Abstract

Distribution center location is a very important problem in practice. This paper proposes a generalized fuzzy TOPSIS approach to support for distribution center location selection process. In the proposed approach, the ratings of alternatives and importance weights of criteria for distribution center location selection are represented by generalized triangular fuzzy numbers. Then, the membership functions of the final fuzzy evaluation value in the proposed approach are developed based on the linguistic expressions. Finally, this study applies the proposed generalized fuzzy TOPSIS to a real case of distribution center location selection in a company demonstrating its advantages and applicability.

Abstract

In general, reusing automobile parts reduces not only the cost of replacing the failed parts but also the environmental load of manufacturing new parts. However, these effects have not yet been quantified. The present study focuses on determining the emitted CO2 during production and quantitatively evaluating its reduction by the reuse of automobile parts. First, CO2 emissions are calculated during the reused parts production process at the factory site. Thirty-nine automobiles from 27 models prepared in Japan are examined to measure the amount of CO2 emitted in the production of new parts. Furthermore, the CO2 emission reduction effect for different automobile models is estimated through multiple regression analysis. The CO2 emissions are assumed to be the objective variable, whereas the explanatory variables are derived from the data provided in the automobile inspection certificates. The presented quantitative estimate of CO2 emission reduction owing to the exploitation of reused parts is expected to promote policies for further reducing CO2 emissions and arouse public awareness regarding the benefits of recycling automobile parts.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to summarize Supply Chain Management (SCM) strategies which are getting affected by the agile parameters. Agile parameters are classified into Capabler, Driver, and Enabler may help an expert to take a decision in an agile environment for accepting changes. Agile development affects the working style of the modules in SCM. This paper shows business process agility defined by the number of the parameter affecting the working style of the SCM modules. The study includes a causal analysis of SCM modules based on the review of a number of research papers and books. SCM based case study of inventory management of swatches is studied with the strategy mapping in different modules based on agile parameters. Set of parameters is studied as per the case study of swatch inventory management in agile development. Mapping agile parameters at different strategies in the changing environment makes a system to understand the impact and future of the agile parameters at different levels of SCM modules. Finding the different type of agility and amount of agility in the SCM system can be an enhancement of this paper.

Abstract

Today, the control of the purchasing function becomes a strategic tool of any hospital. Hence, hospitals are invited to create immediate value from identification and mitigation of risks in the upstream supply chain management. Among the problems encountered in the management of this chain are the evaluation and the monitoring of the performance of suppliers. The classification of the best-performing suppliers must be based on the analysis of risks that a hospital encounters when dealing with a supplier. Most experiments measure the risk according to the combination of two parameters, gravity and probability. Although these two parameters are subjectively determined, this implies the uncertainty and the imprecision of the risk value. Therefore, this paper presents an alternative approach for tackling such a problem starting with proposing a new system of evaluating suppliers, whose results will help to calculate objectively the risk associated to suppliers. Our paper is composed of four parts. The first one presents the literature review, while the second and third parts deal with the problematic definition and the proposed solution respectively, which are illustrated and validated through a case study in the fourth part. Finally, we conclude the paper with work perspectives.

Abstract

Todays market competitiveness has reached its peak since the rapid growth of industrial and technology development. The market dominance aims to fulfill the consumer supply and demand, by giving excellent service, such as stabilizing the finished goods inventory level in the right time and quantity.XYZ is one of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Company which has several problems in supplying their product to market. Actual market condition and demand become the main factor why the company is unable fulfilling the right product to its consumer, despite the Production Planning and Inventory Control (PPIC) segment has made the right production target based on the Purchase Order and Selling Target from Distributors Company. Thus, further development by combining supply chain management system with several theory of constraints is required to manage the material inventory and finished goods, which meet the consumer needs such as integrated master production schedule, market demand condition, finished goods inventory, and material replenishment by suppliers.
