Abstract

The purpose study to recognize compatibility utilization igneous rock and volcanic breccia in research area based on rock characteristic and rock engineering properties. Igneous and volcanic breccias in the study area can be used as a basic building materials but need to be investigated compatibility use in accordance with the characteristics and properties owned engineering standards prevailing rock.

Abstract

Geo-electric investigation is done at Asrama Rindam areal, Sentani Resort, Jayapura Regenc, Papua Province. The investigationis required to detection of rock and subsurface condition. Methode of geo-electric to support for groundwater investigation to use the soldier need at the Asrama Rindam, Sentani Resort, The vertical layer are layer-1 as the soil, layer-2 as tufaceous brecia, laye-3 as tufaseous sand, layer-4 as tufaseous brecia, layer-5 as volcanic brecia, layer-6 as tufaseous sand, and layer-7 as volcanic brecia. The rock layer groundwater potencial or reservoar are tufaseous sand at the 10 meter and 49 meter depth.

Abstract

A vertical distributions from quantitative analysis of ostracods and Total Organic carbon (TOC) was recorded from short sediment core from inner part of Jakarta Bay. A total of 56 ostracod species were obtained from 9 core samples. The dominant species were Keijella carriei and Loxoconcha wrighti, which are common in areas with high TOC and TN contents. According to analysis of ostracod assemblages and CNS analysis, the site began to be influenced by organic contamination from around 1950. Although the population of Jakarta City has increased rapidly since then, TOC and TN contents which were low, have gradually increased (0.58%–0.9%). The increased sedimentation rate after 1950 resulted in an increasing TOC ratio.

Abstract

The research location at Majalengka and its surrounding, West Java. The study was conducted in an effort to know soil bearing capacity for various types of foundations which depend on the physical and material properties of the soil. Location of samples obtained from three locations: Kertajati, Cikijing and Cigintung. Samples obtained in the form of high plasticity clay (CH) with the activity rate (A) between 1.01 to 1.42 (with Skempton method) or 1.12 to 1.61 (the Seed method), samples are high activity clays, included of monmorilonitic mineral. Alloweble soil bearing capacity (qa) for a square foundation type, between 11.04 to 19.50 T/M2; for a circular (rounded) foundation types, from 11.00 until 19.07 T/M2; and for the type of continuous foundation, between 8 , 85 to 15.28 T/M2. To avoid of the failure of the foundation, the building load should not exceed the value of allowable soil bearing capacity. The estimated expansive soils, soil improvement is required to be done.

Abstract

Upper Citarum Catchments Area which is a function as buffer of Saguling Dam, has been pressuring to bear heavy loads. Various studies have been done, but still required analysis, discussion and identification of sources of erosion, and sedimentation that affect the operational life time of Saguling Hydroelectric Power Dam . The rate of erosion and sedimentation analysis done based on secondary data research / previous measurement. Satellite imagery "Google-earth" was interpreted, then performed field observation. Change of land use / land cover imply for increasing the value of CP. Total erosion in the upper Citarum Catchment was 15,206,301 tons / ha / yr. Deposition in the reservoir in 2002 was 4,197,152 tons, so the "Sediment delivery ratio" was 27.6%. Based on deposition data in reservoirs of the Year 1987-2007, the operational life time of hydroelectric power is expected to 56 years from 59 years of planned or "dead storage" will be exceeded in 1942..
