A hard partition clustering algorithm assigns equally distant points to one of the clusters, where each datum has the probability to appear in simultaneous assignment to further clusters. The fuzzy cluster analysis assigns membership coefficients of data points which are equidistant between two clusters so the information directs have a place toward in excess of one cluster in the meantime. For a subset of CiteScore dataset, fuzzy clustering (fanny) and fuzzy c-means (fcm) algorithms were implemented to study the data points that lie equally distant from each other. Before analysis, clusterability of the dataset was evaluated with Hopkins statistic which resulted in 0.4371, a value < 0.5, indicating that the data is highly clusterable. The optimal clusters were determined using NbClust package, where it is evidenced that 9 various indices proposed 3 cluster solutions as best clusters. Further, appropriate value of fuzziness parameter m was evaluated to determine the distribution of membership values with variation in m from 1 to 2. Coefficient of variation (CV), also known as relative variability was evaluated to study the spread of data. The time complexity of fuzzy clustering (fanny) and fuzzy c-means algorithms were evaluated by keeping data points constant and varying number of clusters.

The generated electrical power in present days is not able to meet its end-user requirement as power demand is gradually increasing and expected to be increasing more in future days. In the power quality management, the parameters/factors like harmonic currents (HC) and reactive power (RP) yields the major issues in the power distribution units causing transformer heating, line losses, and machine vibration. To overcome these issues, several control mechanisms have been presented and implemented in recent past. The control algorithm based on synchronous reference frame (SRF) offers a better response by dividing the HC and RP. But the SRF based control algorithm requires better synchronization among the utility voltage and input current. To achieve this, the existing researches have used digital signal processing (DSP) and microcontroller, but these systems fail to provide better performance as they face issues like limited sampling time, less accuracy, and high computational complexity. Thus, to enhance the performance of active power filter (APF), we present an FPGA based approach. Also, to validate the performance of the proposed approach, we have used Xilinx 14.7 and Modelsim (6.3f) simulator and compared with other previous work. From the results analysis, it is found that the approach has good performance.

In order to suppress the surface waves excitation that are caused by thick substrate in a patch antenna, a mushroom-like EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) structure is used. Such structures enhance its characteristics of gain, directivity, bandwidth and efficiency. Firstly, we determined frequency band gap characteristics of mushroom like EBG unit cell value by using CST software with 3mm (0.06λo) for covering 6 GHz. The periodic arrangement of such mushroom-like EBG structures was not limited by any interconnecting microstrip lines. Four columns of EBGs shifted inwards to antenna edges by 0.3mm (0.06λo) or a gap of its design around the patch from the left and right sides. Different configurations were also examined in order to get the better improvement in antenna performance. The final design of this mushroom-like shifted periodic structure shows an effective increase in the directivity by 77%, gain by 108%, bandwidth by 29% and the efficiency by 20% for the antenna. This structure has diversified application possibility for wireless and satellite communications.

The study aimed to investigate and obtain model values of system unavailability and cost of energy not supplied in existing Nigerian township electricity distributions using a robust representative system. Outage data was obtained from system records for analysis using frequency distribution statistics to identify the causes of outages, and the contribution of each cause of outage to the overall system outage. The cost of energy not supplied (CENS) due to faults, was evaluated at a rate of NGN6 per kWHr. An analysis of the results shows that in a distribution feeder (and system) unavailability is mainly due to load shedding arising and faults; feeder unavailability involving load shedding is 0.25, and 0.1 without load shedding. Compared with standard UA value for well managed systems of less than or 0.01, the obtained unavailability values for a feeder show that downtime management was poor, and the corresponding cost – prohibitive. In view of the regular load shedding on the feeders and poor downtime management, this study recommends a need to obtain model loadflow perspective of township electricity distribution to ascertain load carrying capacity, and the application of distribution automation system or other effective strategies to mitigate downtime.

Phishing attacks are one of the slanting cyber-attacks that apply socially engineered messages that are imparted to individuals from expert hackers going for tricking clients to uncover their delicate data, the most mainstream correspondence channel to those messages is through clients' emails. Phishing has turned into a generous danger for web clients and a noteworthy reason for money related misfortunes. Therefore, different arrangements have been created to handle this issue. Deceitful emails, also called phishing emails, utilize a scope of impact strategies to convince people to react, for example, promising a fiscal reward or summoning a feeling of criticalness. Regardless of far reaching alerts and intends to instruct clients to distinguish phishing sends, these are as yet a pervasive practice and a worthwhile business. The creators accept that influence, as a style of human correspondence intended to impact others, has a focal job in fruitful advanced tricks. Cyber criminals have ceaselessly propelling their techniques for assault. The current strategies to recognize the presence of such malevolent projects and to keep them from executing are static, dynamic and hybrid analysis. In this work we are proposing a hybrid methodology for phishing detection incorporating feature extraction and classification of the mails using SVM. At last, alongside the chose features, the PNN characterizes the spam mails from the genuine mails with more exactness and accuracy.

Buffer overflows are one of the most common software vulnerabilities that occur when more data is inserted into a buffer than it can hold. Various manual and automated techniques for detecting and fixing specific types of buffer overflow vulnerability have been proposed, but the solution to fix Unicode buffer overflow has not been proposed yet. Public security vulnerability repository e.g., Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE) holds useful articles about software security vulnerabilities. Mitigation strategies listed in CWE may be useful for fixing the specified software security vulnerabilities. This research contributes by developing a prototype that automatically fixes different types of buffer overflows by using the strategies suggested in CWE articles and existing research. A static analysis tool has been used to evaluate the performance of the developed prototype tools. The results suggest that the proposed approach can automatically fix buffer overflows without inducing errors.

Data warehouses represent collections of data organized to support a process of decision support, and provide an appropriate solution for managing large volumes of data. OLAP online analytics is a technology that complements data warehouses to make data usable and understandable by users, by providing tools for visualization, exploration, and navigation of data-cubes. On the other hand, data mining allows the extraction of knowledge from data with different methods of description, classification, explanation and prediction. As part of this work, we propose new ways to improve existing approaches in the process of decision support. In the continuity of the work treating the coupling between the online analysis and data mining to integrate prediction into OLAP, an approach based on automatic learning with Clustering is proposed in order to partition an initial data cube into dense sub-cubes that could serve as a learning set to build a prediction model. The technique of data mining by regression trees is then applied for each sub-cube to predict the value of a cell.

The increasing demand in silicon nano-photonics has encouraged many researchers to put more efforts to explore the feasibility of using optics in the communication medium in order to replace the conventional electrical interconnects (EIs). In this paper, we proposed a SOI- based waveguide in the optical interconnect (OI) link at an operating frequency of 1550nm to work as an interconnection path in a circuit. The performance capability of the OI link was tested using a two-stage CE amplifier to work as the interconnection path from the 1st stage to the 2nd stage amplifier. In term of optical performances, the optical waveguide interconnect managed to achieve a single mode condition for a TE mode and fulfill the receiver sensitivity of a photodiode. While, in term of electrical performance, a two-stage CE amplifier is able to produce a high gain, a wide bandwidth and high slew rate. The proposed implementation of the OIs waveguide is succesfully enhance the performance of the two-stage CE amplifier as well as the analog electronic circuit applications.
