Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak metanol bunga brokoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica) dengan menggunakan metode DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) dan metode ABTS (2,2-Azinobis (3-etilbenzotiazolin)-6-asam sulfonat). Bunga brokoli diekstraksi secara maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut metanol.  Ekstrak bunga brokoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica) dibuat dalam berbagai konsentrasi dan diuji aktivitas antioksidannya. Pada metode DPPH diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 123,698 ppm dan IC50 vitamin C murni sebesar 3 ppm sedangkan pada metode ABTS diperoleh nilai IC50 sebesar 32,1292 ppm dan nilai IC50 vitamin C murni sebesar 6 ppm.

Abstract

Has conducted research of antioxidant activity from kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura Linn) using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil) and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power). Kersen leaves extracted by maceration using ethanol 70%. Phytochemical identification of kersen leaves contain phenolic, flavonoids and saponins compounds. The test results of antioxidant activity using DPPH method with series concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 ppm obtain IC50 value 6.8249 ug / ml. Testing of the ethanol extract of antioxidants obtained by FRAP method IC50 83,149 µM. Based on these data the ethanol extract of kersen leaves has good antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Endophytic fungi are fungi colonize internally plant tissue, without giving detrimental effect to the host plant. They act as symbiont, mediated plant resistance against biotic stress i.e. pests and diasease and abiotic stress such as drought and extreme of temperature. Endophytic fungi are one of the most creative groups of secondary metabolite producers that play important biological roles for human life. Fungi are among the most important groups of eukaryotic organisms that are well known for producing many novel metabolites which are directly used as drugs or function as lead structure for modification.Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is one of the genus species known to have secondary metabolite compound that can be used as an antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, antidiabetic, antihypertensive, hypolipidemic, fever, flu, cough, antiemetic and gastrointestinal disorders. This research aimed to determine antibacterial activity of Mulberry Fungi from the leaves against the bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Isolation of endophytic fungal carried by the direct isolation techniques. Isolates which produced as much as 3 isolates the MUR1, MUR2 and MUR3. Further isolates fermented using PDY medium and extracted using ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate extract qualitative test the activity against bacteria Escherechia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The result of the antibacteria activity, ethyl acetat extract from fermentation medium PDY of Mulbery (Morus alba L.) inhibited growth of Escherechia coli and Staphylococcus aureus at > 12 mm Keywords: Endophytic fungi, Mulberry (Morus alba L.), Antibiotic.

Abstract

This study used S. polycystum and T. deccurens were extracted with various solvents (n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol) to determine phytochemical screening and antioxidant activities. Extraction of samples by maceration method, antioxidant activity assay using the immersion method of DPPH (1,1-Diphenyl-2-picryl Hidrazil) measured absorption at a wavelength of 515 nm and compared with the control of antioxidant vitamin C. The results showed that antioxidant activity of the methanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane extract of S. polycystum have low antioxidant activity with the value IC50 340,06, 180,54, and 502,25 mg/mL. Methanol, ethyl acetate, n-hexane extracts of  T. deccurens have low antioxidant activity with value IC50 491,02, 411,80, and 502,7 mg/mL. This potential is lower than vitamin C IC50 value of 1,72 mg/mL.

Abstract

Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica L) is a plant thatis used as fodder. This plant contain a high cellulose content 96,7%, which can be used as the manufacture of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose. The purpose of this study to synthesize the carboxymethyl cellulose from the isolation of coarse grass (Imperata cylindrica L). Na.CMC of coarse grass (Imperata cylindrica L) obtained by alkalization of cellulose with sodium hydroxide in the solvent isopropyl alcohol in submitting etherification using sodium chloro acetate. Results of qualitative testing color identification with reactant molischshowed positive resuls, analysis formed muchilagform, a o white swelling, viscocity 8Cp, pH of 6 with a purity of 95.8%, flame test Na+ are marked with a yellow flame and FTIR results showed the wave number 3442 cm-1 -OH group, 2918 cm-1 CH , 1647 cm-1 group C = O, 1265cm-1 CO group and 894 cm-1 is CH that is the Na.CMC the synthesis.

