Abstract

Methane gas is one of the greenhouse gases that is 21 times more potent than C02. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the quality of pollutants released by landfills around the world. The purpose of this research is to predict the amount of methane emitted from Muara Fajar 2 landfill in Pekanbaru city using Landfill Gas Emissions (LandGEM) model. AERMOD is used to model the distribution of pollutants generated by landfills. This model requires meteorological data such as temperature, temperature, wind direction, wind speed, radiation, air pressure, cloud cover, humidity and cloud base height. The meteorological parameters used in this study are meteorological data obtained from the Climate Data Store (CDS) of Pekanbaru city. The results showed that the peak of methane emissions produced by Muara Fajar 2 Landfill was 19,290 Mg/year in 2049. Pollutant dispersion showed that in 2022 Muara Fajar 2 Landfill produced a dispersion of 2447814 μg/m3. Methane gas pollutants produced by Muara Fajar 2 Landfill have no impact on the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The Topo Da'a Community is one of Central Sulawesi's Remote Traditional Communities (KAT). It is a community that usually lives from place to place in the mountain forests and settles outside the forest. Topo Da'a settlements are spread along the slopes of the Kamalisi mountains, both in the lowlands and highlands in the hills. Living in an area different from your place of origin influences the spatial pattern and form of residence—especially those who live in the lowlands near the city center. The research problem is what the settlement pattern of the community looked like when they moved and then settled and the factors that influenced these changes. This research aims to identify the spatial characteristics of the Topo Da'a settlement in the lowlands, especially those living near the city center, and the changes that occur. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The sources of information are the traditional Totua of Topo Da'a Kalora and Lekatu, community leaders, residents of Topo Da'a Kalora in Kalora Village and Lekatu in Tipo sub-district.The information units are physical and non-physical data obtained through interviews and participant observation. Meanwhile, the units of observation are housing units, residential patterns, and social, economic, and cultural activities. Sample collection and determination were carried out using purposive sampling using the snowball sampling technique. There were around 15 informants interviewed in this research. The analysis technique used is inductive analysis. Descriptive data is analyzed according to its content (content analysis). The research results changed from a grouping pattern based on family kin groups around Bantaya to groups oriented towards the road (linear pattern). Factors forming residential patterns are kinship ties, the philosophy of Topo Da'a, Bantaya, and shared interaction spaces.

Abstract

Management of fecal sludge from decentralized wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) is a challenge in settlements have limited access to centralized sludge treatment facilities. This paper reviewed the  selection and development strategy of integrated communal WWTP and fecal sludge treatment (SIPAL-LT).  The dominant factors influence sustainability of SIPAL-LT are treatment system, management, environment, and community characteristic. The development of  SIPAL-LT were determined  based on the sustainability profile of location study, technology selection, and development profile of SIPAL-LT. The selection and priority  of SIPAL-LT system were analyzed by hierarchical cluster, while  development strategies by quadrants method. The SIPAL-LT that feasible to develop is in a cluster that has characteristic, including domestic wastewater treated categorized low-medium pollution, existing user of communal WWTP more than 60% of capacity, fecal sludge  categorized light pollution, maintenance index categorized low- medium, overall effectiveness equipment  index of communal WWTP more than 60%, and participation stage categorized medium-high.  The best SIPAL-LT in study location has communal WWTP applied biofilter or digester anaerobic technology, while planning of fecal sludge treatment applied constructed wetland or sludge dyring bed combined by co-composting.

Abstract

Settlement patterns in rural areas will affect how the distribution of agricultural products is carried out. Efficient and strategic settlement patterns can affect the accessibility of farmers or producers to the market. This study aims to determine the settlement pattern in Suliki Sub-district and to determine the relationship between settlement patterns and marketing channels in Suliki Sub-district. This research was conducted from June to July 2023. This research is a quantitative descriptive research. This research was conducted using nearest neighbor analysis and linear regression techniques. The types of data used in this research are primary and secondary data. This is the first study conducted in Indonesia to prove that there is a relationship between settlement patterns and farmers' decisions to determine marketing channels. In previous research, it was stated that farmers' decisions to choose marketing channels are influenced by various factors, one of which is distance to the market and accessibility. These two things are indirectly formed due to the settlement pattern of the population. However, no one has clearly stated the relationship between settlement patterns and marketing channels. While in Wang's research (2021) it is stated that changes in settlement patterns occur due to the influence of several factors, one of these factors is the marketing system for agricultural products. Marketing channels are part of the marketing system. The initial hypothesis of this research is that there is a relationship between settlement patterns and marketing channels. The results of this study show that settlement patterns in Suliki Subdistrict are diverse, with two villages having a cluster pattern, three villages having a random pattern, and one village having a uniform pattern The results of this study also prove the truth of the initial hypothesis that settlement patterns have a relationship with marketing channels. This means that settlement patterns influence farmers in choosing marketing channels.

Abstract

Pasar Gunung Tua Village has a slum area of 55.64 Ha. Extensive slum areas can cause serious health, environmental, and socioeconomic problems. The socio-economic condition of slum dwellers is generally poor due to lack of functional skills, inadequate education and low income sources. This study aims to determine the level of slums based on house building in Pasar Gunung Tua Village and identify factors that contribute to the emergence of housing slums in Pasar Gunung Tua Village, Padang Lawas Utara Regency. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with descriptive statistical analysis techniques.  Sampling of each neighborhood uses the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling method, while the sampling technique used for assessing houses uses Random Sampling. The data analysis used is scoring analysis, crosstab, and chi-square test using SPSS software. Based on the scoring analysis of the assessment of housing conditions, there are variations in the level of slums, namely severe, moderate, and low slums. The variables that determine the slumliness of houses using the chi-square test show that the main differentiator is related to socioeconomic factors , namely education level, employment, and income level in the Pasar Gunung Tua Village
