Abstract

Using Poly-Silicon, the implementation of novel Displacement-amplifying Compliant Mechanisms (DaCM), in two geometries of accelerometers, allows for remarkable improvements in their operation frequency and displacement sensitivity, with different proportions. Similar DaCM´s geometries were previously implemented by us with Silicon. In all mentioned cases, the geometries of DaCM´s are adjusted in order to use them with Conventional Capacitive Accelerometer (CCA) and Capacitive Accelerometer with Extended Beams (CAEB), which operate in-plane mode, (y-axis). It should be noted that CAEB shows improvements (95.33%) in displacement sensitivity compared to ACC. Simulations results, carried out using Ansys Workbench software, validate the system’s performance designed with Poly-Silicon. Finally, a comparison with the similar systems, previously designed with Silicon, is also carried out.

Abstract

Ambulance location is one of the critical factors that determine the efficiency of emergency medical services delivery. Maximal Covering Location Problem is one of the widely used ambulance location models. However, its coverage function is considered unrealistic because of its ability to abruptly change from fully covered to uncovered. On the contrary, Gradual Cover Location Problem coverage is considered more realistic compared to Maximal Cover Location Problem because the coverage decreases over distance. This paper examines the delivery of Emergency Medical Services under the models of Maximal Covering Location Problem and Gradual Cover Location Problem. The results show that the latter model is superior, especially when the Maximal Covering Location Problem has been deemed fully covered.

Abstract

Many years ago, Flash was essential in browsers to interact with the user media devices, such as a microphone and camera. Today, Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) technology has come to substitute the flash, so browsers do not need the flash to access media devices or establish their communication. However, WebRTC standards do not express precisely how browsers can record audios, videos or screen instead of describing getUserMedia API that enables a browser to access microphone and camera. The prime objective of this research is to create a new WebRTC recording mechanism to record audios, videos, and screen using Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. This experiment applied through Ethernet and Wireless of the Internet and 4G networks. Also, the recording mechanism of this research was obtained based on JavaScript Library for audio, video, screen (2D and 3D animation) recording. Besides, different audio and video codecs in Chrome, Firefox and Opera were utilised, such as VP8, VP9, and H264 for video, and Opus codec for audio. Not only but also, various bitrates (100 bytes bps, 1 Kbps, 100 Kbps, 1 MB bps, and 1 GB bps), different resolutions (1080p, 720p, 480p, and HD (3840* 2160)), and various frame-rates (fps) 5, 15, 24, 30 and 60 were considered and tested. Besides, an evaluation of recording mechanism, Quality of Experience (QoE) through actual users, resources, such as CPU performance was also done. In this paper, a novel implementation was accomplished over different networks, different browsers, various audio and video codecs, many peers, opening one or multi browsers at the same time, keep the streaming active as much as the user needs, save the record, using only audio and/or video recording as conferencing with full screen, etc.

Abstract

This paper presents a new circuit design for 8-point DFT algorithm based on product of Rademacher functions. The design has been adopted from the famous 8-point DFT decimation in time which is mainly constructs of two 4-point and four 2-point DFTs. However, the operation of the design circuit is different. It utilized the advantage of Rademacher functions simplicity. Therefore, the proposed design is constructed form the previous design 4-point DFT which is based on product of Rademacher functions [6]. Some analysis upon number types and internal connections to achieve a more efficient circuit have been conducted. As a result, instead of four, the proposed design requires only three 2-point DFT. Several output results of the design DFT have been removed since they are equal in terms of magnitude, two negative circuit are required as a compensation. Moreover, the previous 4-point DFT has been replaced to the efficient one. This circuit is special designed for non stand alone used, the circuit must be integrated inside the proposed 8-point DFT.

