Abstract

Life skills of students and teachers in the Province of West Nusa Tenggara, especially the island of Lombok is still low. Development of life skills is not optimal attention of government and education observers. Life Skills is a skill that must have to dare to face the problems of life and everyday life with a reasonable without feeling depressed, then proactively and creatively search for and find a solution so as to cope. Life skills can be developed through classroom learning, including learning physics. Physics should be viewed as a process and at the same time so that the product in physics learning two things must be taken into consideration in choosing a model of learning that the learning process can be both effective and efficient. Application of the learning cycle model of 5-E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) may be an alternative for teachers to achieve the expected learning goals. This model can facilitate active learning in exploratory activities through interaction with the teacher, as well as with other students. Thus, the application of the learning cycle model of 5-E in learning physics is expected to increase students' life skills

Abstract

This research is aimed to investigate, to describe and to elaborate the system of traditional knowledge of Sentani society in Papua. Research method is qualitative. The conduction of the research has been done in forms of interview, field observation, and bibliography study that to spent four months. Respondents were chosen purposively. Some findings on traditional knowledge that related to physics are about ethnophysics, and transportation. The most important finding is that the traditional knowledge has not been able to explain all natural phenomena, moreover scientifically. For example solar-eclipse, lightning as an incredible mystical phenomena.

Abstract

This study aims to develop problem-based learning  device in terms of  validity and student responses. Learning device was developed covering  the syllabus, lesson plans, fundamental of physics  textbook, exsperiment in fundamental physics , worksheets, and learning outcome test. The expected benefits of this research is the problem-based learning tools that can be used as an alternative to the lecturer of the fundamental of physics learning in FKIP  Mataram of University.This refers to the process of developing 4D models (define, design, develop, disseminate). The results validate the lecturer learning device consisting of a syllabus, lesson plans, fundamental of physics  textbook, experiment in fundamental physics , worksheets, and learning outcome test successivelyobtained scores of 2.65, 2.68, 3.30, 3.25, 2.285 and 3.14 are decent categorized. Student learning outcomes is seen from indicators of student achievement of cognitive learning and experiment processes value  row gets a percentage of 76.80%  and 78.50%, while the scientific attitude  students which amounted  average value of 76.42 and scientific attitude  students can be interpreted good categorized. The positive student responses which amounted to 85.90%. From the validation results, student learning outcomes and student responses can be interpreted decent  device.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental aims to finding out the impact of problem-based learning model assist with interactive simulation of the results of learning physics of grade VIII SMPN 1 Pujut in academic year 2013/2014. The design of this research used of non-equivalent control group design, while the sampling technique used purposive sampling. The population of  this research is students of grade VIII SMPN 1 Pujut with 227 students, while the sampling are the students of grade VIII 1 as the experimental group and the students of grade VIII 6 as control group. The data result studying analyzed by t-test two tail using formulas polled variance. Obtain values thint = 2,519 and ttable =2,013 on degree of free is 47 with 5% significant degree. Because  thint > ttable ,then  Ho will be rejected and Ha will be accepted which indicates that there is significant the impact of problem-based learning model assist with interactive simulation of the results of learning physics grade VIII SMPN 1 Pujut in academic year 2013/2014.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect learning multimedia on students’ ability to answer problems on heat concepts, especially in the analysis of the of energy in water form change. The study was conducted in class X of SMAN 3 Mataram. Total number of sample was 80 students, divided into two classes: 42 students in Experimental class taught using interactive learningmultimedia, and 38 student in control class taught without interactive learningmultimedia. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results showed that the ability of the students working on the energy analysis is better in the experimental class than the control class (α = 0.05; sig = 0.03).

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) the influence of quantum and conventional learning model on the learning achievement of quantum physics course, (2) the influence of student achievement motivation on learning achievement of quantum physics course, and (3) the interaction between the quantum and conventional learning model with achievement motivation students' learning achievement of quantum physics course. This type of research is quasi experiment with forms of research design is a 2x2 factorial design. The population in this study were all students of physical education in the school year 2011/2012 VI semester FKIP Mataram University with a sampling technique that random sampling. There are two samples of the study as control and experimental class. The control class given conventional learning while the experimental class was given treatment with quantum learning model. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) of two different cell. Where, (1) there is the influence of quantum and conventional learning model on the learning achievement of quantum physics course that is obtained significance level (0.047) < (0.05), (2) there is influence student achievement motivation high and low categories of the learning achievement of courses quantum physics is obtained significance level (0.000) < (0.05), and (3) there is no interaction between the quantum and conventional learning model with student achievement motivation on learning achievement of quantum physics course that is obtained significance level (0.190) > (0, 05).

Abstract

The discussion results of Fundamental Physics I lecturing, especially the 1st Newton law about movement, law of Lenz, electromagnetic induction, and law of Bernoulli about pressure of flowing fluid show that in the concepts implicitly there is an action-reaction relation between objects. We could analogize these phenomena to the interaction between human being, in the contex of learning we can analogize it to the interaction between educator and students. When the interaction between objects softly occurs (“persuasive”) the reaction is not emerge but when it happen quictly the reaction emerges and it against the change caused by the action. The implementation of the discussion of Physics concept and analogy approach usefull to implant positive characters to the students. The positive characters include honesty, responsibility, respect, empaty, self restraint, modesty, patient, no despondently, diligent, love, and good samaritan, also make the values to be a habit in the mind, feeling, and in action.

Abstract

There are many abstract concepts in physics. This raises its own difficulties in learning physics. The difficulty in teaching abstract concepts can be solved using computer technology. Computer technology presents opportunities for learning abstract concepts, such as through the use of interactive multimedia in learning physics. In this study has developed an interactive multimedia on the concept of electricity. This study aims to examine the impact of the use of interactive multimedia on student mastery of the concept of electricity. The results showed an increase in mastery of concepts in both classes. The highest increase occurred in the concept of Coulomb's law, which is 68.6% (experimental group) and 48% (control group). Mastery electric concept experimental group is greater than the control group, indicates that interactive multimedia effective in supporting the process of learning physics.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the applying of problem-based learning with computer simulation toward the critical thinking skills of pre-service physics teachers. This is necessary because critical thinking skills do not develop without the explicit and deliberate effort invested in its development. The combination with computer simulations are considered essential to overcome the difficulties learn abstract concepts in physics. This is research an experimental research. The subjects of this study were students at the Department of Physics Education, FPMIPA IKIP Mataram. The research instruments are test of critical thinking skills and questionnaire. The results showed a significant difference between students' critical thinking skills experimental class and control class, where an increase in the experimental class is higher than the control class. Students also gave a positive response to a given model.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the integrated MTDKBI through cooperative strategies for students’scientific attitude. The study used quasi-experiment method with a 2x2 factorial design research. The population was 380 students of grade 9 SMPN 10 Mataram whose spread.at 10 classes. The sample was 142 students divided into 4 classes with cluster random sampling technique. The research instruments such as questionnaires of scientific attitude which was given at the beginning and the end of the study. The data were analyzed with two-way Ancova. The results showed that (1) the students who learned using MTDKBI significantly different at the aspect of scientific attitude than students who learned with non MTDKBI, (2) students who learn through STAD cooperative strategy significantly different at the aspect of scientific attitude than students who learn with NHT type, (3) there is an interaction effect between the type of media with cooperative strategies for students' scientific attitude
