Compressor cell is often placed in critical path of multiplier circuits to perform partial product summation. Therefore it plays a significant role in determining the entire performance of multiplier and digital system. Respecting to the necessity of low power design for portable electronic, designing a low power and high performance compressors seems to be a good solution to overcome of these problems for computations. In this paper a novel high performance four-to-two compressor cell is proposed using Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistors (CNTFETs) technology. The new cell is based on Majority Function, NOR, and NAND gates. The main advantage of proposed design in comparison with former cells is the ease of obtaining CARRY output by means of Majority function. Simulations have been done with 32nm technology node using Synopsys HSPICE software. Simulation results confirm the priority of the proposed cell compared to other state-of-the-art four-to-two compressor cells.

Multi-area Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (MACEED) problem is an optimization task in power system operation for allocating the amount of generation to the committed units within the system areas. Its objective is to minimize the fuel cost and the quantity of emissions subject to the power balance, generator limits, transmission line and tie-line constraints. The solutions of the MACEED problem in the conditions of deregulation are difficult, due to the model size, nonlinearities, and the big number of interconnections, and require intensive computations in real-time. High-Performance Computing (HPC) gives possibilities for the reduction of the problem complexity and the time for calculation by the use of parallel processing techniques for running advanced application programs efficiently, reliably and quickly. These applications are considered as very new in the power system control centers because there are not available optimization methods and software based on them that can solve the MACEED problem in parallel, paying attention to the existence of the power system areas and the tie-lines between them. A decomposition-coordinating method based on Lagrange’s function is developed in this paper. Investigations of the performance of the method are done using IEEE benchmark power system models.

The majority of research is about the detection of broken bar fault in three-phase induction motor at high slip. Thus, it becomes very interesting and demanding to detect faults in case of low slip range. In this study, a novel investigation of broken bar faults using instantaneous power is presented. The method is based on calculations and frequency analysis of partial and total instantaneous power under low slip range. The used model of squirrel cage induction machine takes into account the geometry and winding layout. This model will be used to analyze the impact of broken bar on instantaneous power spectrum. The proposed ideas in this paper are verified experimentally. The results show that broken bar fault can be more reliably detected under low slip range when using a large frequency area of both partial and total instantaneous power spectrums.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i1.4611

An efficient networks’ energy consumption and Quality of Services (QoS) are considered the most important issues, to evaluate the route quality of the designed routing protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). This study is presented an evaluation performance technique to evaluate two routing protocols: Secure for Mobile Sink Node location using Dynamic Routing Protocol (SMSNDRP) and routing protocol that used K-means algorithm to form Data Gathered Path (KM-DGP), on small and large network with Group of Mobile Sinks (GMSs). The propose technique is based on QoS and sensor nodes’ energy consumption parameters to assess route quality and networks’ energy usage. The evaluation technique is conducted on two routing protocols in two phases: The first phase is used to evaluate the route quality and networks’ energy consumption on small WSN with one mobile Sink Node (SN) and GMSs. The second phase, is used to evaluate the route quality and networks’ energy consumption on large network (four WSNs) with GMSs. The two phases are implementated by creating five sceneries via using NS2.3 simulator software. The implementation results of the proposed performance evaluation technique have demonstrated that SMSNDRP gives better networks’ energy consumption on small single network in comparison with KM-DGP. Also, it gives high quality route in large network that used four mobile SN, in contrast to KM-DGP that used sixteen mobile SNs. While in large network, it found that KM-DGP with sixteen mobile SNs gives better networks’ energy consumption in comparison with SMSNDRP with four mobile SNs.

Image enhancement has a primitive role in the vision-based applications. It involves the processing of the input image by boosting its visualization for various applications. The primary objective is to filter the unwanted noises, clutters, sharpening or blur. The characteristics such as resolution and contrast are constructively altered to obtain an outcome of an enhanced image in the bio-medical field. The paper highlights the different techniques proposed for the digital enhancement of images. After surveying these methods that utilize Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoC), it is concluded that these methodologies have little accuracy and hence none of them are efficiently capable of enhancing the digital biomedical images.

In this paper, an analysis of open stub resonator is presented and its application in dual isolation band of Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch is proposed. A mathematical model and the characteristic of the bandstop of the resonator were analyzed and discussed. The open stub resonator was implemented using the microstrip transmission line and able to switch between bandstop and allpass responses. Frequency bands of 2.3 and 3.5 GHz were chosen to demonstrate the dual isolation band in the switch design. The performance results of the SPDT switch showed that the isolation was greater than 30 dB, return loss was greater than 10 dB and insertion loss less than 2 dB at the center resonant frequency of 2.3 and 3.5 GHz. The potential application of the proposed dual isolation band of SPDT switch is for multi band RF front-end system such as WiMAX, LTE, WiFi and HyperLAN.

The study of software component reuse is rising in software development field and one of the methods used to reduce the production cost and time. Among the problems faced by software developers in component reuse, is the difficulty to determine which set of components are suitable to use in new software development. Thus, this study was conducted with the purpose; to define the characteristics of software component reusability evaluation approach (CREA) based on experienced software developer’s feedback, and to estimate the measurement level for each of the predefined metric. Three characteristics and sub characteristics, namely understandability (documentation level and observality), adaptability (customizability), and portability (external dependency) were identified that have been used to develop the metrics for CREA. The result for all metrics will be used as an input to the fuzzy inference system (FIS) for measuring the reusability level of the component.

This article presents the implementation of a tracking system for a moving target using a fixed camera. The objective of this work is the ability to detect a moving object and locate their positions. In picture processing, tracking moving objects in a known or unknown environment is commonly studied. It is based on invariance properties of objects of interest. The invariance can affect the geometry of the scene or the objects. The proposed approach is composed of several steps; the first is the extraction of points of interest in the current image. Then, these points will be tracked in the following image by using techniques for calculating the optical flow. After this step, the static points will be removed to focus on moving objects, That is to say, there is only the characteristic points belonging to moving objects. Now, to detect moving targets using images of the video, the background is first extracted from the successive images. In our approach, a method of the average values of every pixel has been developed for modeling background. The last step which stays before switching to tracking moving object is the segmentation which allows identifying every moving object. And by using the characteristic points in the previous steps.
