Abstract

Tagmemic analysis is a comprehensive language analysis introduced by Prof. Kenneth L. Pike and Evelyn G. Pike from the Summer Institute of Linguistic, USA. This analysis enables linguists to study a language, especially the one which has not been studied before, in a more comprehensive manner. This study attempts to reveal functional slots that be filled by finite verb tagmas in English. The data for this study were taken from various published printed media which have high standard English. Ten different sentences were selected to be analyzed using Tagmemic analysis. Slot-role and four-cell analysis were conducted in this study. The result of analysis shows that Predicate Slot in English must be filled by finite verb tagmas. As the predicate is the essential or obligatory element in a clause construction, the ability to identify the occurrence of finite verb tagmas in English is compulsory. Finite verbs tagmas have different roles depending on the type of clauses. Tagmemes following the Predicate slots also vary depending on the transitivity of the finite verbs.

Abstract

The reality of the world is characterized by a cheesy seduction of attraction (temptation) that is very tempting every human. Temptations are full of charm, interesting, and contain a tremendous magnetism. Among the existing seductions, the appeal of power, sex, and wealth are three types of temptations that most often attract human attention. When a man drowned to follow the temptations, sooner or later he will experience individual and social destruction. Human tends to be selfish, hedonistic, and power abusive. These human’s actions are away from the principles of ethical-spiritual. A psycho-philosophical perspective is used as an entry point to understand the temptations referred, and with ethical-spiritual paradigm as a solution to resolve them. Humans are expected to be more mature in dealing with the temptations elegantly, and to wisely and ethically live life in dignity as spiritual beings.

Besides, audience is smarter and more appreciative towards quality of visual appearance in several modern communication media. Film poster of Sang Pemimpi is a case reflection of general digital in visual communication work that has gap among communication product content according to the brand of the film. Photography element composition is melted with bondless pile among the objects. Logical photography as bonding bridge of visual logic is weak in execution; where we could see it has less digital process commercial market need with the supporting resources.

Abstract

Jacques Derida is a phenomenal philosopher through his philosophy of deconstruction theory. Derida showed systematically the death of structuralism. His speech shocked the world of academics in France and almost all of America and Europe. Deconstruction is a new way of reading the text, by shifting the core of a text to the side, and put the idea on the edge (the unnoticed, hidden ideas) to the center or importance. Derida rejected dichotomous, binary opposition, bipolarity, thinking model or ways of thinking that one is privileging and marginalizing other ideas. Derida thought the model that would proclaim democratic, open, and dynamic diversity that would make room for multiple interpretations of meaning or open horizon that tolerate differences in interpretation of a text. What was conceptualized by Derida is found legitimacy in practical adequacy in the figure of Pope Francis, the Catholic Church's highest leader. Francis shows a deconstructive way to lead contemporary Catholic Church. Francis has opened a new, broader, and other meaning in looking the praxis of the Church. He does not prioritize elitist lifestyle, yet puts a simple and frugal lifestyle. He changes conservative theology into progressive-liberal theology. He realized Church needs not theology but a living testimony of a good, caring, generous, compassion life that does not use religion for immoral behavior, dehumanization, and corruption. Derida did philosophical deconstruction, Francis did spiritual-leadership deconstruction. What unites both of them is a word called "deconstruction".
