Abstract

The availability of high-resolution satellite images increases with advancements in remote sensing technology. These satellite images are used in various earth observation applications such as disaster management, military applications, weather forecasting, land use and cover, and many more. Satellite images have large volumes stored in memory devices. These satellite images are transmitted to the ground station for processing and analysis. In these cases, images are vulnerable to privacy issues. As technology advances, onboard processing of satellite images using intelligent systems processes the images faster. A model such as field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) is used in onboard processing to process satellite images. However, images are susceptible to faults induced by harsh radiation environments in space. Encryption is one of the most assured methods to provide privacy to satellite images. Hence, encryption of satellite images during processing, storage, and transmission is the present rising demand. There are various encryption methods implemented using algorithms such as advanced encryption standard (AES), homomorphic, advanced encryption standard-counter (AES-CTR), and chaotic maps. Concurrent processing and encryption of images using MapReduce with Hadoop Framework perform the task faster. The focus of this paper is a comparative study of the various encryption methods used in recent years.

Abstract

Precision agriculture (PA) is meant to automate the complete agricultural processes with the sole target of enhanced crop yield with reduced cost of operation. However, deployment of PA in internet of things (IoT) based architecture demands solutions towards addressing various challenges where most are related to proper and precise predictive management of agricultural data. In this perspective, it is noted that learning-based approaches have made some contributory success towards addressing different variants of issues in PA; however, such methods suffer from certain loopholes, primarily related to the non-inclusion of practical constraints of IoT infrastructure in PA and lack of emphasis towards bridging the trade-off between higher accuracy and computational burden that is eventually associated with this. This paper contributes towards highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of recent learning approaches and contributes towards novel findings.

Abstract

In recent years, the demand for wireless body area network (WBAN) technology has increased, driven by advancements in medical and healthcare applications. WBAN consists of small, low-power, and heterogeneous sensor devices attached inside or outside the body for continuous health monitoring. Medium access control (MAC) is pivotal in addressing WBAN challenges by ensuring reliability and energy efficiency under a dynamic environment caused by body movement. Therefore, to tackle these challenges, this paper presents a MAC protocol based on time division multiple access (TDMA) to enhance the WBAN performance. The proposed TDMA-MAC protocol employs a one-periodic scheduled-based access method to provide reliable data transmission while satisfying the WBAN requirements. The proposed protocol is compared to the IEEE 802.15.6 MAC, enhanced packet scheduling algorithm MAC (EPSA-MAC), and concurrent MAC (C-MAC) protocols based on the performance metrics of packet delivery ratio (PDR), network throughput, energy consumption, and average delay. The simulation results show that the TDMA-MAC protocol outperforms its competitors as it could achieve up to 98% PDR, 30% enhanced throughput, 30% energy optimization, and 20% improvement in average delay.

Abstract

Several association rule mining algorithms exist, and among them, Apriori is one of the most commonly used methods for extracting frequent item sets from vast databases and generating association rules to gain insights. In this research, we have applied a data mining technique to implement association rules and explore frequent item sets. Our study introduced a model that employs association rules to uncover associations between the foreign exchange market, the gold commodity, and the National Association of Securities Dealers automated quotations (NASDAQ). We suggested a method that used data mining to identify the good points of buying and selling in the foreign exchange market by utilizing technical indicators such as moving average convergence divergence (MACD) and the stochastic indicator to create association rules. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed model successfully generates strong association rules.

Abstract

Domain ontologies facilitate the organization, sharing, and reuse of subject areas. Building a software ontology is labor-intensive and time-consuming. In the process of obtaining a software ontology, it is required to analyze a huge number of scientific publications relevant to the software being modeled. The process of ontology replenishing with information from a huge number of scientific publications can be facilitated and accelerated through the use of lexical-syntactic patterns of ontological design. In this paper, we consider the possibility of automated construction of scientific subject area ontologies based on a heterogeneous patterns system of ontological design. This system includes ontological design patterns and is intended for ontology developers. System also includes automatically built lexical and syntactic patterns, which help to automatic replenishment of the ontology with information extracted from natural language texts.

