Abstract

Robot navigation in unknown and dynamic environments may result in aimless wandering, corner traps and repetitive path loops. To address these issues, this paper presents the solution by comparing the standard deviation of the distance ranges of the obstacles appeared in the robot navigation path. For the similar obstacles, The standard deviations of distance range vectors, obtained from the laser range finder sensor of the robot at similar pose, are very close to each other. Therefore, the measurements of odometer sensor are also combined with the standard deviation to recognize the location of the obstacles. A novel algorithm, with obstacle detection feature, is presented for robot navigation in unknown and dynamic environments. The algorithm checks the similarity of the distance range vectors of the obstacles in the path and uses this information in combination with the odometer measurements to identify the obstacles and their locations. The experimental work is carried out using Gazebo simulator.

Abstract

High level of security is essential in wireless 5G communications. The last few years there has been an increase in research interest in the potential of the radio channel’s physical properties to provide communications security. These research efforts investigate fading, interference, and path diversity to develop security techniques for implementation in 5G New Radio (NR). In this paper, we propose a collaborative scheme to existing physical layer security schemes, taking advantage of the characteristics of the OFDM technique. An OFDM symbol includes the pilot subcarriers, typically essential for the pilot channel estimation process performed at the legitimate receiver. In this work we propose the positions of the subcarriers to change on every OFDM symbol following a probability distribution known only to the legitimate transmitter and legitimate receiver. An eavesdropper, does not have access to the information of the pilot subcarriers positions so, it performs blind channel estimation. The theoretical analysis is based on the information theoretic problem formulation and is confirmed by simulations. The performance metrics used are the secrecy capacity and the outage probability. The proposed scheme is very simple and robust, strengthening security in multimedia applications.

Abstract

This paper focused on studying an algorithm of earth fault location in the medium voltage distribution network. In power system network, most of the earth fault occurs is a single line to ground fault. A medium voltage distribution network with resistance earthing at the main substation and an earth fault attached along the distribution network is modeled in ATP Draw. The generated earth fault is simulated, and the voltage and current signal produced is recorded. The earth fault location algorithm is simulated and tested in MATLAB. The accuracy of the earth fault location algorithm is tested at several locations and fault resistances. A possible correction technique is explained to minimize the error. The results show an improvement fault location distance estimation with minimum error.

Abstract

The present paper addresses the equity issue among the secondary users in a cognitive radio network. After using a multi scheduler algorithm and a fairness metric namely Jain’s Equity Index; we enhance the equity between the secondary users’ transfer rates by 0.64 in average, relative to a previous work.

Abstract

Satellite image classification has a vital role for the extraction and analysis of the useful satellite image information. This paper comprises the study of the satellite images classification and Remote Sensing along with a brief overview of the previous studies that are proposed in this field. In this paper, the existing work has been explained utilizing the classification techniques on satellite images of Alwar region in India that covers decent land cover features like Vegetation, Water, Urban, Barren, and Rocky regions. The post- implementation of the classification algorithms, the classified image is obtained displaying different classes that are represented by different colours. Each feature is represented by a different colour and can be easily perceived from the image obtained after classification. The focus of this study is on enhancing the classification accuracy by using proper classifiers along with the novel feature extraction techniques and pre-processing steps. Work of different authors is being discussed in a tabular form defining the methods and outcomes of the respective studies.

Abstract

Generating sequences of characters using a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is a tried and tested method for creating unique and context aware words, and is fundamental in Natural Language Processing tasks. These type of Neural Networks can also be used a question-answering system. The main drawback of most of these systems is that they work from a factoid database of information, and when queried about new and current information, the responses are usually bleak. In this paper, the author proposes a novel approach to finding answer keywords from a given body of news text or headline, based on the query that was asked, where the query would be of the nature of current affairs or recent news, with the use of Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) variant of RNNs. Thus, this ensures that the answers provided are relevant to the content of query that was put forth.

Abstract

The early warning systems for flood management have been developed rapidly with the growth of technologies. These system help to alert people early with the used of Short Message Service (SMS) via Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). This paper presents a simple, portable and low cost of early warning system using Arduino board, which is used to control the whole system and GSM shields to send the data. System has been designed and implemented based on two components which is hardware and software. The model determines the water level using float switch sensors, then it analyzes the collected data and determine the type of danger present. The detected level is translated into an alert message and sent to the user. The GSM network is used to connect the overall system units via SMS.

Abstract

With the era of rapid technology in multimedia, the copyright protection is very important to preserve an ownership of multimedia data. This paper proposes an image watermarking scheme based on Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). The binary watermark is scrambled by Arnold transform before embedding watermark. Embedding locations are determined by using variance pixels. Selected blocks with the lowest variance pixels are transformed by IWT, thus the LL sub-band of 8×8 IWT is computed by using SVD. The orthogonal U matrix component of U3,1 and U4,1 are modified using certain rules by considering the watermark bits and an optimal threshold. This research reveals an optimal threshold value based on the trade-off between robustness and imperceptibility of watermarked image. In order to measure the watermarking performance, the proposed scheme is tested under various attacks. The experimental results indicate that our scheme achieves higher robustness than other scheme under different types of attack.

Abstract

This article discusses the Kalman observer based fault detection approach. The calculation of the residues can detect faults, but if there are noises, uncertainties become very important. To reduce the influence of these noises, a calculation of the instantaneous energy of the residues gave a better precision. The Kalman observer was used to estimate system performance and eliminate unknown noise and external disturbances. Instantaneous Power Calculation (IPCFD) based fault detection can detect potential sensor faults in hybrid systems. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated by the main application.

Abstract

Data warehouses represent collections of data organized to support a process of decision support, and provide an appropriate solution for managing large volumes of data. OLAP online analytics is a technology that complements data warehouses to make data usable and understandable by users, by providing tools for visualization, exploration, and navigation of data-cubes. On the other hand, data mining allows the extraction of knowledge from data with different methods of description, classification, explanation and prediction. As part of this work, we propose new ways to improve existing approaches in the process of decision support. In the continuity of the work treating the coupling between the online analysis and data mining to integrate prediction into OLAP, an approach based on automatic learning with Clustering is proposed in order to partition an initial data cube into dense sub-cubes that could serve as a learning set to build a prediction model. The technique of data mining by regression trees is then applied for each sub-cube to predict the value of a cell.