Abstract

Different card operated entry control systems have been developed. However, it is desired that the system is reliable, easy to implement and available at market. In this paper, we design and develop an electronic entry control system which is based on an ID card and ID card reader. In our system, the ID card contains encoded Litho-code ID and the card reader is used to read the encoded ID. We develop offline Software to collect user information, save data and to print the ID card. We design and develop the electronic card reader to capture the ID using infra-red (IR) sensors and for computer interfacing. We develop online software to process the signals exchanged between the card reader and CPU. In this paper, first we present the system layout and design outline. Abstract

The calculation of white blood cells on the acute leukemia microscopic images is one of the stages in the diagnosis of Leukemia disease. The main constraint on calculating the number of white blood cells is the precision in the area of overlapping white blood cells. The research on the calculation of the number of white blood cells overlapping generally based on geometry. However, there was still a calculation error due to over segment or under segment. This paper proposed an Iterative Distance Transform for Convex Sets (IDTCS) method to determine the markers and calculate the number of overlapping white blood cells. Determination of marker was performed on every cell both in single and overlapping white blood cell area. In this study, there were tree stages: segmentation of white blood cells, marker detection and white blood cell count, and contour estimation of every white blood cell. The used data testing was microscopic acute leukemia image data of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (AML). Based on the test results, Iterative Distance Transform for Convex Sets IDTCS method performs better than Distance Transform (DT) and Ultimate Erosion for Convex Sets (UECS) method.

Abstract

A Radial Distribution network is important in power system area because of its simple design and reduced cost. Reduction of system losses and improvement of voltage profile is one of the key aspects in power system operation. Distributed generators are beneficial in reducing losses effectively in distribution systems as compared to other methods of loss reduction. Sizing and location of DG sources places an important role in reducing losses in distribution network. Four types of DG are considered in this paper with one DG installed for minimize the total real and reactive power losses. The objective of this methodology is to calculate size and to identify the corresponding optimum location for DG placement for minimizing the total real and reactive power losses and to improve voltage profile   in primary distribution system. It can obtain maximum loss reduction for each of four types of optimally placed DGs. Optimal sizing of Distributed Generation can be calculated using exact loss formula and an efficient approach is used to determine the optimum location for Distributed Generation Placement.  To demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach 36-bus radial distribution system in Belin Substation in Myanmar was tested and validated with different sizes and the result was discussed.

Abstract

Ant colony Optimization is a nature-inspired meta-heuristic optimization algorithm that gained a great interest in resolution of combinatorial and numerical optimization problems in many science and engineering domains. The aim of this work was to investigate the use of Ant Colony Optimization in cryptanalysis of Simplified Advanced Encryption Standard (S-AES), using a known plaintext attack. We have defined the essential components of our algorithm such as heuristic value, fitness function and the strategy to update pheromone trails. It is shown from the experimental results that our proposed algorithm allow us to break S-AES cryptosystem after exploring a minimum search space when compared with others techniques and requiring only two plaintext-ciphertext pairs.

Abstract

Speed breakers and bumpy roads are a major threat to drivers that questions their safety. The mishap happens because of no sign boards indicating the speed breaker, poor visibility at night and road works that are often carried out with no proper signs of road deviations and also the negligence of the driver. All these factors put the life of the persons in vain causing damage to the vehicle as well as life. Also, bumpy roads have become a problem for cars with less ground clearance. The focus of the paper is on designing an early warning system detecting both speed breaker humps and bad road conditions. The approach used in this paper is a real-time solution and is developed as an android service that runs in the background and relies on Google Maps application in the smartphone. This service will throw an alert giving early warning if the user is approaching the speed breaker or a bumpy road. Apart from just giving an early alert to the user, it also provides the user with an alternative and a better route. The solution proposed in this work is a form of crowdsourcing where users share and get data, therefore making the system cost effective.

Abstract

The operation of the new proposed spherical slotted antenna covered by layers of dielectric material and plasma was analyzed numerically in this paper. By utilizing the Integra-functional equations method, the optimum thickness of dielectric material layer and suitable conditions which improve the operation of this antenna are analyzed here by MATHCAD. The thickness of dielectric layer must not be less or more than λ/6. Furthermore, the authors propose manipulating the operation frequency to enable such antenna to work in most circumstances.
