Abstract

Since 1980s, social role of the Kyai (Islamic Religious Teachers) has attracted many Indonesian dan International researchers. However, the research publications are mostly from the point of view of the Islamic researchers, therefore, they are less objective. We recognise „teacher-student relationship bias‟ and „insiders‟ point of view bias‟ because the researchers did backyard research. This article is meant to address the issue.

Abstract

From time to time Indonesia tourism image has been evolving and influnced by many factors. However since the colonial era, Indonesia tourism image has been designed in terms of Mooi Indie, and although the image it self already evolving, the terms of Mooi Indie stays in debate. This article tries to argue despite the pro and contra about the bad impact of tourism in terms of Mooi Indie, there are some differences between Mooi Indie in past and present time. Under the current development of tourism paradigm in the world as well in Indonesia, there are new hopes for overcoming bad impacts brought by tourism activities. In the end, Indonesia tourism image will always remain in tension between what is beautiful and the what’s in the reality. Thus, Mooi Indie can not be allowed an understood as the only image and tools to produce tourism reality, but rather as a critisism and motivation to achive the ultime goal of tourism in Indonesia.

Abstract

By relying on the people's livelihood through agricultural processed is certainly result on a threat to crop farmers, for it is important in applying the concept of biosecurity in an effort to protect the biological durability. Kanike community that exist in isolated conditions shall protect their biological resilience by not using pesticides and other chemicals, but applied on using secondhand materials, leaves and also the application of traditional values in society. This concept come out from the local knowledge of they community based of local wisdom. This local wisdom has gone over generations on them because of the legacy from the ancestors, the inheritance that happen through knowledge sharing and also experience in observing the process undertaken by their ancestors, in this way greatly help the Kanike community who is still in isolated area to maintain their sustainable livelihood.

Abstract

Since the enactment of decentralization local government have been granted the authority to organize, protect society etc. Given the authority that Central Kalimantan provincial government issued a policy (Pergub No. 15 tahun 2010 on guidelines for land clearing and yard for the people) to protect the local community in the tradition / habit of farming by burning forests to customary provisions. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the extent to which public policy relevance since the issuance of the policy in 2010-2015 and to what extent these policies protect the local wisdom. the method used is descriptive qualitative study, using the study of literature in the process of data collection. Results and discussion of these studies show that 1) in 2015 created a policy that is no longer relevant because the whole area of Central Kalimantan is 15.3 million hectares, 12.7 hectares (78%) is controlled by plantation companies. 2) goodwill by the Government of Central Kalimantan to protect local communities need to be given appreciation. But this policy could apply / relevant if it is done before the 90s because many forests and local people still farming to meet food needs.

Abstract

Tobelo sub-district, Halmahera Utara (HALUT) regency, Maluku Utara (MALUT) province is one of sub-districts with full of gambling practices one of them is lottery gambling. This study is aimed at investigating and describing lottery gambling practices that people in Tobelo sub-district do based on the social and economic aspect point of view. This study was done in Tobelo sub-district, HALUT-MALUT. The method that employed in this study was descriptive qualitative. The findings show that lottery gambling practices which are often done by people in Tobelo was form of each individual meaning depends on the individual needs so that was why he did it. Besides that, there were some pros and cons opinion toward these gambling practices in Tobelo.
