Abstract

The implementation of entrepreneurial activities is an important element that must receive attention by Islamic boarding school managers so that they can become independent educational institutions. Its implementation must also be carried out systematically through the implementation of management functions. The problem of this study is as to why entrepreneurship needs to be developed in the Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) ; how is the practice of entrepreneurial management in building independence in the MBS. This study aims to describe the entrepreneurial management process as an effort to build independence in the MBS. This research method is qualitative method using a phenomenological approach. The results of this study show that: (1) since its inception in 2008, the MBS has made the entrepreneurship program part of the master plan for institutional development. (2) In the management of entrepreneurial activities, management functions are applied, namely from planning, organizing, implementing and supervising. (3) The planning function is implemented in work meeting activities held at the beginning of each academic year. (4) Organizing function is implemented through the transfer of authority from the director of the Islamic boarding school to the manager of the waqf center institution. (5) The implementation function in entrepreneurial activities at the MBS is described in three core activities, namely coordinating, delegating, and commanding. (6) the supervisory function is carried out incidentally by the Wkaf center manager and routinely by the head of the unit by evaluating individual work assessment report cards. (7) The existence of a business unit is capable of supporting the Islamic boarding school's economy and finances. In addition, Islamic boarding school is also capable of being independent as it can provide the required resources through their business units.

Abstract

Islamic religious groups, which carry radical ideologies, are not only targeting ordinary people. They also reach religious and public schools through the doctrine of Islamic Religious Education teachers. This study described the understanding and attitudes of PAI teachers in Majene regarding the diversity of religions, ethnicities, and minority groups; PAI teachers' knowledge of the relationship between Islam and the state; and the understanding of PAI teachers on defining the relationship between religion and local traditions. Using qualitative research, data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and literature studies. Then, it was analyzed through descriptive qualitative. Informants included PAI teachers in Majene, Principal of high schools, Principal of MAN Majene, Heads of the Ministry of Religion in Majene, students, and community leaders. The findings of this study: First, PAI teachers in Majene consider religious and ethnic diversity as sunnatullah, so no need to argue. In contrast, PAI teachers show a lack of respect towards minority Islamic religious groups, especially those often disrupt Indonesian harmony. Second, PAI teachers in Majene consider that the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia has reached the ideal point, and Pancasila has reflected the diversity of life in Indonesia. Therefore, PAI teachers disagree with religious groups who want to establish an Islamic state (khalifah). Third, the local religious traditions in Majene community are traces of the local scholars' legacy and Islam propagators in Mandar, which are not contradicting Islamic law. The religious understanding of PAI teachers in Majene is generally moderate.

Abstract

Departing from a thesis that states the development of communication technology encourages religious practices among Muslim communities in general, this paper seeks to discuss the fragmentation of religious authority among Muslim youth in Indonesia. The research was conducted through field research. The data were taken from interviews, observation, and documentation. This research showed that the fragmentation of religious authority among muslim youth is motivated by the proliferation of pengajian in Indonesian cities and the use of social media in disseminating da’wah. This research also revealed the involvement of the Indonesian largest da’wah communities that implement youth popular culture in performing pengajian by young ustadz idolized by the young generation. Besides, they also used online media, Youtube and Instagram, to promote their da’wah and even used it as a disseminating media. Hence, this opens up opportunities and facilitates the young generation to instantly gain religious insight without visiting an ustadz or ulama and without becoming a student in an Islamic boarding school

Abstract

The entry of new technology, the Internet, in people's lives demands adaptation by various groups, including students. With the use of the Internet by students, there will be changes in their lifestyle, which can affect their activities at school. This study focused on the intensity of internet use by students at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Al Islamiyah Depok City, which then tend to become addicted to the Internet. This study used interview techniques, and the respondents were the Principal of Madrasah, teachers, and students. Document studies were also used to analyze case reports on internet use recorded by Guidance Counseling (BK) teachers. This study also used a questionnaire distributed online to 340 students at MA Al-Islamiyah Depok City. This study found that 14% of students access the Internet for more than 9 hours, 29% of students feel uncomfortable if they are not connected to the Internet, and 54% of respondents feel anxious if they run out of the internet quota, so they will immediately buy the quota. The impact of using the Internet intensively is that students are lazy to do other activities, such as playing with peers and forget about their duties and responsibilities, particularly studying. In addition, even when studying in class, they still use cell phones for social media and listening to music.
