Abstract

This program was conducted on the Nagari Atar duck farm, Padang Ganting District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. This activity aims to overcome the problems of developing ducks such as the high price of feed, the lack of information about the preparation of rations based on local ingredients and the traditional maintenance system. In addition, this activity aims to increase the knowledge of farmers about probiotics and their benefits and how to use them, so that the use of Waretha probiotics in laying ducks can overcome problems in the development of laying ducks business, such as reducing the high cost of feed and making it more affordable for smallholder farms. The method of activities carried out to overcome this problem can be done with several approaches, namely learning in the form of training and mentoring with a team of service as facilitators in the form of introducing WARETHA probiotic products and practicing how to use them and how to prepare rations for laying ducks at various age levels, so that the use of Waretha probiotics can suppress high feed costs. The results of this activity are reducing production costs, increasing farmers' income and being able to reduce the smell of feces around the cage which is environmentally friendly as well as increasing the knowledge of farmers about the benefits and how to use Waretha probiotics. The conclusion of this community service activity is that it can increase the knowledge of farmers about the management of laying ducks by using Waretha probiotics and the use of local feed ingredients, so as to reduce production costs and reduce feed costs.

Abstract

Jengkol is a plant native to the tropics that is often found throughout Indonesia. Jengkol plants are woody shrubs with an average height of up to 20 meters and can live in the highlands and lowlands with brown and round fruit. Sido Makmur Village is one of the villages producing the best quality jengkol plants, which is well known outside the Mentawai Islands Regency, because it tastes good but does not smell. Every jengkol season in Sido Makmur Village, you will find jengkol fruit scattered on the side of the road because jengkol fruit is only consumed for daily side dishes and as a barrier to the house yard and is not utilized optimally. Seeing this condition, it is necessary to process jengkol fruit so that it is useful and efficient and can increase the income of the local community. The purpose of this activity is to provide the understanding and increase public knowledge as business actors of jengkol fruit about the procedures for its management and marketing methods using TTG (Appropriate Technology), such as; Market Place, Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, YouTube, and Instagram so that the results can increase people's income. In this activity, the method used is the lecture method and brainstorming by explaining and explaining training materials about the benefits of the jengkol plant and the processing procedures, as well as exchanging ideas and experiences between the resource persons and participants so that they can produce various kinds of culinary versions of jengkol fruit such as jengkol crackers, jengkol satay. , jengkol rendang, and jengkol nuggets. This activity was carried out in the Sido Makmur Village office hall, which was attended by 15 (fifteen) participants who were members of 3 (three) hamlets. The results of this activity are 1). Participants can understand the benefits of processing jengkol fruit, 2). Participants can process jengkol fruit into several types of culinary products such as jengkol crackers, jengkol satay, jengkol rendang, and jengkol nuggets, 3). Participants are inquisitive about the development of Appropriate Technology, so they can market jengkol fruit production outside the Mentawai Islands Regency, namely Padang City.

Abstract

The Tunas Harapan Women Farmers Group, Limau Manis Village, Pauh District, Padang City is one of the farmer groups that has various problems such as drought, high amount of unused land and arid land. The main crop planted during the rainy season is lowland rice, but most of the land becomes idle land during the dry season. Another problem that is often faced during the implementation of cultivation is the problem of soil quality, the lack of organic matter in the soil can also be the cause of degradation which has an impact on decreasing the productivity of rice plants. In terms of fertilization, farmers in this location still use artificial fertilizers (chemical fertilizers), where the use of chemical fertilizers can also reduce the quality of agricultural food so that it is not safe for consumption. The purpose of this activity is to increase public knowledge that corncob waste and cocoa waste that are widely available in the surrounding environment can be used as compost material. The method used is the method of socialization, counseling and discussion as well as demonstrations in the form of the practice of making rhizocompost directly in the field with farmer groups and the surrounding community. The results of this activity obtained rhizocompost made from corn cobs waste and cocoa waste. The conclusion that can be drawn from this activity is the increasing understanding of the community, especially the Farmers Group (KWT Tunas Harapan) about the benefits of corncob waste and cocoa waste that can be used as the main ingredients for making compost.

Abstract

Nagari Sungai Kunyit, South Solok, is dubbed a plantation area. Most of the plantation land is in the form of oil palm plantations. The area of oil palm plantations in this village often increases the number of palm fruit and CPO produced, causing an abundance of palm oil waste products such as empty palm oil marks. However, the potential of this palm oil waste has not been utilized to make it a commodity that has economic value. For this reason, it is necessary to process the waste into compost. This activity aims to 1. increase the knowledge and ability of farmer groups in Sungai Kunyit Nagari processing empty fruit bunches of oil palm as organic fertilizer and 2. increase the motivation of farmer groups in Sungai Kunyit Nagari to use organic fertilizers in their agricultural cultivation business. This activity has been carried out in Nagari Sungai Kunyit, Sangir Balai Janggo District, South Solok Regency. The target of the activity is a farmer group in Nagari Sungai Kunyit, South Solok. The methods used in this activity are socialization/counseling, training, and evaluation. The results of this activity can increase the knowledge, skills, and understanding of partners in making organic fertilizers made from oil palm empty fruit bunches and manure. It can even increase farmer groups' motivation in Nagari Sungai Kunyit, South Solok, to make organic fertilizer. From the results of the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the manufacture of organic fertilizers can be carried out with partners, which are made from empty oil palm bunches and manure. It is hoped that this can be sustainable to increase crop productivity.

Abstract

The primary feed source for ruminants is forage, which must be available in sufficient quantities. However, sometimes in the long dry season in Ujung Gading, West Pasaman, this forage is challenging to find. One source of feed that has not been utilized is rice straw. Straw is part of the rice stem without roots. Giving rice straw directly to livestock has low digestibility and low nutritional value. The objectives of this activity are 1. to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in processing rice straw as quality animal feed from agricultural waste and 2. to develop the ammonia technology of straw as feed for ruminants. This activity has been carried out in Nagari Ujung Gading, Lembah Melintang District, West Pasaman Regency. The targets of this activity are farmers and the community in Nagari Ujung Gading, West Pasaman. The method of implementing the activities are socialization, training, and evaluation. The result of the implementation of the exercise is that there is an improvement in farmers' understanding and skills in rice straw processing using straw ammoniation technology as animal feed. The processing of agricultural waste in the form of ammoniated rice straw aims to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in processing rice straw as quality animal feed from agricultural waste. Using straw ammonia technology aims to improve feed quality and digestibility for ruminants. This ammonia technique is easy to do, inexpensive, and does not pollute the environment. From the activity results, it can be concluded that rice straw ammoniation technology using urea can increase the nutritional value of rice straw as animal feed. The ammoniated rice straw can increase the energy value of the feed and effectively remove the microorganism contamination found in the rice straw.
