Abstract

This research aimed to improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text through mind mapping collaborative writing technique. The data were taken from students of A1 in English Study Program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang in the Academic Year 2017-2018. The finding showed that this technique could make the students enjoyed the writing activity and generated the students’ motivation to get involved in the writing process. The students were happy worked collaboratively with other student; moreover, the students could share their difficulties among the activity. Mind mapping collaborative writing could help the students to improve their writing descriptive texts and motivate the students to be active in the writing activity. Mind mapping collaborative writing is suggested to use in teaching writing at any level of the studentsand for any kind of texts. Keywords: Teaching Writing, Mind Mapping Collaborative Writing, Writing Descriptive Texts.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas III SDN 25 Rajang Begantung II. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif bentuk penelitian tindakan kelas. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu teknik observasi, pengukuran, komunikasi tidak langsung, dan teknik studi dokumen, alat pengumpul data berupa lembar observasi, soal tes, lembar angket dan dokumentasi. Hasil setelah dilakukan penelitian penggunaan teknik probing-prompting masuk kriteria Sangat Baik dengan skor rata-rata hasil lembar aktivitas guru siklus I 92,70%  dan siklus II 96,87%  terjadi peningkatan sebesar 4,17%. Rata-rata hasil lembar aktivitas siswa siklus I 81,25% siklus II 96,25% terjadi peningkatan sebesar 15%, hasil tes pemahaman konsep  siklus I rata-rata 74,74 persentase ketuntasan klasikal 72,72% siklus II 85,62 persentase ketuntasan klasikal 90,90%. mengalami peningkatan sebesar 18,18%. Rata-rata hasil belajar siswa siklus I  77,27 persentase ketuntasan klasikal 81,81% siklus II rata-rata 87,27 persentase ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 100% meningkat sebesar 12,73%.  Hasil angket respon siswa diperoleh 92,72% dengan kategori sangat kuat. Kata Kunci: Pemahaman konsep, hasil belajar, teknik probing-prompting, matematika

Abstract

The aims of th study are (1) to describe the plot arrangement of The Iron Lady and (2) to describe the type of plot in The Iron Lady.In this research, researcher was used descriptive and qualitative technique because this descriptive analysis was based on the data of the movie. The researcher collected the data by watching movie. The technique was conducted as a means to understand the intrinsic elements of the movie especially the plot arrangement and type of the plot of The Iron Lady. A qualitative analysis is a part of primary reasearch. It can be done either by investigating the subject or phenomenon. The qualitative data in this thesis are the intrinsic element of the movie that will be described and discussed in this report.The results of the research were about the plot arrangement and the type of the plot in The iron Lady movie. The plot arrangment consist of three part, they are the beginning, the middle, and the end. Based on the plot arrangement, the middle of the story is more interesting, because of the story present some complicated problems. However the story is still entertaining. Meanwhile the type of the plot of The iron Lady is Flashback. The aspects of the flasback plot are Exposition, Raising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Catastrophe.Keywords : Plot Arrangement, Flashback, Story

Abstract

Empat pilar pendidikan dalam pembelajaran fisika yang tercantum dalam kurikulum 2006 perlu diperhatikan, namun dalam kurikulum tersebut tidak dijelaskan bagaimana penjabarannya. Keterbatasan sarana laboratorium juga menjadi kendala dalam mendukung pembelajaran Fisika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran (LKM, SAP dan Buku Dosen) dan untuk mengetahui profil pembiasaan bekerja ilmiah dengan perangkat  pembelajaran fisika yang berbasis empat pilar pendidikan melalui kegiatan luar ruangan (outdoor-inquiry). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R&D) dengan menggunakan perangkat pengembangan pengajaran Dick & Carey. Perangkat pembelajaran ini dikembangkan melalui uji coba bertingkat pada perangkat pembelajaran serta mengevaluasinya. Evaluasi dilakukan pada masing-masing pilar, pilar learning to do diungkap melalui pensekoran pada isian LKM, pilar learning to know dilihat dari hasil tes pemahaman konsep, pilar learning to live together diungkap melalui pengamatan selama kegiatan dan pilar learning to be diungkap melalui peningkatan ketiga pilar lainnya selama pelaksanaan tiga LKM. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran dapat dilakukan melalui uji coba bertingkat secara individu, kelompok kecildan kelompok besar. Profil ketrampilan proses sains mahasiswa (learning to do) meningkat pada pelaksanaan LKM 01, LKM 02 dan LKM 03 dengan gain 0,29 dan 0,38. Pemahaman konsep mahasiswa (learning to know) meningkat pada pelaksanaan LKM 01, LKM 02 dengan gain 0,10 tetapi menurun pada pelaksanaan LKM 03 dengan gain- 0,09. Kemampuan bekerja kelompok mahasiswa (learning to live together) meningkat dengan gain 0,14 dan 0,50. Pembiasaan bekerja ilmiah (learning to be) meningkat dengan gain 0,18 dan 0,23. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa pengembangan perangkat dapat dilakukan   melalui   uji   coba   bertingkat   dan   hasil   penerapan   perangkat   dapat menunjukan kecenderungan  pembiasaan bekerja ilmiah pada  diri mahasiswa  mulai tumbuh. Respon sikap mahasiswa terhadap perangkat pembelajaran secara umum baik dan sangat baik. Kata Kunci: Empat pilar pendidikan, Outdoor – Inquiry, kebiasaan bekerja ilmiah

Abstract

The fact that writing was considered as difficult for most students still remained an unresolved issue. Yet, some educators still continued disregarding what was going on with students’ writing difficulty to promote appropriate way in their teaching of writing. Thus this study was aimed at finding out students’ writing difficulty in composing a descriptive text of the FirstYear Students at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. This study employed quantitative descriptive analysis to describe students’ writing difficulty. One class of first year students of English Language Study Program took part in this study. The data were gathered through writing test that was done on November 6th,2017. The finding showed that students had significant difficulty in composing a descriptive text. It was proved by the mean score of students’ writing quality, i.e. 46 or classified as very poorbased on the criteria suggested by Jacob (1981). Therefore, it was imperative for thelecturer in this class to encourage the learners togive more emphasis on itemsseen difficult by the students in composing the text. Keywords: students’ writing difficulty, teaching writing, descriptive text

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kontribusi media kuis interaktif terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar mahamahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket, tes, dan dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian yaitu mahamahasiswa angkatan 2017 program studi PTI off A dan B. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling, Offering A sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan Offering B sebagai kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar mahamahasiswa dengan penggunaan media kuis interaktif berbasis game edukasi kahoot! lebih baik dibandingkan menggunakan media kuis berbasis powerpoint. Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Kuis Interaktif, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

This study was about improving the teaching of speaking by applying ESA strategy tothestudents of English study program atSTKIP Persada KhatulistiwaSintang in Academic Year 2017/2018. It was a classroom action research (CAR) and  involved the first year students of English language study program. They were poor at speaking. The result of this research showed that ESA strategy succeeded improving the teaching speaking. The mean score was 71,67 in the first cycle and 80,28 in the second cycle. The improvement of the teaching learning process was based on the improvement of teaching learning behavior in the classroom. The change of behavior was notified from the classroom observation, field notes and interview which were discussed with the collaborator in the reflection stage. ESA strategy was found out helpful to improve students speaking ability. Keywords: Speaking, ESA Strategy, Job Interview
