making activated charcoal of goat bone included two stages of process, herein consisted of first carbonization process of goat bone at temperature of 700  C for 20 minutes to produce goat bone charcoal. The second process is chemical activation by using sulfuric acid activator at various concentrations of 1N, 2N and 3N for24 hours. The results showed that the best activated charcoal characteristic of sulfuric acid was at 3N sulfuric acid concentration, 0.289% moisture content, ash content of 6.4%, absorption capacity of Iod 983 mg / g, volatile matter 15,017, fixed carbon 82.013 and spectra FTIR of activated carbon showed spectra of absorption band at wave number 3546,143 – 3604,135 cm-1 on vibration of group -OH, with intensity 76%. Overall, the results revealed that the quality of activated charcoal of goat bone isstill eligible of the values recommended by SNI-06-4253-1996 about the quality of activated charcoal.

Abstract

The problem of urban slums was often one of the main issues that is quite polemic, thus never overtaken by the handling efforts from time to time. Particularly, the impact of slum settlements will also lead to a bad paradigm for the administration of the government. The Problem of Slum Settlement was also experienced by the Batubara District, especially in Kelurahan Tanjung Tiram, TanjungTiram Sub-district. The aim of this research is to identify the physical condition of slumsettlement, analyze the slum level of settlement and analyze the planning of handling. This research was a descriptive study of qualitative analysis in which researcher describes the phenomenon, which exists by analyzing and presenting the facts systematically to facilitate understanding and drawing conclusions. Based on the result of the research, it is concluded that the physical condition of slum settlement need improvement and rearrangement, the result of analysis for slum level of settlement in Tanjung Tiram sub-district is medium slum, and the result of analysis for handling planning is model of village improvement program (KIP).

Abstract

Bioarang is charcoal (one type of fuel) made from various kinds of biological materials, for example wood, twigs, leaves, grass that can be carbonized. biobriquette is an alternative energy  substitute for fuel produced from organic materials or agricultural waste (biomass) that is underutilized, especially durian shell waste. This study aims to look at the comparison of the quality characteristics of the durian shell biobriquette with the type of charcoal based on the percentage of volatile matter.  The making of this biobriquette uses 1: 2 pati janeng from the biobriquette weight, the biobriquette particle size is 80 mesh, the cylindrical biobriquette form. The results showed that the biobriquette produced had met the fuel quality standards for households. Level biobriquette of durian shell volatile matter is obtained 6%, and for the type of volatile matter charcoal is 5%. Based on the quality standard for volatile matter is a maximum of 15%. Volatile matter test for biobriquette durian shell obtained can be used as an environmentally friendly fuel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketersediaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH)yang ada di Kota Serang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa luas RTH Kota Serang masih belum  mencukupi ketentuan Undang-Undang. Total luas RTH pada tahun 2016 adalah sebesar 7361,7  Haatau sekitar 27,6% luas wilayah Pemerintahan Kota Serang sebesar 2.518,9 Ha dipenuhi oleh RTH publik sedangkan sisanya, 4.842,2 Ha, diisi oleh RTH privat. Hanya RTH di dua kecamatan yang memenuhi Permendagri Nomor 1 Tahun 2007 dan Permen PU Nomor 05/PRT/M/2008 yakni kecamatan Kasemen dan Cipocok Jaya. Kecamatan Serang masih kurang 63,22 ha RTH sedangkan Kecamatan Taktakan kurang 284,53 ha. Kecamatan Walantaka dan Kecamatan Curug juga masih kurang masingmasing sebesar 965,44 ha dan 1.192,74 ha. Ruang Terbuka Hijau paling luas di Kota Serang berada diKecamatan Kasemendengan total 3.333,594 Ha atau sekitar 45,28%  dari luas wilayah Kota Serang. Berdasarkan proyeksi, luas RTH yang harus tersedia di Kota Serang berdasar kan jumlah penduduk pada tahun 2016 adalah 1.311ha, 1.336 ha pada tahun 2017, 1.362 ha pada tahun 2018, 1.388 ha pada tahun2019 dan 1.415 ha pada tahun 2020.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to know the physical characteristics (water vapor transmission  rate, water absorption), mechanical characteristics of edible film (maturation, tensile strength), morphology(functional group) and the edible film thermal properties made of corn starch and keratin. In this research, keratin extraction method of chicken feather waste is continued to know the influence of keratin preparation as filler material. Keratin concentration was used for each variation with comparison to corn starch matrix with keratin ie 0%, 3%, 5%, 7% and 9%. In the research used type sorbitol plasticizer which is a sugar substitutecompound that is non toxin. The data obtained from the results of the study in the analysis to see the properties of feeding for food packaging with a low rate of water vapor transmission with a value of 0.00334 g / cm2 / day. From the testing of mechanical properties for tensile strength and elongation, the optimum percentage of keratin addition was 9% whose values were 25.02 MPa and 3.64% respectively. Thermal analysis and functional groups with the addition of keratin increase the melting temperature and decomposition temperature by mixing physically. From all tests, the best percentage of keratin addition was found on the 9% keratin composition.
