Abstract

Our everyday activities cannot be separated from the use of furniture, especially the indoor activities. We use a bed to sleep, sitting in a chair, or other activities. Various designs of furniture made to adapt human activities. But have we ever thought about the materials used for the furniture? Wood is a common material used in furniture. This article is made to encourage designers being responsible towards living environment. They are charged to love nature and realize that their participation in defining natural preservation is huge. Design is the starter of eco living and all designed stuffs and then well produced from choosing material until its effects in the future, because everything will directly affect ourselves and environment.

Abstract

Letters or widely known in the designer community design as typography, is the most essential design element, because it has a double function, as both the language of verbal and also visual language. Its presence in the design world often dominates the portion of the design. It is also often evident in many information media, and capable of persuading its audience through the enchanting beauty (form driven), both types of letter itself and its well-ordered structure, designed by a designer. This also occur in food and beverage packaging, which when people make very careful decisions, since it involves preferences or consumption of their own choice, is an added value if their favorite food/drink is packed with a cool typography design.

Abstract

This research is to test variable relations of student’s perception about class climate with student orientation variables to be self-efficacy variable as a controller variable. There are four types of purpose orientation, that are task orientation, self-enhancing ego orientation, self-defeating ego orientation, and work avoidance orientation. Each purpose orientation will direct students into specific learning behavior that will determine their learning result. The subjects of this research will be students in SMP Madania Bogor. This research uses calculation of partial correlation, double regression, and t-test.

Abstract

Underachiever students are a group of students that are existed in our surrounding. The purpose of parents, teachers, and people in general are to develop a nation. Underachiever students have chances to be this nation’s breadwinner. They will need help from other people, in the right way and time. Main factors that influenced underachievers are motivation and emotional problems. Strategies needed are no farer than these main factors, but there should be more preparations.

Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to examine several aspects that affected the development history of Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, in terms of function, space program and building design. Another thing is to obtain complete data and analyze the development of GKJ based on the historical period. This study will described in terms of history and different functions of building since period of British occupation in Batavia, the arrival of the Dutch until the present era. Besides, it will review the phenomenon of changes in building related to ecology, environment, and current technology equipments. This research is based on data literartures and interviews with the GKJ. In conclusion, this study will discuss the existence of GKJ in relation to local identity, supporting factors of the changes, development and the existence of current GKJ conditions.

Abstract

Mimesis is the representation of reality. This writing focuses on the analysis of three different representations of heaven in a short story The Preacher and His Lover by Yukio Mishima. The first representation is from the narrator’s interpretation, stressing on the existence of an ideal heaven in common people’s point of view, employing this worldly measurement in describing the ideal heaven. The second representation comes from Great Preacher with his view that the represented heaven is a place where he can enjoy the earthly and bodily enjoyment that he avoids in this world. And lastly, the representation from the Great Concubine who puts forward a contradictory (especially with the Great Preacher) point of view that the dreamed heaven is not at all the enjoyment that people experience in this world.

Abstract

Majapahit is believed to be a great civilization that once have been victorious in our archipelago. Although much is known about the Majapahit, but it turns out more obscure facts have not been revealed and need to be explored in more depth. One is how the people of Majapahit live their life, how they built the civilization by building houses and how they manage their social environment. Using CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) Technology a "replica" Majapahit life can be built by combining the findings of archaeological and engineering-based digital animation 3d.

Abstract

Dialect defined as a language variation in which it is different in pronunciation, structure and vocabularies from the certain standard culture and language becomes an interesting issue in teaching Bahasa Indonesia for non-native Indonesian. It is because every part of Indonesia where Bahasa Indonesia is used as the spoken language has different dialect. Non Bahasa Indonesia speakers learning Bahasa Indonesia is determined to pass a certain level when they are able to communicate sucesfully in Bahasa Indonesia with its native speakers. However, in reality some of them face some problems to communicate directly with native speaker since the native speakers use certain dialects which is different from the standard Bahasa Indonesia. Non-native Bahasa Indonesia learners do not understand because the different words, different grammar and abbreviations. This paper is discussing about the advantages and disadvantages teaching dialect in teaching Bahasa Indonesia for Bahasa Indonesia learners and some suggestions whether it is necessary to be taught in teaching Bahasa Indonesia for foreigners or not.

Abstract

This reseach was conducted to learn the connection between children’s perception toward parents harmonic relationship and children independence on junior high school in Bekasi. The research planning is correlation with samples of 100 active students in extracurricular program. The data is gathered in cluster random sampling technique using questionnaire. This research uses 2 instruments, that are parents harmony scale and children’s independence scale. Next, data analysis is done to 100 research respondents using correlation statistic calculation of Product Moment Pearson in significancy rate 0,05 which entered into computer program of SPSS 15.0 for Windows. From data analysis came statistic descriptive which shows that children’s perception is between 6,00-8,00 score, means that according to the children, parents’ relationships are quite harmony to harmonious. Meanwhile, children’s perception about parents’ harmonious relationship has 5,80-8,00 score; which concluded that there is connection between children’s perception about parents’ harmonious relationship with children’s independency at school, where the more harmony the parents are the more independent the children are.

Abstract

 Limited signage facilities in Syahdan Campus of Binus University, has often been the cause of the disruption of the activities of the users who are unfamiliar with the room layout in the building. Where in this case teaching and learning activities are only one of the activities conducted there,  and it has to be considered that users are not only from among the faculty and students only, as regular users, but also visitors and guests as incidental users. Common problems in finding rooms that they have to go to, is usually only solved by asking someone else. Design of an effective, communicative, applicative and integrated sign system, is considered to be a solution to this problem.
