Abstract

Currently, the role of women has shifted from traditional to modern roles. From just having a traditional role to bear children and take care of the household, women now have a social role which can be a career in various areas of life with higher education are supported. The role of a woman when they entered the stage of marriage seems to be so complex, when different interests collide. The method used in this study is qualitative, while the approach is phenomenology. In general, qualitative research is the process of research to understand the phenomenon, based on a tradition of research with the typical method, with the object of society's problems. There are five motives that make a career woman pursue her careeer, those are helping their husband to fulfill household living cost, apply knowledge, socialization, have their own income, and self-actualization. Having a career for career women is a gift from God and the struggle and sacrifice to support life in the form of work and creativity that benefit others. Having family for career women is a priceless gift from God in a river of happiness therefore becoming part of a family must be maintained carefully. Communicating for career women, is a real form of compassion, caring, and love to keep the marriage intact. Communicating between mother and child for career women is a real form of love and care in teaching and educating children to maintain familiarity with the child.

Abstract

ASEAN Free Trade will be started in 2015 and at that time global competition, especially between the countries of ASEAN would be more competititive. In ASEAN free trade area, every country in ASEAN could not simply disallow the incoming of foreign workers. Companies will be filled by workers from various countries, especially workers from ASEAN countries. Not only the government should prepare everything to face the ASEAN Free Trade, but also the working-age individuals need to prepare themselves to get involve in this competition. Preparation should be done by an individual in addition to being competent in his field, an individual also must have an adequate understanding of cultural diversity and its impact on a person's personality as well as how to deal with cultural diversity and challenges. Therefore, it takes a certain individual to the character to be able to work together with people with different cultures. This article was prepared based on need, using empirical observations and experience, as well as library research to answer all the problems that will confront every individual working age in the era of ASEAN Free Trade.

Abstract

Individual’s performance is influenced by various factors, as: motivation, competency, environment, and technology. High working motivation is expected to improve performance in the organization. It needs various planned and systematic techniques to improve the motivation to be effective. Based on motivation theories, motivation is the underlying reason for an individual to do something. Individuals who have high motivation might mean that they have reasonable cause to achieve the expected performance. In contrast, individuals with low motivation certainly cannot contribute optimally for towards their performance.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is transactional and two-way direction. Therefore active listening skills play a key role in interpersonal communication. These active listening skills can have a positive impact on communication and at the same time creating a better relationship. So it is very useful to improve the skills of active listening. This paper intends to reveal the important role of active listening skills in interpersonal communication, identifying the challenges that exist within it both internally and externally as well as indicate the action that needs to be developed to improve these skills.

Article discusses how character educators in universities meet the challenges of character education in college. This article describes how the character educators in college should be educators who motivate and inspire. It is as a response to the challenges that the characters have already been formed in the students themselves. Article describes contemplation, principles, and patterns to be the educators of character who motivate and inspire character.

Abstract

Various ornament of Indonesian people comes from the ethnic groups from all over the archipelago. As a tangible cultural ornament has a specific purpose and it does not change throughout the ages. Bali is one of the ethnic group in archipelago that has beautiful decorative art and one of the most popular tourism destination in Indonesia. Bali’s ornament generally seen as decorative carving on the column, window or even in door. The beauty of Bali is not only as an inspiration for their colors and sculpture but also the variety of forms that have been simplified in the ornament. Moreover, floral & fauna forms are easy to apply as an interior element in modern buildings. Generally the value of these ornament has a specific purpose related to the cultural and social custom in Bali people. So that the application need to consider more about the purpose of the symbol of the ornament.

Abstract

Article functioned as a preliminary study for the research on plagiarism happened in student’s thesis S1 in Bina Nusantara University and how to overcome this cases by a prevention procedure approved by the students, lecturers, departments, and other supporting units. The preliminary study was done by library research, finding some plagiarism cases, model, the way to prevent the case, and the sanction and punishment related to plagiarism. Results of this library research used for compiling questionnaire that will be contributed to students, thesis advisors, thesis judges, and the departments to get the real condition of plagiarism practices, prevention actions, and some input to support the next research.
