Abstract

In this paper, a set of non-parametric identification techniques are used in order to obtain second order models plus dead time for an underdamped system. Initially, non-parametric techniques were used to identify the system from the temperature data of a coal-heated oven. In this case, the identification techniques proposed by Stark, Jahanmiri - Fallahi and Ogata were used, which require obtaining two or three points of the step response for the system under study. In addition, the Matlab PID Tuner app was used to identify the underdamped system and compare the results with the other methods. The results show that the PID Tuner and the method proposed by Ogata are the ones that best represent the dynamics of the underdamped system, taking into account the values for the Integral Absolute Error (IAE) and the correlation coefficient. With the Stark method an IAE of 181.56 was obtained, while with the PID Tuner the best performance was achieved with an IAE of 21.59. In terms of the results obtained with the cross correlation, the best performance was achieved with the PID tuner and the Stark method.

Abstract

E-learning has gained recognition and fame in delivering and distributing educational resources, and the same has become possible with the occurrence of Internet and Web technologies. The research seeks to determine the factors that influence students' acceptance of E-learning and to find out the way these factors determine the students' intention to employ E-learning. A theoretical framework was developed based on the technology acceptance model (TAM). To obtain information from the 270 university students who utilized the E-learning system, a questionnaire was formulated. The results revealed that “social influence, perceived enjoyment, self-efficacy, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use” are the strongest and most important predictors in the intention of and students towards E-learning systems. The outcomes offer practical implications for practitioners, lawmakers, and developers in effective E-learning systems implementation to improve ongoing interests and activities of university students in a virtual E-learning atmosphere, valuable recommendations for E-learning practices are given by the research findings, and these may turn out to be as guidelines for the efficient design of E-learning systems.

Abstract

Modern dermatology distinguishes premature diagnosis for example an important part in reducing the death percentage and promising less aggressive treatment for patients. The classifications comprise various stages that must be selected suitably using the characteristics of the filter pointing to get a dependable analysis. The dermoscopic images hold challenges to be faced and overcome to enhance the automatic diagnosis of hazardous lesions. It is calculated to survey a different metaheuristic and evolutionary computing working for filter design systems. Approximately general computing techniques are observed to improve features of infect design method. Nevertheless, the median filter (MF) is normally multimodal with respect to the filter factors and so, reliable approaches that can provide optimal solutions are required. The design of MF depends on modern artificial swarm intelligence technique (MASIT) optimization algorithm which has proven to be more effective than other population-based algorithms to improve of estimation stages for segmentation skin lesions. A controlled artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is advanced for solving factors optimization problems and, also the physical-programming-depend on ABC way is applied to proposal median filter, and the outcomes are compared to another approaches.

Abstract

This study examines the possibility of remotely measuring the cardiac pulse activity of a patient, which could be an alternative technique to the classical method. This type of measurement is non-invasive. However, several limitations may deteriorate the accuracy of the results, including changes in ambient illumination, motion artifacts (MA) and other interferences that may occur through video recording. The paper in hand presents a new approach as a remedy for the aforementioned problem in cardiac pulse signals extracted from facial video recordings. Partitioning provides the basis for the presented MA reduction method; the acquired signals are partitioned into two sets for each second and every partition is shifted to the mean level and then all the partitions are recombined again into one signal, which is followed by low-pass filtering for enhancement. The proposed compared with ordinary pulse oximetry Photoplethysmographic (PPG) method. The resulted correlation coefficient was found (0.957) when calculated between the results of the proposed method and the ordinary one. Experiments were implemented using a common camera by creating a dataset from 11 subjects. The ease of implementation of this method with a simple that can be used to monitor the cardiac pulse rates in both home and the clinical environments.

