Abstract

Embung as a man made water reservoir is one of methods to overcome the water shortage in the border area, Belu District, East Nusa Tenggara Province. A number of 27 embungs were built by Regional Government in this area. Embung water and environment management is the main problem to sustain water resource. The research to inventory and identify of vegetation, to predict erosion, to monitor water balance, and to optimize water utilization were conducted, in 2005-2008. The research was undertaken in Embung Leosama. Methods were survey, observation, monitoring and analysis. Results were: (1). There were 7 species and 90 individual number of tree; (2). Prediction of erosion was 97.383 ton/ha/year; (3). Water depth as indicator of embung water balance was decrease due to a little rainfall volume in rainy season 2006/2007; but it was increase in 2007/2008; (4). Embung water can be optimized for drinking cattle, horticulture, nursery and regreening irrigation.Key Words: embung, erosion, water balance.

Abstract

Environment degradation in Rawa Pening’s lake is caused of descend lake’s functions for some potentions and activities around the lake. Some problems in the Rawa Pening’s lake has emerged i.e : decrease water quality of lake, abundance of water hyacinth growth and increase sediment in the bottom lake. A research about infl uences of land ecosystem on Panjang and Galeh river corridors for Rawa Pening’s lake has been done. Two rivers named Galeh and Panjang are the largest water contribution in Rawa Pening’s lake. That caused the land characteristic ecosystem of that river corridors gives infl uences in the Rawa Pening’s lake.Key words: land ecosystem, river corridor, water contribution, Rawa Pening Lake.

Abstract

Industrial parks play a signifi cant role in the production and use of goods and services. The proper management of solid waste is a major challenge for industrial parks due to the large quantity of wastes and the variability of waste characteristics from these types of developments. Therefore, integrated solid waste management has become very crucial to the industrial park managers. Such an approach requires industrial park managers to assess the overall use of resources, and to seek waste reduction, reuse and recycling opportunities both at the individual company level and among different tenant companies. The adoption of this method can bring both economic and environmental benefits.Key words : SWM, Industrial Park, 3R

Abstract

Penaeus monodon or tiger prawn is the most prominent farmed crustacean product in international trade and has driven a signifi cant expansion in aquaculture in many developing countries in Asia. Market prices during its early development were quite good due to little competition and strong demand from the international markets, mainly Japanese market. Culture technology in inland areas has been improved using a very minimal amount of seawater (only 2-3ppt) and closed systems to prevent salinization offreshwater resources. The model of culturing commercial tiger prawn on minimal amount of seawater in Lamongan Regency was applied since 1987.Key words : benur udang windu, Peneaeus Monodon

Abstract

Biodiesel is a viable substitute for petroleum-based diesel fuel. Its advantages are improved lubricity, higher cetane number and cleaner emission. Biodiesel and its blends with petroleum-based diesel fuel can be used in diesel engines without any signifi cant modifi cations to the engines. Data from the numerous research reports and test programs showed that as the percent of biodiesel in blends increases, emission of hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and particulate matter (PM) all decrease, but the amount of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and fuel consumption is tend to increase. The most signifi cant hurdle for broader commercialization of biodiesel is its cost. In current fuel price policy in Indonesia (especially fuel for transportation), the higher percent of biodiesel in blend will increase the price of blends fuel. The objective of this study is to assess the optimum blends of biodiesel with petroleum-based diesel fuel from the technically and economically consideration. The study result recommends that 20% biodiesel blend with 80% petroleum-based diesel fuel (B20) is the optimum blend for unmodifi ed diesel engine uses. Keywords: biodiesel, emission, optimum, blend

Abstract

The increasing of malaria cases in recent years at Kecamatan Kalibawang has been suspected correspond with the conversion of farming land-use which initiated in 1993. Four years after the natural vegetation in this area were changed become cocoa and coffee commercial farming estates, the number of malaria cases in 1997 rose more than six times, and in 2000 it reached 6085. This study were aimed to observe whether there were any differences in density and diversity of Anopheles as malaria vector between the cocoa and mix farming during dry and rainy seasons. The results of the study are useful for considering the appropriate methods, times and places for mosquito vector controlling. The study activities comprised of collecting Anopheles as well as identifying the species to determine the density and diversity of the malaria vector. Both activities were held four weeks in dry season and four weeks in rainy season. The mea-surement of physical factors such as temperature, humidity and rainfall were also conducted to support the study results. Four dusuns which meet the criteria and had the highest malaria cases were selected as study location. Descriptively, the results shows that the number of collected Anopheles in cocoa farming were higher compared with those in mix horticultural farming; and the number of Anopheles species identifi ed in cocoa farming were also more varied than those in the mix horticultural farming.Key words: bionomik vektor malaria, anopheles,

Abstract

Soya bean sauce waste water is an high organic wastewater and has dark colour, therefore it is diffi cult to degrade it biologically. Base on as mentioned above, it is tried to process it with coagulation and fl okulation use Alumunium sulphate and PAC which is added to wastewater with several dosis variation of Alumunium sulphate: 100, 200, 300. 250, and PAC with dosis 50, 100, 150, 200 ppm. Experiment result shows the experiment which use a match Alumunium sulphate and PAC as coagulant could give a good quality of processing and suitable with the treshhold of wastewater. The application of fl okulan Aquaklir 240 could help the performance of coagulan that can be seen from the fl oc size form.Key words : fl occulation, coagulation.

Abstract

There are two objectives of this research. First, to calculate water available and water need in the research area and second, to analysis the water balance. Water available cover rivers water and springs water, whereas water need cover domestic usage, industrial usage, rivers protect, cattle, fi shery and irrigation. As a result, show that the biggest water available in Central Java is in Serayu River Basin namely 8615.33 million m3/year, whereas the smallest is in Juana River Basin namely 88.39 million m3/year. In East Java, the biggest water available is in Downstream Bengawan Solo River Basin namely 26149.38 million m3/year, whereas the smallest is in Luminu Penguluran River Basin namely 45.26 million m3/year. Base on the water balance, the water balance of both province are also variatifl y. In Central Java, Serang-Lusi, Juana and Citanduy River Basin get water defi cit along years, whereas in East Java, it is just Luminu Penguluran River Basin that get defi cit along years. According the water surplus, Serayu River Basin in Central Java and Downstream Bengawan Solo River Basin in East Java get water surplus along years.Key words : water available, water need, water balance

Abstract

Like other Cities in Indonesia, Kota Probolinggo also faces municipal solid waste problems. To overcome it, Kota Probolinggo is trying to do activity of garbage recycle at household scale and also in neighbour scale. One of the efforts is converting it to become organic fertilizer with a good quality, a real fertilizer required by the farmers to improve soil fertility which becoming decreases. To support the activity, in year budget 2008/2009, Pusat Teknologi Lingkungan - BPPT has done a disemination technology of Accelerated Revolver Windrow Composting (ARWC) for optimization of composting which have been done in Kota Probolinggo. Technology ARWC was developed by BPPT which has been checked and tested. Technology ARWC is fermentation system of organic garbage done aerobically by the way of heaped (windrow) and revolved regularly, turns into stable matter like humus in accelerated time. The product is compost, either in the form of ordinary compost and also compost granule, with a good quality and fulfi lls national standard. Processing activity of garbage becomes organic fertilizer has opened new employment and increases management system effi ciency and lengthens TPA age.Key Words: Municipal solid waste, Composting