Abstract

Jamblang (Syzygium cumini) merupakan salah satu buah lokal Indonesia. Semua bagian tanaman ini dapat digunakan untuk pengobatan salah satunya sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan potensi antioksidan dari beberapa ekstrak kulit batang jamblang dengan menggunakan kuarcetin sebagai pembanding. Kulit batang jamblang diekstraksi secara refluks dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol, etil asetat, dan n-heksan kemudian di uji potensi antioksidannya. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai IC50 ekstrak etanol kulit batang jamblang sebesar 164,3 ppm, ekstrak etil asetat kulit batang jamblang sebesar 237,7 ppm, ekstrak n-heksan kulit batang jamblang sebesar 5235,6 ppm. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol kulit batang jamblang memberikan aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih kuat jika dibandingkan dengan ekstrak lainnya. Namun hasil tersebut masih lebih kecil jika dibandingkan dengan kuarcetin dengan nilai IC50 4,57 ppm.

Abstract

Chitosan has the potential to be used as an antimicrobial agent, as it contains the enzyme lysozyme and aminopolisakarida groups which can inhibit the growth of microbes. Physical modification of chitosan in the form of nanoparticles add value to chitosan as an antimicrobial material. In this research, anti-acne cream was formulated by using nanoparticles chitosan with variations emulsifier  that are Novemer®, Span-Tween, and Viscolam®. The cream  then evaluated for physical stability include kriming volume, the thickness (viscosity), drops dispersed, and phase inversion before and after accelerated storage conditions. Then, test of antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne was performed. The results showed that the three creams were physically stable during storage. Formula cream with tween span emulsifier (FII) showed the greatest inhibition against Propionibacterium acne with a diameter of 13.46 mm zone of inhibition.

Abstract

Testing activity sun screen of several species from family Zingiberaceae with a spectrophotometric method have been. Study purpose is to obtain data on the sunscreen activity of ginger extract Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM and their combination with the parameters of % transmission of erythema, % transmission of pigmentation and SPF. The method used an experimental laboratory. Evaluation of the activity of ethanol extract of Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM made by maceration method using 70% ethanol. The test is based on the ability of the absorb the rays ultraviolet. Research carried out by the respective concentrations of ethanol extract of Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM of 200 ppm , 400 ppm , 600 ppm, 800 ppm and 1000 ppm. Based on percent transmission of erythema and percent transmission of pigmentation at a concentration of 1000 ppm, respectively ethanol extract Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var . Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM could be used as a sunscreen but still weak to be used as sunscreen ingredients. The result showed that combined Z. officinale var. Officinale, Z. officinale var. Rubrum and Zingiber zerumbet SM at a concentration of 500 ppm obtained percentage value of 1% transmission of erythema and 3,9% of pigmentatied transmission and categories as sunblock with SPF value is 50 protection.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or prevent oxidation reactions, which are the result of chemical reactions and metabolic processes that occur in the body. Enhalus acoroides is a type of seagrass found in Indonesian waters, generally living in sandy sediments with high bioturbation. Lamun has good nutrition and fiber so that it can be a source of food and medicine. The aim of this study was to examine the antioxidant activity of the seagrass extract Enhalus acoroides against ABTS radicals (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid). The results of the study of seagrass extract using ethanol solvents had a very strong antioxidant category ie 38,008 µg /ml, the smaller the absorbance value, the higher the inhibitory value in which the antioxidant activity of the extract is higher, but when compared with the routine compound control of 0.500 µg /ml, seagrass ethanol extract is still lower.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the biggest causes of death in the world, not least in Indonesia. Brown algae (T. decurrens Bory) is one of the marine organisms that can be used as a source of natural medicinal ingredients. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential cytotoxicity of extracts of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol from T. decurrens Bory against MCF-7 human breast cancer cells and H460 lung cancer cells. Samples were extracted using multilevel maceration methods using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol. Cytotoxicity activity was carried out by the MTT method (3- (4,5-dimethylthiazolyl-2) -2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide). The results showed that all extracts of T. decurrens Bory were potential as anticancer. Ethyl acetate extract can inhibit cancer cells at a concentration of 10 µg / mL with more than 50% cytotoxicity compared to other extracts, both against MCF-7 and H460 cells.
