Abstract

Black soybean (Glycine soja Linn. Sieb.) contain flavonoid compounds known as isoflavones. Isoflavones are kind of flavonoid which is the highest antioxidative activity exhibited by the isoflavones aglycones, especially genistein. Isoflavone glycosides containt in G. soja can be hydrolyzed to be aglycone (genistein) using an acid. The aim if this research was to investigate the antioxidant activity of the hydrolyzed G. soja extract that was obtained by β-carotene bleaching method. The result showed that the hydrolyzed G. soja extract has the value of antioxidant activity 42.8% and 81.1% for the standards solution of quercetin. Therefore, it can conclude that the hydrolyzed G. soja extract has the efficacy as an antioxidant.

Abstract

A research on the antimicrobial activity assay of leaf extract of Moringa (Moringa oleifera Lam.) by disk diffusion method then continued to TLC-bioautography has been done. Moringa leaves macerated using ethanol 70%. The antimicrobial activity on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus which was resistant to antibiotics cultured Mueller Hinton Agar by agar diffusion method. The results showed that moringa leaf extract began to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli at a concentration 100 mg/mL (d= 6.80 mm) and 50 mg/mL (9.20 mm). Identification of common compounds by TLC showed the extract contain alkaloids, steroids, terpenes, phenolics, and flavonoids, and terpenoid active in TLC-bioautography.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapat formula yang stabil secara fisik dan efektif sebagai anti aging dari albumin yang diisolasi dari putih telur. Albumin hasil isolasi diformulasikan kedalam bentuk gel dengan 3 variasi konsentrasi: F1 (1%), F2 (2%), dan F3 (3%). Evaluasi fisik dilakukan sebelum dan setelah penyimpanan terkondisi dalam climatic chamber, dua suhu berbeda 5 dan 35°C setiap 12 jam, 75% RH, dan 10 siklus. Sementara untuk uji efektifitas dilakukan pada 3 probandus berumur diatas 30 tahun, tidak mempergunakan kosmetik lain dan tidak menunjukkan reaksi alergi pada putih telur. Gel dioleskan pada punggung tangan kiri sementara disisi yang lain tanpa diolesi krim. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua formula stabil secara fisik akan tetapi F3 (3%) menunjukkan potensi sebagai anti anging dan berbeda secara nyata dengan formula yang lain (p> 0,05). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa albumin yang terisolasi dari butih telur dapat diformulasikan menjadi gel yang berkhasiat anti anging.

Abstract

Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica L) is a plant thatis used as fodder. This plant contain a high cellulose content 96,7%, which can be used as the manufacture of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. The purpose of this study to synthesize the carboxymethyl cellulose from the isolation of coarse grass (Imperata cylindrica L). Na.CMC of coarse grass (Imperata cylindrica L) obtained by alkalization of cellulose with sodium hydroxide in the solvent isopropyl alcohol in submitting etherification using sodium chloro acetate. Results of qualitative testing color identification with reactant molischshowed positive resuls, analysis formed muchilagform, a o white swelling, viscocity 8Cp, pH of 6 with a purity of 95.8%, flame test Na+ are marked with a yellow flame and FTIR results showed the wave number 3442 cm-1 -OH group, 2918 cm-1 CH , 1647 cm-1 group C = O, 1265cm-1 CO group and 894 cm-1 is CH that is the Na.CMC the synthesis.

Abstract

Patch formulation studies have been conducted mulberry leaf extract with various concentrations of polyvinyl pirilidon and ethyl cellulose (EC) obtain a patch with good physical characteristics. Physical evaluation includes weight, thickness, and folding endurance, loss on drying and moisture uptake. The results showed that the optimum formula by solvent evaporation method is F3 (PVP : EC = 200 : 400) with average weight (0,76±0.006 g), resilience fold (> 200), thickness (0.411±0.039 cm), drying shrinkage (38.12 > 9.29 ) and absorption (29.06 > 9.79 ).

