Abstract

The identification of risks linked to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the electric railway is a major concern in identifying EMC problems and analyzing the unintentional various external disturbing sources as well as the probability of occurrence of interference, the level of interference along the railway system. The purpose of this analysis is to determine the electromagnetic interaction coupling generated by the high voltage (HV) lines located along the railway line by analyzing the voltage induced in the signaling transmission cables such as the European rail traffic management system/European train control system (ERTMS/ETCS) through the multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) theory which may have an impact on the transmitting information. Dubanton method and approximate calculation will be applied and simulated through COMSOL Multiphysics tool in order to analyze if the protection distance and coupling conditions are respected by the railway standards.

Abstract

The digital images made with the Wireless Capsule Endoscopy (WCE) from the patient's gastrointestinal tract are used to forecast abnormalities. The big amount of information from WCE pictures could take 2 hours to review GI tract illnesses per patient to research the digestive system and evaluate them. It is highly time consuming and increases healthcare costs considerably. In order to overcome this problem, the CS-LBP (Center Symmetric Local Binary Pattern) and the ACC (Auto Color Correlogram) were proposed to use a novel method based on a visual bag of features (VBOF). In order to solve this issue, we suggested a Visual Bag of Features(VBOF) method by incorporating Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT), Center-Symmetric Local Binary Pattern (CS-LBP) and Auto Color Correlogram (ACC). This combination of features is able to detect the interest point, texture and color information in an image. Features for each image are calculated to create a descriptor with a large dimension. The proposed feature descriptors are clustered by K- means referred to as visual words, and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method is used to automatically classify multiple disease abnormalities from the GI tract. Finally, post-processing scheme is applied to deal with final classification results i.e. validated the performance of multi-abnormal disease frame detection.

Abstract

Flow shop scheduling problem is one of the most classical NP-hard optimization problem. Which aims to find the best planning that minimizes the makespan (total completion time) of a set of tasks in a set of machines with certain constraints. In this paper, we propose a new nature inspired metaheuristic to solve the flow shop scheduling problem (FSSP), called penguins search optimization algorithm (PeSOA) based on collaborative hunting strategy of penguins.The operators and parameter values of PeSOA redefined to solve this problem. The performance of the penguins search optimization algorithm is tested on a set of benchmarks instances of FSSP from OR-Library, The results of the tests show that PeSOA is superior to some other metaheuristics algorithms, in terms of the quality of the solutions found and the execution time.

Abstract

Notwithstanding the recent technological advancement, the identification of facial and emotional expressions is still one of the greatest challenges scientists have ever faced. Generally, the human face is identified as a composition made up of textures arranged in micro-patterns. Currently, there has been a tremendous increase in the use of local binary pattern based texture algorithms which have invariably been identified to being essential in the completion of a variety of tasks and in the extraction of essential attributes from an image. Over the years, lots of LBP variants have been literally reviewed. However, what is left is a thorough and comprehensive analysis of their independent performance. This research work aims at filling this gap by performing a large-scale performance evaluation of 46 recent state-of-the-art LBP variants for facial expression recognition. Extensive experimental results on the well-known challenging and benchmark KDEF, JAFFE, CK and MUG databases taken under different facial expression conditions, indicate that a number of evaluated state-of-the-art LBP-like methods achieve promising results, which are better or competitive than several recent state-of-the-art facial recognition systems. Recognition rates of 100%, 98.57%, 95.92% and 100% have been reached for CK, JAFFE, KDEF and MUG databases, respectively.

Abstract

Nowadays, energy management is a subject of great importance and complexity. Pakistan, being in a state of developing country, generates electrical power mainly by using non-renewable sources of energy. Non-renewable entities are fossil fuels such as furnace oil, natural gas, coal, and nuclear power. Pakistan has been facing a severe shortage of production in energy sector for last two decades. This shortfall is affecting the industrial development as well as economic growth. With the growing population, the load demand is rapidly increasing and there must be a need to expand the existing ones or to build new power systems. In this paper, an autonomous management system has been proposed to enhance quality, reliability and confidence of utilization of energy between end consumers and suppliers. Such objectives can only be fulfilled by making the power supply secure for end consumers. Distributed and centralized control systems are involved for maintaining a balance between renewable energy resources and base power, so that end consumers demand can be fulfilled when required. A reliable Two-way communication system between suppliers and end consumers has been proposed by using Message Digest algorithm which ensures that there would be no energy theft. Simulations have been done in MATLAB/ Simulink environment and results have been presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Abstract

