Abstract

Tenaya Raya district Pekanbaru Indonesia was the second higher rank area of covid-19 spread in Pekanbaru city. We did a Community empowerment program: SPP (Socialization, Prevention, and Data Collection) in Tenayan Raya District. The program's implementation was done for 14 working days, started from June 15 to 30, 2020. The socialization activity aimed to understand the importance of Covid-19 prevention through media such as; brochures and banners in Tenan Raya district. Moreover, the socialization activity also was done by counseling for markets and daily merchants. Then, prevention activities were like disinfectant spraying, masker distribution, hand washing facilities for comfortable and safe activities. In addition, the data collection activity about community medical history was used for policy-making related to Covid-19 prevention. The method that was used in this research was counseling and speech or gave information about Covid-19 to the community. The result was the socialization program, and Covid-19 prevention was done well, which can be perceived as improving the community understanding about Covid-19. It can be seen by community awareness in using masker, washing hand in a public place, for example; market place and disinfectant spraying in worship place twice or three times a week.

Abstract

The covid 19 pandemics that hit Indonesia also impacted aspects of public health, especially for the elderly. The implementation of physical distancing to prevent the transmission of Covid 19 will impact discomfort for all individuals, including the elderly. The elderly are forced to be in their respective homes, which causes the reduced physical activity to reduce endurance. This service aims to improve the understanding and skills of health cadres about physical activity for the elderly and the benefits obtained, including body fitness, increased endurance, and optimization of cognitive function in the elderly. The method used is to provide counseling and skills training for cadres in demonstrating the appropriate forms and types of physical activity for the elderly. The target of this service is Health Cadres in Kalimeri Hamlet, Tambakasri Village, T Kerajinan Subdistrict, Malang Regency. The result of the implementation of this community service activity is that there has been an increase in the knowledge or understanding and skills of health cadres about physical activity for the elderly, where the cadres have become more aware of the importance of carrying out physical activity, especially for the elderly and types of physical activity that are suitable for the elderly.

Abstract

Laboratory technician skills in handling experimental animals are needed by the study program, which uses experimental animals in the lecture and research process. The Biology Laboratory of FMIPA UNNES has the resources to practice these skills. As the realization of the 3rd Dharma of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, community service is carried out to improve the skills of higher education laboratory technicians both private and public universities in the city of Semarang in handling experimental animals. The method used is training in the form of hands-on practice. The animals used were mice and white rats. The trained practices were bioethics, maintenance techniques, handling, gavage, drawing blood, and vaginal smears of experimental animals. The participants consisted of 29 laboratory technicians from general medicine, dentistry, biology, biology education, pharmacy, and animal husbandry study programs. The training instructors consist of lecturers, technicians, and student assistants. The training was held for two days by implementing health protocols. As a result, the participants improved their skills. From the beginning, only 29,26% of participants had the knowledge and skills to handle experimental animals at the end of the training, increasing to 86.84%. It concludes that the participants have increased their knowledge and skills in handling experimental animals.