Abstract

Sukrosa dalam sediaan sabun transparan adalah sebagai bahan transparansi dan sebagai humektan yang dapat melembabkan kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas kelembaban sabun transparan ekstrak Sargassum cristaefolium C. Agardh pada kulit dengan variasi konsentrasi sukrosa (20%, 25%, 30%, dan 25%) serta menentukan komposisi terbaik sabun yang memiliki transparansi dan kelembaban yang tinggi . Penelitian ini melibatkan 11 orang panelis wanita yang berusia 20-35 tahun, kelembaban kulit diukur dengan Skin analyzer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah penggunaan hari kelima, kadar kelembaban kulit panelis dari 15-19% (kategori kulit kering) meningkat menjadi 30-50% (kategori normal). Semua formula memberikan efek melembabkan pada kulit namun tidak berbeda signifikan (p>0,05). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa F3 dengan konsentrasi sukrosa 30% adalah formula dengan komposisi terbaik karena memiliki transparansi tinggi dan memiliki efek melembabkan.

Abstract

Sinar matahari mengandung sinar ultraviolet (UV) yang dapat membahayakan kulit. Sinar UV ini dapat menimbulkan berbagai kelainan pada kulit seperti eritema, pigmentasi, penuan dini, kekeringan, keriput, bahkan menyebabkan kanker kulit. Sehingga diperlukan perlindungan baik secara fisik dengan menutupi tubuh misalnya menggunakan payung, topi, atau jaket dan secara kimia dengan menggunakan tabir surya. Telah dilakukan penelitian uji aktivitas tabir surya ekstrak ubi ungu secara spektrofotometri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh data mengenai aktivitas tabir surya ekstrak tersebut dengan parameter persentasi transmisi eritema, pigmentasi dan sun protection factor (SPF) pada panjang gelombang 292,5–372,5 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak ubi ungu pada konsentrasi 100 – 300 ppm sebagai suntan reguler, proteksi ekstra, dan tanning fast sedangkan pada konsentrasi 400ppm memiliki aktivitas sebagai tanning fast, sunblock; dan SPF proteksi sedang.

Abstract

The leaves of Clerodendrum minahassae Teijsm. & Binn. hasmany pharmacologica leffects as traditional medicine. Rawmaterialof traditional medicine should be standardized. Standardization of simplicia and ethanolic extract of C. minahassae leaves was performed to determine the standard parameters both of simplicia and extract. Determination ofquality standard extract include specific and non-specific parameters.The extract of C. minahassae obtained by maceration from C. minahassae leaves (C. minahassae folium) using ethanol with the acquisitionofrendement about 22%. The macroscopic obsevations showed that simplicia of C. minahassae leaves is greenish brown, egg-shaped, sharp edges, blunt stem, slippery surface, flat-brimmed, generally there are six pairs of pinnate bone leaves, the average leghth is 11,1 cm and the average width is 5,3 cm.The organoleptic of ethanolic extract is thick, brownish-black, has the distinctive smell and tastes bitter. Fragment identifiers of C. minahassae leaves such as crystalline calcium oxalate with stiloid shaped, file vessels with thickening ring, hair coverings conical and has a hair tip pointy, stomata with stone cell, the upper epidermis with stomata anomocytic types and lower epidermis with irregularly polygonal. Content of water-soluble compounds of simplicia is 19,932% and 52,096% of extract, while the content of ethanol-soluble compounds of simplicia is 11,776% and 35,108% of extract. The extract contains alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids and tannins​. Simplicia and extract, each containing ≤ 10% of water. Total ash content of simplicia is 27,783% and 12% of extract, while the acid insoluble ash content of simplicia is 4,242% and 2,518% of extract. The loss of drying of simplicia is 12,399% and 24,603% of extract. The density of extract is 1,055 g/ml. Total bacterial and fungal contamination of extract are qualified, with the values are 5.4 x 102 colonies/g and 5.0 x 102 colonies/g respectively.
