Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of the textbook al-‘Arabiyyah li al-Dārisiin for twelfth-grade students used at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Lamongan, by examining its conformity based on the content analysis categories developed by Rushdi Ahmad Thu‘aimah. This framework was chosen due to its more comprehensive scope compared to other analytical models. The study employed a qualitative approach using content analysis as its method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the textbook al-‘Arabiyyah li al-Dārisiin contains a foreword by the author, a vocabulary list, and instructional materials organized into five thematic units. Each unit includes four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Overall, the content of this textbook is largely aligned with Rushdi Ahmad Thu‘aimah’s analytical categories, particularly in terms of general data, book layout, and material characteristics. However, several components are lacking, such as the absence of a teacher’s guide, evaluation instruments, and supporting audio recordings.

Abstract

Managing Arabic language instruction for non-native speakers requires strategies that integrate pedagogical clarity, cultural sensitivity, and adaptive learning tools. This study aims to examine the management practices applied in the Arabic program at Al-Kindi Association and how these practices contribute to effective language acquisition. The background of this research stems from the increasing demand for structured Arabic education programs that meet both academic and practical communication needs of diverse learners. The study emphasizes three core areas of program management: curriculum design, instructional methods, and evaluation systems. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with program coordinators and instructors, classroom observations, and documentation of learning materials and evaluation instruments. The findings reveal that the program’s management is rooted in learner-centered planning, with a focus on communicative competence, blended learning, and reflective evaluation. Key strategies such as the integration of digital platforms, peer-based teaching, and culturally immersive learning activities contribute significantly to learner motivation and achievement. These findings suggest that a holistic and adaptive management model can enhance the quality and sustainability of Arabic language education for non-native speakers.

Abstract

In Islamic educational institutions, Arabic language programs often encounter challenges in harmonizing traditional pedagogical values with contemporary instructional reforms. This research aims to analyze the strategic management of Arabic language instruction at an Islamic secondary school through a case study of the Language Department's leadership practices. Employing a qualitative approach, the study gathered data through interviews, documentation analysis, and participatory observation. Thematic analysis based on the Miles and Huberman model was used to uncover key patterns related to planning, leadership behavior, and stakeholder engagement. The findings reveal that the department effectively integrates managerial functions planning, organizing, leading, and controlling into its instructional management. The head of the department plays a dual role as both academic leader and cultural mediator, bridging traditional Arabic teaching methods with modern communicative approaches. Additionally, the department institutionalizes student feedback through structured forums and evaluation instruments, fostering participatory reform. These results highlight that sustainable improvement in Arabic language teaching is shaped not only by systematic planning but also by relational leadership and inclusive evaluation practices. The study contributes to a contextual framework for managing language programs in faith-based educational settings.

Abstract

In many Islamic education contexts, teaching Arabic composition poses pedagogical challenges due to students’ limited exposure to structured writing and syntactic complexity. This study aims to examine the application and pedagogical impact of the Short Card Method as an instructional tool for improving Arabic writing skills within an intensive education program. Using a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted through class observations, student writing analysis, and interviews with learners and instructors. The data were analyzed thematically using the Miles and Huberman model to identify key patterns in learning behavior, grammatical development, and engagement dynamics. The findings demonstrate that the Short Card Method significantly enhances students' grammatical accuracy, fosters cognitive engagement, and improves coherence in written compositions. By incorporating color-coded, manipulable sentence and paragraph components, the method allows students to visualize syntactic relationships and logically organize ideas before writing. These outcomes suggest that low-tech, visual-based learning tools can effectively support Arabic writing instruction when combined with constructivist learning principles. The study contributes an innovative, student-centered approach to teaching composition that is adaptable to faith-based and resource-constrained learning environments.

Abstract

This study investigates the post-pandemic Arabic reading proficiency of newly enrolled students at an Islamic senior high school, with a focus on identifying disparities in comprehension and decoding skills. Using a quantitative descriptive design, the research assessed 118 students through a structured performance test measuring four core components: letter recognition, vocabulary understanding, sentence comprehension, and short discourse interpretation. Data were supported by observation logs and documentation. Results show that while 84% of students demonstrated strong decoding abilities, only 38% could comprehend simple sentences, and less than 25% could understand short texts. The analysis further revealed a stark proficiency gap between students from Madrasah Aliyah (MA) and those from senior high schools (SMA), indicating that prior exposure and institutional background significantly affect reading competence. This study contributes to Arabic education research by providing diagnostic insight into the cognitive impact of pandemic-era learning and the need for targeted remediation. However, its limitation lies in the single-site context and lack of longitudinal tracking, suggesting a need for future multi-phase studies to explore intervention outcomes.

Abstract

Writing skill has become very important in the field of foreign language education. Based on the results of the preliminary study, it appears that the interest of Al-Shifa High School in teaching students to write in Arabic is still low due to the teacher's lack of creativity in using media other than the blackboard and little practice. Therefore, their writing proficiency is weak. From observation, the researcher found that the school has a projector (LCD). Therefore, the researcher developed teaching materials using PowerPoint. The objectives of this research are: 1). To know the development of teaching materials using PowerPoint to improve writing skills at Al-Shifa Islamic High School, Central Sulawesi, 2). To know the effectiveness of developing teaching materials using PowerPoint to improve writing skills at Al-Shifa Islamic High School, Central Sulawesi. Abstract

In an increasingly connected era of globalization, expertise in foreign languages, especially Arabic, is becoming an important asset for individuals across different backgrounds. This article analyzes the course institution Bimbel Bunga in Banjar Baru City, which offers Arabic language learning programs. Using a SWOT analysis approach, this research explores the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the institution. The strengths of Tutoring Bunga lie in the flexibility of learning time and the number of competent tutors. However, weaknesses in the provision of teaching materials and less focus on language fluency are challenges that need to be overcome. Opportunities to become a leading course institution are increasingly open with the increasing public interest in learning Arabic, while threats from fierce competition and dwindling teaching tutors require proactive strategies to ensure program sustainability. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews and observations. The results showed that Bimbel Bunga has great potential to grow by implementing innovations in teaching, improving teaching materials, and using technology. With the right strategy, this institution can improve the quality of Arabic language education and meet the growing needs of the community.
