With the advanced technology in this era, everybody must be quite familiar with the use of camera to take pictures, with different types of SLR camera or pocket camera, digital or manual, with very economic pricing to the most expensive ones, and even the camera which has become one of the features in cell phone. Eventhough there is a very easy access to photography, if one photographer does it without enough knowledge and technique of good photography, sometimes he will not be satisfied with the results. It will be best if a photographer understands a bit of the theories, so he can anticipate any problems which are sometimes caused by the limited features in some not so advanced cameras. And with several tips and tricks of the basic understanding in photography, he will be able to avoid such issues.

Nowadays advertising is a field that is progressing rapidly and is quite popular majors marked by numerous educational institutions both private and the country that opened specialization advertising. One of the positions in the field of advertising that quite popular is Art Director. The skill of art directing is a bit much has been represented in the department of Visual Communication Design or Graphic design. But it is sometimes still confused between the duties and role of an art director and a graphic designer. This article gives a general overview of what is meant by Art Director as well as roles and duties.

Mimesis is the representation of reality. This writing focuses on the analysis of three different representations of heaven in a short story The Preacher and His Lover by Yukio Mishima. The first representation is from the narrator’s interpretation, stressing on the existence of an ideal heaven in common people’s point of view, employing this worldly measurement in describing the ideal heaven. The second representation comes from Great Preacher with his view that the represented heaven is a place where he can enjoy the earthly and bodily enjoyment that he avoids in this world. And lastly, the representation from the Great Concubine who puts forward a contradictory (especially with the Great Preacher) point of view that the dreamed heaven is not at all the enjoyment that people experience in this world.

Shadow puppet (wayang) is a fine culture heritage; the sublimity of philosophy and its beauty of inlay and decoration already get its world acknowledgement. Wayang is a shadow of out own life, from which we get picture of life in the world and after world. Eventhough its presence now is defeated by modern entertainment, its elegance done by the beauty of graphic sculpture brings its own inspiration to sculpturers and designers to make it as a foundation in design masterpieces toward Indonesian culture, especially Javanese culture.

Shuujoshi is a particle in the end of a sentence which shows speaker’s feeling and influence listener’s. Shuujoshi ne and yo have meaning differences as functional distinction that make the two articles divided into each functionalization. Using shuujoshi ne and yo is related with speaker’s consideration towards information of listener. It is noted that Shuujoshi ne, used by speaker when he has the same perception with listener. Meanwhile, using shuujoshi yo happens when there is different statements from speaker and listener’s perception. Besides, there is also meaning differences among shuujoshi ne and the like, and also among shuujoshi yo and the like. Therefore, when learners of Japanese language learn about shuujushi ne and yo, they will not rely on text books only.

Arts and craft products are now beginning to be produced by many home industries such as sewing patchwork application products. But the lack of knowledge of art, design and product marketing in this industry making products become less competitive and provide income earning less than the maximum. Besides, home industry players sometimes do not have the high endurance and sustainability in business. As one of the national strategic issues, the arts, crafts and creative industries get serious attention from the government. It is expected with the opening horizons of knowledge in art, design and product marketing in the area of sew patchwork application craft (which is use the waste fabric) will impact the development of entrepreneurship opportunities and support many home industries entrepreneur from local micro become sustainable macro business. This action will also support to further explore the various culture of Indonesian arts, crafts and other creative industries became more creative, innovative and competitive by using waste materials that are environmentally friendly.

Virtual world is now a mainstay many people promote themselves, goods, or their organizations. What is displayed in the virtual world associated with the role of a design is an interesting site and invites visitors to read and understand the message that the site owners want to convey. The design that attract not only in terms of its contents are complete but also in terms of appearance. Japanese Business Correspondence is a course that is given by 7 Japanese language study institutions all around Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi). Each institution has their own uniqueness which can be seen in course unit composition. The research method used in this research is survey. The result of this research is that most institutions teach the general correspondence rather than business correspondence. It is also found that there are 2 institutions having uniqueness compared with the other five institutions. The two institutions are STBA LIA and BINUS University. The speciality of STBA LIA is the subject related to verbal correspondence. Meanwhile, BINUS University is more specialized in email-format correspondence.

When a brand will communicate with people through visual media, then a visual communication designer will act as the sender in meaningful visual. A vehicle product assurance, Autocillin, will launch its brand; therefore it needs to presence visual identity of Autocillin, which is able to change people’s perception about assurance and also to represent brand image according to its ideals and hopes with its philosophy. Research method uses theory approach of semiotic theory from Peirce with its developing on icon, index and symbol. It also uses semiotic theory from Charles Morris of its semiotic processes: syntax, semantic, and pragmatic; and Roland Barthes approach of semiotic analysis towards design. It will be concluded that through visual identity, Autocillin could answer needs in communicating unprecedented experience of its consumers and change people’s perception of vehicle assurance. Through sign approach, Autocillin is ready to interact and compete with other brands.
