Abstract

Economic infrastructure development remains a strategic choice to accelerate economic growth and ensure equitable welfare. While those goals demand an ever-increasing budget, the infrastructure development budget allocation has been limited due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This research aims to analyze: (1) the impacts of Length of Roads, Number of Motor Vehicles, Electricity Distributed, and Percentage of Households with Internet Access on GRDP per Capita at Constant Prices and (2) the annual trend in infrastructure expenditure budget. GRDP per Capita at Constant Prices is used herein to measure welfare. This research employs Statistical Method, Pooled Data Regression Model, and Least Square Trend Method, and uses secondary data series throughout 2015-2019 from 10 provinces across Central and Eastern Indonesia. The results show that the Number of Motor Vehicles has a negative and significant impact on welfare improvement, while the Percentage of Households with Internet Access makes a positive and significant impact. The impacts of Length of Roads and Electricity Distributed, however, are not significant. The projected infrastructure expenditure budget in 2024 amounts to Rp453.5 trillion with an average annual increase of Rp18.6 trillion, much lower than the expenditure needs. In light of these findings, support from the government is needed to improve domestic connectivity, develop public transport in urban areas, and accelerate digital transformation while training available human resources. The government also needs to involve the public and encourage them to make an investment while collaborating with business entities to overcome the substantial financing gap. Keywords: Development, Economic Infrastructure, Welfare, Pooled-data

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the minimum wage at the district/city level (MWD) on the open unemployment rate (OUR) before and during the Covid-19 pandemic on Java Island. In addition, this study also wants to see the impacts of other variables, namely the Human Development Index (HDI), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) on the OUR.  This study applied a Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) to data of all districts/cities in Java Island in 2019 and 2020. The results showed that before the Covid-19 pandemic, the change in MWD had a significant effect on OUR in 44 districts/cities, but during the pandemic, it affected OUR in 64 districts/cities. The estimated parameter coefficient for MWD is higher during the pandemic. Areas whose MWD coefficient is higher than before the pandemic are South Tangerang, Tangerang City, Serang city, Serang district, all DIY areas, all districts/cities in Central Java, and some areas in East Java. This study also found that the impacts of HDI, GRDP, and LFPR on OUR vary spacially before and during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

During the 2017-2019 period, Central Java performed well in poverty alleviation. It turns out that the reduction of poverty in Central Java has a major contribution in reducing the poverty rate nationally, Indonesia. This poverty reduction could occur due to an increase in the regional aggregate government expenditure budget in Central Java. This study aimed to determine the effect of regional spending by function on poverty levels in districts/cities in Central Java using panel data regression. The model chosen is the Fixed Effect Model with the SUR approach. The results show that regional spending on health, education, and social protection negatively affects poverty levels. On the other hand, spending in the economic sector has a significant but positive impact on the poverty level. Meanwhile, spending on infrastructure does not show a significant effect on reducing poverty in Central Java. The government needs to maintain financial management in the health, education, and social assistance functions, as well as carry out further studies related to budget allocations in the economic and infrastructure sectors. Keywords: poverty, poverty reduction, government spending, fixed effect model

The contingent valuation method is used as an approach in this research. Primary data obtained from field research is used as the main data. The analysis of environmental services used is the willingness to pay technique of individuals for environmental services or resources. Natural resources in the Karst Gombong area of Jatijajar Village have characteristics in the form of direct use, the value of water resources for lowland rice farming and Water resources from underground rivers in the karst area is 15 springs. The total economic value of the potential use of existing resources in the Gombong Karst Gombong area of Jatijajar Village is IDR 87,616,789,519 in one year. Abstract

This research was conducted in Kajongan Village, Purbalingga Regency. This study aims to analyze the value added and contribution of the broom craft business to the household income of entrepreneurs in a period of one year. The types of brooms that were studied are gelagah brooms, ijuk brooms, and hamada (brooms made from wheat plants). Respondents in this study amounted to 34 broom entrepreneurs. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires and interviews. The analytical method used is the hayami method value added analysis and income contribution analysis. This study is a development from previous research that uses the Hayami method to analyze the value added from craft products. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the highest value added ratio is produced by the production of hamada brooms. Then the second highest is produced from the production of ijuk brooms. The production of gelagah brooms contributes the lowest value added and value added ratio. Meanwhile, the largest to the smallest income contribution was generated from the production of hamada brooms, gelagah brooms, and ijuk brooms, respectively. The implication is that entrepreneurs need to choose the best raw materials and provide innovations to improve product quality so that the value added can be increased. In addition, entrepreneurs need to expand the market so that the number of sales can be increased. In the end, this will have an impact on increasing the household income of entrepreneurs. Keywords: Value Added Craft, Broom Craft, Income Contribution
