Abstract

This study analyzes and evaluates materials management processes running on a consumer goods company to find gaps between the needs of users and the SAP system used. This study aims to provide solutions and recommendations on the gap and to identify possible emerging risks. Analysis uses fit/gap Analysis. Itdescribes the evaluation results of the functions of SAP management material module used by the company. Therefore, we can identify what functions are not used optimally. Meanwhile, risk analysis method identifies the risks that can arise if the recommendations are not implemented. The results obtained from this study are recommendations and solutions that can be used by company to use SAP system function more optimally and in accordance with user?s needs. The conclusions that can be drawn is that the company must optimize the use of SAP system functions that have been implemented so that business processes can be run effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

Activities of office workers are most spent indoors. Unwittingly office buildings and enclosed spaces with air conditioning system usually do not have good ventilation and allow natural lighting. This condition may cause sick building syndrome (SBS). It is a collection health issues arising in relation to the time spent in a building and the air quality. A study was conducted through a literature review and field observations to obtain the impacts of SBS, as well as the prevention and solution of architectural aspects. From the results of the study, it was obtained that printer, computer, cigarette smoke, building materials, etc., gave rise to free radicals. Theair polluted by free radicals may cause medical problems such as headaches, eye irritation, quickly tired and weary body, runny nose, itchy throat, difficulty in concentrating, dry skin and dry cough. This research is expected to improve the quality of life of workers that can be started from the improved quality of health.

Abstract

Information technology is closely related to wide area networks. BINUS University pays much attention to the development of information technology. Yet, it has not applied all concepts of information technology. There are still activities carried out conventionally such as meeting activity. This is the main attraction of the authors to implement a new system. The purpose of this research is to analyze and design an e-meeting application of Computer Science Department of BINUS University. By using this application, user will be easyto conduct meeting without location barrier. This research is using analysis method on literacy study, as well as analysis on current meeting process through interview with expert and user to detect current problem. Design method usies software engineering concept, by Unified Modeling Language and Entity Relationship Diagram. UML notation explains the overview and the detail of e-meeting system. Relational database explains data structure used in this system. The result of this research is a development of e-meeting web based application to help improve meeting activity to be more effective and efficient. E-meeting application has many helpful features as used in regular meeting, as well as administration panel to control and manage user of this application.

Abstract

Smartphone has became an important instrument in modern society as it is used for entertainment and information searching except for communication. Concerning to this condition, it is needed to develop an application in order to improve smart phone functionality. The objective of this research is to create an application named E-Tour Guide as a tool for helping to plan and manage tourism activity equipped with image recognition feature. Image recognition method used is the Haar Classifier method. The feature is used to recognize historical objects. From the testing result done to 20 images sample, 85% accuracy is achieved for the image recognition feature.

Abstract

Plants are an important part of the cycle of life, but often overlooked by human existence. Lots of plants are on the verge of extinction so it is difficult to see their figures. Many efforts have been done by agencies to preserve the rare plant. With the 3-dimensional visualization that replaces the figures of the ungrowing plants, the authors intend to make a 3D prototype application of rare plant encyclopedia. The goal is to simplify the users, especially visitors of Plant Conservation Center Library to see 3-dimensional model of rare plants. Theapplication is created through several stages of research, including field observations and interviews, library research, and related researches. Vaughan multimedia development is implemented for system development which has 4 stages. First is planning by searching target audiences, and making design concept of and navigation concept. Next is design and production phase using 5 activities such as storyboard, flowchart, interface design, content search and production. Alpha and Beta testing is used as the testing phase. The last isthe multiplication and distribution phase of application deployment. This application can allow users to search for information about the world of plants. For further development of the process, the application is expected torun in a web-based media to be accessible by public.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are one of the pillars of Indonesian economy since they contribute to the national Gross Domestic Product in a large number. This study discusses some of the articles to determine the factors that influence the implementation of enterprise applications systems, business intelligence (BI) and cloud computing. SCM, ERP, CRM are applications that provide the benefits of efficiency and effectiveness to the organization that uses and implements them. SCM, ERP, CRM and Business Intelligence needs to be implemented to SMEs in order to improve their performance to compete efficiently and competitively. In addition, SMEs can try cloud computing services by implementing and integrating those applications, although obstacles may be considerable.

Abstract

ERP (enterprise resource planning) is an integrated information system to support the core business activities of an organization. ERP system will help the business unit related to data and information sharing, cost reduction, and improvement of business processes, which will result in an increase in the work (productivity) to become more efficient and effective. However, practically some organizations have problems on running ERP system, some even fail. Therefore, a strategy is needed to help the information systems project. Making project feasibility, project status and project monitoring ERP system can be used as a guide in the design of the ERP program applications to become more user friendly and suitable for the organization needs. The ERP system applied to a contracting company will increase productivity and achieve the level of effectiveness and efficiency of the company's operations. Through strategies in making project feasibility, and status monitoring with ERP system will provide a positive contribution to the development and objectives of the company, so as to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the processing operations.

Abstract

House, yard and neighborhood where a person lives affect his life. As legacy of our ancestors, the use of ancient Chinese knowledge of layouting (feng shui) and ancient Javanese knowledge are an approach of eastern culture that needs to be preserved since they are the result of thousand-year wise and sage ancestral experiences. The combination of Chinese and Javanese knowlege help find natural phenomena in relation to the search for life happiness in harmonious balance. Planning the layout of a building needs the study of the characteristics of local condition and prospective residents. Fengshui as one aspect of the approach to natural alignment is used to deal with unbalanced natural or environmental clues around us, which can affect people's lives physically and psychologically. This study aims to identify the relationship between theories and practices as well as to find out to what extent the benefits of feng shui in the design of architecture. The survey results are analyzed by existing ordinances to get evidentiary between theories and practies. Fengshui and ancient Javanese knowledge are some heritages of ancestors? thousands-year practice in the creating buildings which should be scientifically analyzed and integrated with the science of architecture so that the results obtained will be used in the development of architecture which is useful for occupants.

Abstract

The article explores the influence of database compression on processing time in generating online test results through experimental study. The study uses three level compressions consists of none, row and page in table used by online test system. The experiment shows that using page compression results in faster processing time and less space compared to none and row compression, and the optimal row for compression is between 1001 and 2000 rows. In summary, to reduce space usage and processing time, it is better to use page compression in user answer table of online test system and to group the participant in schedule so that users? answer will be between 1001 and 2000 rows.

Abstract

The research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the quality of sales information systems and user performance. The research method uses survey correlation techniques. Data are collected using a questionnaire previously calibrated to test the validity (product moment) and instrument reliability (Alpha Cronbach). The population used is users of information systems that are sales employees. There is a total sample of 20 people obtained, with Non-Probability Sampling that is saturated sampling / survey. Data analysis is performed using regression techniques of simple linear and simple correlation. Prior to analysis, test of analysis requirements need to be done, which are normality and homogeneity test. The results show acorrelation coefficient of 0:51 or 51% which means that there is a positive relationship on medium level between the Effectiveness of sales Information Systems with Users performance. The coefficient of determination is 0:26or 26%. This means that 26% of the variation in user performance can be explained by the variable Effectiveness of Sales Information Systems. Meanwhile, the remainder which is 74% consists of factors (variables), such as leadership style, work environment, salary and others. It can be concluded from this research that there is a positive correlation (relationship) at medium level which is significant between the Effectiveness of Sales Information System with User Performance, which means that the higher the level of effectiveness of Sales Information System is, the higher the level of user performance will be.
