Abstract

Rain-fed swamp is a type of freshwater swamp found in Pampangan Sub district of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency,South Sumatra, characterize by fluctuation of water level related to variation of rain precipitation. This research was carried out in Pampangan swamp by collected phytoplankton samples in 5 different month i.e. May, July, October and December 2011 and February 2012 in order to find out the diversity of phytoplankton in rain-fed swamp. Phytoplankton samples were collected by filtering 100 L swamp water through plankton net and 50 ml of filtrate were used for identification. Water quality parameters such as ph, alkalinity, hardness, conductivity, total-P, total-N, and Chlorophyll-a content also observed. The result showed that phytoplankton community in rain-fed swamp composed of 40 species member of 3 class; Bacillariophyceae (22 species), Chlorophyceae (14 species), and Cyanophyceae (4 species). Key words: Phytoplankton, rain-fed swamp, Pampangan

Abstract

Research of  insect of community structure on coffe  (Coffea robusta L.) in Belimbing Village Muara Pinang  Subdistrict   Sumatera Selatan Province, conducted  September till  October  2013, to saw insect species of coffe plant, density, ferquency, importan value index and  diversity index. The research used direct survey method, and data sampling with purpossive in  transect.   The result showed gated 15 species   insects are Valanga nigricornis, Anax sp, Neoconocephalus sp, Oecopylla smaragdina, Gryllus miratus, Hydrophilus sp,  Photuris sp, Zizinia sp, Mantis sp, Phyllophaga sp,  Hypothenemus hampei,  Bactrocera conformis,  Sexava sp, Tipula sp and Polistes sp. Oecopylla smaragdina  was dominant species, with importan value index  34,94%Diversity index was medium categhory with  H’ value  2,22. Key words :   diversity, insect,  Vigna sinensis

Abstract

Study bacterial content of the Musi river water at high tide and low tide in the city of Palembang was implemented in January through April 2014. Objective research to determine the water quality of the river Musi at high tide and low tide is based on the total number of bacteria and bacterial coliformnya. This study used a different test (T-test) consisting of 2 factors and 5 replications. Observation parameters consist of: the total number of bacterial colonies growing on media NA, and the number coliform test results obtained from the estimation and confirmation tests. The data obtained by different test T-test. The results of the calculation and analysis of the differences found in total bacterial counts at high tide and low tide, it appears that events tidal effect on the bacterial content in the water of the river Musi. Total content of more bacteria at low tide than at high tide. Key words: water river Musi, the total number of bacteria, and coliform bacteria

Abstract

Research to determine the effect of leaf powder Rimau (Toona sinensis Roem.) To death army worm larvae (Spodoptera litura F.) was conducted in August 2013 at the Forestry Research Institute  Palembang. The results shows Rimau leaf powder can cause death armyworm larvae and relatively less toxic. Key words: leaf powder Rimau, army worm larvae

Abstract

Research of  clasification    of   fish cyprinidae  Family    at  Pangi  river   Pengumbuk  village,  Banyuasin   regency  Sumatera Selatan province on  Agustus-September  2013. This research  utilited  the direct   observation  method  by collecting fish samples which were caught by fisherman along Pengumbuk river.  The result of the research geted 8  genera and 9 species.Key words : pengumbuk river, Classification,  Cyprinidae, spesies.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the distribution of Aphis gossypii (Glover) (Hemiptera: Aphidiidae ) on host plants in vegetable agroecosystems lowland and highland South Sumatra. Survey of host plants A. gossypii conducted at 11 sites in South Sumatra vegetable center. Distribution A. gossypii in South Sumatra lowland agroecosystems can be found in Kenten, Soak, Talang Buruk, Tanjungraja, Indralaya and Gelumbang, while in the highlands of South Sumatra agroecosystems colony A. gossypii can be found in Kerinjing , Muarasiban, Pagardin, Bedeng Kresek and Jarai. Distribution A. gossypii very close relation to their host plants that are cultivated plants and wild plants during the dry season and the rainy season. Cultivated plants are colonized A. gossypii mainly of family Cucubitaceae, Solanaceae, Araceae and Apiceae. Wild plants are colonized A. gossypii mainly of family Amaranthaceae, Asteraceae ( Compositae ), Commelinaceae, Ericaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Graminae, Malvaceae, Myrtaceae, Oxalidaceae and Solanaceae. Key words: Distribution, Aphis gossypii and Host Plants

Abstract

Research of taxonomy of fitopharmaca species was conducted at Riang Bandung  village in Madang Suku Dua Recency, Sumatera Selatan Province  on June till July 2013. The objective of this research was Plant had fitopharmaca potency. This research utilited the direct  observation with    around research location  during two weeks.  The result of the research gated 1 division, 2 class,  10  order,  10 family, 13 genera and 14 species as Imperata cylindrica , Curcuma domestica, Zingiber officinale, Alpinia galanga, Carica papaya, Citrus aurandifolia, Cinnamonum zeylanicum, Annona muricata, Piper betle, Piper nigrum, Jatropa curcas L. , Manihot utilisma,  Psidium guajava L., dan  Justicia gandarussa. Key words: taxonomy, fitopharmaca

Abstract

Kluwek (Pangium edule Reinw.) has many advantages, one of the advantages is as the material of insecticide by using cyanide acid that was toxic in seed. It needed the evidence to prove the advantages is as the material of insecticide of kluwek seed toward organism which was sensitive with cyanide acid material. The organism which was used: roach (Blatella germanica L.). The problems of this study were did the use of the extract kluwek seed (Pangium edule Reinw.) as the plants insecticide toward mortality of the roach (Blatella germanica L.). The method of this study has experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) at the six treatments and four replications, Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with SPSS version 16.0 programs. The result of this study were kluwek seed had significance effect toward mortality of roach (Blatella germanica L.) in the treatment (P5) with concentrate (125%). The roach was dead in twelve hour average. It means that (1) Use of the extract of kluwek seed as the plants insecticide with concentrate among 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and 125% had significance effect toward mortality of the roach (Blatella germanica L.). Key words: mortality, kluwek seed, and roach

Abstract

This study aims to determine the metal content of cadmium (Cd) in mussel (Corbicula sp.) in Palembang Musi River. The sampling method was purposive sampling method. Based on the source of metal contamination of cadmium (Cd) in the Musi River in Palembang administrative region, the location of the study were divided into eight stations. The results showed the average metal concentrations of cadmium (Cd) in mussel tissue (Corbicula sp.) of 0.6801 mg / kg with a range of concentrations between 0.4320 mg / kg - 0.9470 mg / kg with the highest concentration in the area Pulokerto and lowest in the shipyard area of PT. Mariana Bahagia. Cadmium metal concentrations in mussel tissue (Corbicula sp.) is still under No. SNI. 7387 the year 2009 is equal to 1.0 mg / kg. Key words: cadmium, mussels, Musi River