Abstract

The emergence of the social internet of things (SIoT) network has brought forth distinctive challenges, including node mobility and varying densities, leading to congestion and hampered network efficiency. To overcome these issues, a congestion-free routing model for SIoT is proposed. This model combines the relationship-ordering points to identify the clustering structure (R-OPTICS) algorithm for intelligent node clustering based on relationships and ordering,along with a van emde boas tree (vEBT) for efficient path selection. R-OPTICS enables effective network management by clustering nodes appropriately. The model’s performance is evaluated using metrics such as Rand-Index (1.5765),Davies-Bouldin (-0.4305), and Silhouette Coefficient (1.71685) to assess average goodness values. vEBT identifies optimal paths between clusters, facilitating smart routing decisions. The primary objective of the model is to enhance network efficiency and alleviate congestion by intelligently routing data between clusters. Through extensive simulations, the proposed model outperforms existing routing methods, resulting in improved efficiency and congestion reduction. This congestion-free routing model presents a promising solution to address the unique challenges of SIoT networks, ensuring optimal performance and effective resource management.

Abstract

This research paper introduces an innovative modulation technique for controlling a 3-level flying capacitor multilevel inverter (FCMLI), aiming to streamline the modulation process in contrast to conventional methods. The proposed simplified modulation technique paves the way for more straightforward and efficient control of multilevel inverters, enabling their widespread adoption and integration into modern power electronic systems. Through the amalgamation of sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) with a high-frequency square wave pulse, this controlling technique attains energy equilibrium across the coupling capacitor. The modulation scheme incorporates a simplified switching pattern and a decreased count of voltage references, thereby simplifying the control algorithm.

Abstract

Currently, the halalness of a product may only be determined by the halal certificate or halal label displayed on the product packaging. Simply put, several halal-related issues, like cross-contamination, logistical issues, halal counterfeiting, global halal acceptance, and so forth, keep coming up. To address the numerous issues raised above, it is believed that a framework that can support worldwide halal provisions is necessary. The objective of this research is to create a blockchain smart contract framework for halal transparency, integrity, and traceability. Blockchain technology along with smart contracts can solve classic tracing problems including data leakage, manipulation, and invisible data. Organizational consistency across the halal production process and the availability of raw materials that adhere to sharia laws are two more basic challenges with halal certification that blockchain and smart contracts can resolve. The usual traceability problems, such as data explosion, material cross-contamination between halal and haram, and revelation of private information, can all be resolved by smart contracts that make use of on-chain, off-chain, and electronic product code information services (EPCIS).

Abstract

Given the urgent need for early detection of learning disorders such as dysgraphia, dyslexia, and dyscalculia in children, this study aimed to evaluate an expert system developed in Python to facilitate early diagnosis of these disorders. The background highlights the importance of providing parents, educators, and health professionals with an effective tool for early detection of these disorders. In 21 simulated cases, the system showed impressive performance with an accuracy rate of 95%, a precision of 100%, a sensitivity of 93%, and a specificity of 100%. Furthermore, the acceptability evaluation, conducted with 15 parents selected by convenience sampling, showed a high level of satisfaction, with an overall mean of 4.78 and a standard deviation of 0.45, indicating consistency in responses. In conclusion, this study confirms the effectiveness of the expert system in the early diagnosis of learning disabilities, providing parents, educators, and health professionals with a valuable tool. Despite these encouraging results, the need for additional research is recognized to address limitations and improve the external validity of the system to ensure its widespread utility and adaptability in real clinical settings.

Abstract

The elderly population continues to grow, this population has many chronic conditions, which is why they take multiple pills at the same time, this situation makes it difficult for them to take their medications at the appropriate time, which can cause health complications and even death. death. The objective of this research is to improve medication adherence using a medication dispenser that allows authenticating medication consumption accurately with a high level of usability. To do this, we implemented a dispenser with an alarm system that can be configured from a graphical interface, with internet of things (IoT) to remotely monitor the intake of pills and authenticate their consumption through artificial vision that will use the instant messaging system to inform the caregiver about the situation and finally measure the dispenser usability.
