Abstract

The book Konflik Agraria: Kebijakan Industrialisasi, Dualisme Hukum, dan Dekade Krisis offers a critical reflection on the imbalance in the management of agrarian resources in Indonesia. It thematically discusses issues of agrarian reform, the historical roots of conflict, sociological-legal approaches, and case studies such as Banyuwangi, which illustrate how industrialization policies have escalated land conflicts. The author highlights the dominance of state and corporate power in shaping policies, along with the weak legal protection afforded to agrarian communities. While the book presents important data and case studies, it is considered lacking in theoretical depth, field-based approaches, and transformative solutions. Additional criticism is directed at its disjointed narrative structure and less evocative language. Despite these limitations, the book serves as a valuable starting point for understanding agrarian conflict, though it leaves ample room for deeper conceptual exploration and approaches more aligned with social justice. Keywords: agrarian conflict, industrialization, agrarian law, agrarian reform, social justice.

Abstract

Youth unemployment has become a pervasive issue globally, with profound implications for individuals, communities and economies, particularly in Nigeria where a substantial portion of the youth is absorbed into informal sectors characterized by low productivity, minimal job security and limited access to social benefits. This study examined the innovative employment creation in the midst of widespread unemployment among youths in Ibadan specifically investigating the reasons youth engage in Innovative Employment Creation (IEC), the challenges faced and the coping mechanisms adopted. IECs are new and usual economic activities and business efforts youths engage in to earn income so as to escape unemployment which is widespread and a social reality in Nigeria. Descriptive research design was used. Human Capital Theory was used as theoretical framework. Structured questionnaire and in-depth interviews (IDIs) were used to gather data. Findings suggest that addressing the challenges of youth unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship requires a collaborative approach involving educational institutions, government agencies, private sectors and community stakeholders. It is therefore recommended that all the above-mentioned stakeholders should enhance access to entrepreneurship education and training programs while supports to youths are key as they continue to innovate to combat widespread youths unemployment in Nigeria and Africa. Keywords: youth, unemployment, innovative employment creation, undergraduate students

Abstract

The agricultural sector is crucial for meeting global food and nutritional needs, with East Java Province in Indonesia having the highest yields and being the safest sector from the pandemic. To maximize land area, land efficiency is essential, using superior seed varieties, chemical fertilizers, efficient irrigation systems, and modern agricultural tools. This research focuses on the agricultural community in Trawas Mojokerto and the efficiency of agricultural land in Duyung Village. Most farmers use sickles, hoes, animals, simple machines, and tractors for agriculture. A survey of 100 farmers in Duyung Village revealed that 44 people use sickles as traditional tools, while 23 use livestock for ploughing. Tractors are used for efficiency and energy savings but are rarely used due to lack of counseling from government institutions. Technological tools are used for specific soil types and must be rented before use. The majority of farmers need counseling to learn about the latest tools, and government assistance is lacking. The study also found that 68.9% of farmers do not use printed rice seeds, while 31.1% use them. Long rice seeds are preferred due to their quality and resistance to pests. The majority of farmers use direct soil irrigation systems, which vary in soil fertility levels. Fertilizer use varies, with 77.8% using urea and 20% using compost and urea. The Duyung Village community is efficient in land management, with most farmers understanding the importance of efficiency.

Abstract

Transgender women in Indonesia frequently face social exclusion in various aspects of life, including education, employment, and access to healthcare. When associated with HIV/AIDS, their position becomes even more marginalized due to the double stigmatization attached to gender identity and health status. This study aims to describe the forms of social exclusion experienced by transgender women and to examine how Yayasan Srikandi Pasundan in Bandung serves as a safe and inclusive space for transgender individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and literature review. The findings reveal that transgender women with HIV/AIDS experience exclusion through healthcare denial, social alienation, and limited access to basic rights. On the other hand, Yayasan Srikandi Pasundan plays an important role as an alternative space that not only provides health services but also fosters community solidarity and the restoration of collective dignity. This study highlights the importance of community-based support in addressing the layered marginalization faced by transgender women in realizing an inclusive city, where every individual, including marginalized groups, can access basic rights equally. Keywords:  HIV/AIDS, social inclusion, policy, waria community, stigma