Abstract

IETF has proposed the routing protocol for low power and lossy networks (RPL) for IOT as view as light weight routing protocol. In RPL, the objective function (OF) is used to select the best route between child and root node. Several researches have been conducted in order to, enhance OF according to number parameters such as number of hops, remaining energy and expected number of transmissions (ETX), without a consideration to other challenges such as congestion node problem and latency. So, to overcome these challenges a new technique called “Enhance-Minimum Rank with Hysteresis Objective Function (MHOF)” is proposed in this paper, to select the ideal path between the child and root node. The technique is consisted of three layers: parent selection layer in which parent is selected based on three parameters (ETX, RSSI and nodes’ residual energy), path selection layer in which the best route is chosen according to the minimum of (average ETX value) and maximum of (average remaining energy value) of all nodes in the selected route. The last layer is child node minimization, which utilized to solve the congestion node energy problem by using two parameters (RSSI reference and threshold value). The proposed method has been implemented and evaluated by using Cooja simulator software. The simulation results have shown that selected path with E-MHOF is increased the network lifetime and reduced latency in comparison with MHOF.

Abstract

The precise identification and characterization of small pulmonary nodules at low-dose CT is a necessary requirement for the completion of valuable lung cancer screening. It is compulsory to develop some automated tool, in order to detect pulmonary nodules at low dose ct at the beginning stage itself. The numerous algorithms had been proposed earlier by many researchers in the past, but, the accuracy of prediction is always a challenging task. In this work, an artificial neural network based methodology is proposed to find the irregular growth of lung tissues. Higher probability of detection is taken as a goal to get an automated tool, with great accuracy. The finest feature sets derived from Haralick Gray level co occurrence Matrix and used as the dimension reduction way for feeding neural network. In this work, a binary Binary classifier neural network has been proposed to identify the normal images out of all the images. The capability of the proposed neural network has been quantitatively computed using confusion matrix and found in terms of classification accuracy.

Abstract

In the scientific studies of the electric machines, cylindrical and Cartesian laminated models have long proved their operability when it is necessary to transform the general solutions of the partial differential equations into four-terminal network equations and to create the cascade equivalent circuits of the electric machines. In the case of the salient-pole machines, piecewise continuous Sturm-Liouville eigenfunctions are usually used as the general solution. Unfortunately, we cannot create the cascade equivalent circuit of the salient-pole electric machine when (to ensure both the uniqueness and the accuracy of the solution) the field is modeled with many piecewise continuous Sturm-Liouville eigenfunctions (in the zone of poles) and many sinusoidal functions (in the air gap). Nevertheless, the author developed the approximate method for modeling the magnetic field of the salient-pole electric machines when only one piecewise continuous Sturm-Liouville eigenfunction is used and many sinusoidal functions. In this case, it becomes possible to transform the general solution of the partial differential equation into four-terminal network equations and to create the cascade equivalent circuit of the salient-pole electric machine. In this paper, the cascade equivalent A-H-circuit of the synchronous salient-pole machine is considered (without using piecewise continuous Sturm-Liouville eigenfunctions but also without properties averaging).

Abstract

The E-orientations platforms become an essential space for students to base their choice on tangible elements, as they offer a macroscopic view of the different academic and professional fields. In this context the Center for Engineering Sciences and Applied Sciences “SISA” funded the MMS Orientation project to focus on student orientation in Morocco. With respect to the peculiarity and the different characteristics of the E-orientation platforms, a comparative study is essential. In this article we will proceed by a comparative study of a sample of platforms in order to highlight the major functionalities that we will model through descriptive files. The work is divided into two parts: The first part will be a comparison and description of existing platforms using descriptive language (WSDL), the second part will use ETL as a transformation technology in order to highlight generic files that will serve as a basis for work. the expected meta model.

Abstract

Writer identification based on cursive words is one of the extensive behavioural biometric that has involved many researchers to work in. Recently, its main idea is in forensic investigation and biometric analysis as such the handwriting style can be used as individual behavioural adaptation for authenticating an author. In this study, a novel approach of presenting cursive features of authors is presented. The invariants-based discriminability of the features is proposed by discretizing the moment features of each writer using biometric invariant discretization cutting point (BIDCP). BIDCP is introduced for features perseverance to obtain better individual representations and discriminations. Our experiments have revealed that by using the proposed method, the authorship identification based on cursive words is significantly increased with an average identification rate of 99.80%.
