Abstract

Our girls today faced with a condition that is very susceptible to the risk of child marriage age. The expectation that the child marriage be stopped immediately hit by a thick wall of patriarchal culture intertwined with the social structure, economic and political. Conditions of poverty, difficult geographical location, access to education are minimals, and the lack of willingness of policy makers have worsened the child’s age. But amid all the complexity of the state of marriage age of the child, there is a good practice the elimination of child marriage as in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Marriage age is quite high in some areas, such as in sub district in Gedangsari Gunung Kidul has made policy makers together with the residents making network-based integration MoU (the collective agreement) at the district level for the elimination of child marriages. This agreement contains cooperation of various institutions, both on the level of schools, villages, health centers, law enforcement officers, to institute the service of women in the sub-district level to end the marriage age of the child. Attempts to move along this done because all people agreed that the root causes of child marriage is not a single, then the handle should give space to all parties to move together.

Abstract

Even after the rise of Indonesian feminist film directors by the likes of Nia Dinata, Mira Lesmana, Mouly Surya, Nan T Achnas and Lola Amaria, the Indonesian moviegoers still flocked into badly written teenage romance dramas. This paper interrogates the way romance and femininities have been shaped within the cinematic representation in London Love Story 2, Promise and Dear Nathan. It is concluded that the Indonesian romance teenage dramas are entrenched with masculine power and dominance spectacles in which the feminine heroines have been treated as passive objects of desire whose agency and subjectivities are being stripped away. Using feminist literature on post-feminist romance cinema, the heroines in these films have mostly been constructed as independent, smart and seemingly agentive at first, but nevertheless pursued romantic, traditional, heterosexual relationships saturated with masculinecontrol and dominance. This paper shows that post-feminist popular culture has transpired globally and morphed into transnational post-feminism that influenced the production and consumption of such text in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to understand the role of Indonesian Christian women in the public sphere, especially in the realm of politics. This article aims to reconstruct the role of Israelite women who lived in pre-monarchic Israel using sociological, social science, anthropological, and archeological methods. The result of my analysis shows that the demands of war that occurred continuously in the territory of ancient Israel and the opening of new land in the mountainous regions of Israel required the active participation of women to not only be involved in the reproduction but also the production–an activity that belonged to male members of the family. This phenomenon creates a balance in the division of labor between men and women which of course increased the status of women in society. The result of this reconstruction that underlines the active role of women in the public sphere in the world of ancient Israel becomes an important model for Christian women in Indonesia today to take an active role in the public sphere, especially in politics.

Abstract

This paper examines the legislation process of Proposed Regional Regulation on Domestic Workers (Raperda PRT) in DIY. The regional regulation becomes important because domestic workers have a significant role for working family and for those who are busy with public life. This resulted in an incresed demand for this proffesion every year. Unfortunately, the absence of governing regulation for this profession lead to the use of a very unclear and messy working relationship practice by the DW (PRT)and the customer (service user). The violation of employment relationship becomes regular occurance, as well as the violence experienced by domestic workers, whether physical, psychological, economic, sexual or social. In Yogyakarta, the Domestic Workers Protection Network (JPPRT) of DIY has suggested that the various type of violence experienced by domestic workers can not be separated from the absence of regulationthat governing the working relation of domestic workers and service user. Against this background JPPRT decided to pioneer and propose a draft for regional regulation for domestic workers in The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