Recently, the wireless sensor network (WSN) has been considered in different application, particularly in emergency systems. Therefore, it is important to keep these networks in high reliability using software engineering techniques in the field of fault tolerance. This paper proposed a fault node detection method in WSN using the self-checking technique according to the rules of software engineering. Then, the detected faulted node is covered employing the reading of nearest neighbor nodes (sensors). In addition, the proposed method sends a message for maintenance to solve the fault. The proposed method can reduce the time between the detection and recovery of a fault to prevent the confusion of adopting wrong readings, in which the detection is making with mistake. Moreover, it guarantees the reliability of the WSN, in terms of operation and data transmission. The proposed method has been tested over different scenarios and the obtained results show the superior efficiency in terms of recovery, reliability, and continuous data transmission.

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to design and to discuss various strategies to optimize the production of a wind energy conversion chain based on the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), by capturing the maximum power at the wind turbine, using maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and pitch control. The proposed controls allow the generator to monitor the optimal operating points of the turbines regardless of wind speed variations, system parameters disturbance, and parameters variation. Simulation of WECS based on a 1.5 MW wound rotor induction generator under MATLAB/SIMULINK is carried out using the PI controller (PIC), RST controller and fuzzy logic controller (FLC). Analysis and comparisons are made for different operating scenarios: Reference tracking, robustness under variable wind speed conditions and parameters variation. The application of FLC provides a very interesting outcome for the robustness and the dynamic challenges.

Abstract

Biological tissue interaction with Electromagnetic fields became one of the interesting studies in the last years. Wide variety wireless electronic devices are emerged in day to day life each providing a wireless connection for a certain service such as Global Positioning System, broadcasting systems, mobile communication systems, and networking. In this research article, Fractal Sierpinski Square Patch Antenna is proposed and simulated to operate over L1 frequency range of 1.575 GHz for GPS applications using CST studio Suite where the proposed antenna has been investigated on Carpet shaped substrate made of Arlon 250 AD lossy. The dielectric constant equals to 2.5 and thickness of 1.6 mm. Thickness of patch is 0.6 mm. Also, the electromagnetic fields absorption on the human fingers is investigated where SAR levels are calculated for 0th, 1st, 2nd and 3rd iteration of the Fractal Sierpinski Square Patch Antenna. The results reported that the SAR limit of human finger tissue is enhanced with increasing the number of iteration.

Abstract

Importances of reversible data hiding practices are always higher in contrast to any conventional data hiding schemes owing to its capability to generate distortion free cover media. Review of existing approaches on reversible data hiding approaches shows variable scheme mainly focussing on the embedding mechanism; however, such schemes could be furthermore improved using encoding scheme for optimal embedding performance. Therefore, the proposed manuscript discusses about a cost-effective scheme where a novel encoding scheme has been used with larger block sizes which reduces the dependencies over larger number of blocks. Further a gradient-based image registration technique is applied to ensure higher quality of the reconstructed signal over the decoding end. The study outcome shows that proposed data hiding technique is proven better than existing data hiding scheme with good balance between security and restored signal quality upon extraction of data.

Abstract

The most prominent reason for the death of women all over the world is breast cancer. Early detection of cancer helps to lower the death rate. Mammography scans determine breast tumors in the first stage. As the mammograms have slight contrast, thus, it is a blur to the radiologist to recognize micro growths. A computer-aided diagnostic system is a powerful tool for understanding mammograms. Also, the specialist helps determine the presence of the breast lesion and distinguish between the normal area and the mass. In this paper, the Gabor filter is presented as a key step in building a diagnostic system. It is considered a sufficient method to extract the features. That helps us to avoid tumor classification difficulties and false-positive reduction. The linear support vector machine technique is used in this system for results classification. To improve the results, adaptive histogram equalization pre-processing procedure is employed. Mini-MIAS database utilized to evaluate this method. The highest accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity achieved are 98.7%, 98%, 99%, respectively, at the region of interest (30×30). The results have demonstrated the efficacy and accuracy of the proposed method of helping the radiologist on diagnosing breast cancer.
